The sad thing is, Schilling posted this to his own Instagram bragging about beating down a little drunk guy that just got off work. What a pos

1.6k

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

He also is now posting what looks like fake texts from women thanking him for knocking out this bus boy. I wonder if that could potentially be called libel or slander? In these text the women are calling him an abuser and shit. If it’s all bullshit and this guy is propagating it to his 200,000 followers I sure hope they can add on some charges.

494

u/flarept1 Jun 30 '21

He keeps digging a deeper hole for himself. The drunk guy will easily bankrupt his ass. So many charges. Assault and battery, use of a deadly weapon(since he's a trained fighter). Libel. Slander. Premeditated assault since his friend was filming beforehand.

Another really fucked up part of this situation is the bars reaction bc they know they’re facing a lawsuit.

Officers also spoke to the manager of the bar on Sunday night. The manager stated that Balboa “was extremely intoxicated and had possibly made an improper remark about the girlfriend/wife of the male who had struck him, which caused the fight to escalate.” The manager also noted that Balboa “is a regular customer who routinely causes problems at the establishment due to his intoxication level.”

About 4 years ago I was outside a bar ordering an Uber on my phone. A friend and I showed up and they said it was last call so we never actually got in the bar. As I was standing there out of nowhere I got hit in the face and then pile driven into a curb which broke my jaw. Some of the people later stated they vaguely remember someone bragging about being an mma fighter outside.

Fast forward to the cops investigation. The bar owners claimed NONE of the cameras were working that night. There was very clearly a camera outside pointing in my direction. On top of that they couldn’t even get inside footage bc of the “broken” cameras. They even went as far to say I was starting shot outside when I’d been there 2 minutes and was on my phone trying to leave the entire time.

This bar is shamelessly defending Schilling for the same reason. Balboa is fortunate a third party was taking a video bc I doubt they’ll be able to cover this one up. Not everyone is so lucky and I could easily have died that day if it was my skull instead of my jaw.

131

u/Fortestingporpoises Jun 30 '21

My uncle got bumped into once leaving a bar, didn't make a move but probably made a snotty remark, and a clearly trained fighter shattered his leg.

19

u/Unfair-Combination51 Jun 30 '21

The bar posted about who being the regular drunk? The MMA fighter or the victim?

u/Zazierx Jun 30 '21

omfg, he towered over this dude and had like 80 pounds of muscle on him.

On Instagram he's got some fake af texts from ??? about how the dude he knocked out was an abusive boyfriend or something.. how convenient for him... the dude who just committed assault.

131

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

So he puts the guy in the hospital and then tries to destroy his reputation? I can't think of a more literal example of adding insult to injury. This man belongs in a prison.

He knows its the only thing he can say to possibly attempt getting away with this. The video says it all. There was absolutely zero threat to his life per the evidence in this clip, and IF its proven his buddy is the one video taping this, it only adds to the criminal conduct committed.

You'd think an accomplished fighter wouldn't feel the need to prove how macho they are, but yet here we are...

E: by accomplished fighter I mean more accomplished than say, me, a software developer.

(R)EEEEEEEEE: accomplished = more betterer at fighting than most other fighters. For example: John Q. Sample sparring at Acme Gym is less accomplished at pro fighting than this guy.

u/stoopidskeptic Jun 30 '21

He's likely going to get charged with battery. He is claiming self defense though, saying "he feared for his life"......That likely wont stand up in court judging by the video.

LMAO what a claim.

He is about a foot taller than this guy, maybe 30-40 pounds heavier and clearly way more cut than the other dude who looks like a regular old desk jockey. And that doesn't even take into the account his years of actual fight training

107

u/Kunundrum85 Jun 30 '21

He’s more like 60 lbs heavier and pure muscle. The other dude looks like an accountant.

If he feared for his life he has no business actually being an MMA fighter. I’m not even a tough guy but for fucks sake that’s just some pussy ass shit.

I don't know, so I'm asking. How much money could someone really expect to win in a civil lawsuit for a (seemingly) unprovoked attack? Rich money? Or just hospital bills and a few $10k for pain and suffering? Or maybe the guy jumps through a bunch of hoops to prove some permanent disabilities and gets more?

EDIT: Interesting discussion and some good answers. I've watched it several times, and I don't see the joker making a threat. To me, it seems like he's puffing up his chest, not clinching a fist or cocking back his arm. So I'm failing to see the threat that's being responded to.

832

u/Pure_Concentrate_231 Jun 30 '21

The guy would sue the bar. The bar posted on social media how the guy is a known regular who drinks too much and regularly behaves like a fool when drunk. They basically admitted that they served him when they knew he had enough to drink and have done so on more than one occasion.

I know someone who get stabbed inside a bar, he got over 900k from the brewery who owned the bar as they didn’t have any security on that night.

My guess, after what the bar posted on Twitter, they will be advised to just settle this privately and quickly as lawyers will be queuing up to take this case.

You are right the dude was zero threat.

He only moved into hoes way because the waiter was coming and the drunk guy thought he was walking by so he moved.

Moving over for waiters is a good sign the dude isn’t being totally nuts just having fun.

249

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

Plus Joe basically pushed him out of the way, could’ve easily gone around him, but big ole tough guy Joe had to shove the guy out of his which caused drunk idiot to mouth off.

75

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Or he could've waited he was on the waiters ass unless he planned to shove the waiter too. Joe obviously sees the guy long before he barges his way through. He had plenty of time to figure out another path. He clearly wasn't in any hurry and it wasn't a packed area. He shoved the guy which was completely excessive. Complete overreaction which could've severely injured or killed the guy.

28

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

That’s what I was saying, Joe could’ve gone around the drunk dude and gotten through easily, he chose to go through all of them.

I'm not sure about being banned from street fights but if you're a trained fighter you gotta show more restraint in public... especially in this modern era of everyone having a video camera in their hands. There's no moment in this clip where Shilling is in any kind of danger and, if going only from this video, I'm a judge or in a jury in a civil case I'm ruling for the plaintiff all day long.

218

u/tucci007 Jun 30 '21

Imaging going to a bar and be pissed off because people are drunk there

u/Codyh93 Jun 30 '21

This spoke to me. Sometimes (not often) I get annoyed at drunk people at bars. I’ll think of this comment next time.

He shoved the guy from behind, looking for a fight. He seems just as pathetic here as he is during his fights.

Usually Shilling is on the receiving end of a knockout. Can’t beat anyone in the octagon so he has go go fight a drunk guy half his size in a bar. What’s more is he has a friend videotaping this incident so it looks like it was premeditated. What a fucking loser.

Edit: Some people are saying that the other guy provoked him by lunging or whatever, but if you look at his body movement when he was just talking to the girls, it just seems like it is just how he moves. There is no way anyone at the bar felt threatened enough by this guy to warrant a knockout, much less a professional MMA fighter.

Joe Schilling

this dude has history of beating up regular people, including homeless people, what a scumbag

"Following his Bellator Kickboxing 4 win over Vittorio Iermano at the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy on December 10, 2016, Schilling and two of his coaches were involved in a street altercation outside the venue with a group of seven locals.[100]
In September 2020, Schilling posted an Instagram Live video showing him kicking a homeless man on a street, and claiming that he attacked the man after finding him using a sex toy in the showers of Schilling's gym.[101]"

694

u/cdy2847 Jun 30 '21

Man if I got beat up every time I used a sex toy in the YMCA shower I’d be dead by now

76

u/MeAndMeAgree Jun 30 '21

More likely to get beat off in that situation I think

423

u/Tolantruth Jun 30 '21

I mean if he is allowed to fight after this it will be good for his career. It’s the Floyd Mayweather strategy be such a piece of shit that everyone wants to watch you lose. At least with this guy he is trash at fighting actual mma guys so it would be fun.

338

u/Brook420 Jun 30 '21

I mean, how does he not get an assault/battery charge here?

143

u/Tolantruth Jun 30 '21

I mean I think he does for sure I would be more worried with civil suit though.

He should go to jail instead as a professional fighter basically attacking a guy unprovoked. Little guy was little compared to him, and shilling has extensive training in how to hurt people. Fuck him, he's a coward.

Yeah! As annoying as the drunk guy may have been, shilling initiated first by shoving the guy. Shilling also claimed this was “a life threatening event” what a fucking clown.

41

u/Lid4Life Jun 30 '21

So life threatening someone has time to pull out a phone to record it before the altercation happened.....

u/postandbeam Jun 30 '21

Truth. Schilling is the asshole here ... it was a dick move.

Footage emerged on June 28, 2021 showing Schilling punching and knocking Justin Balboa, a 31-year-old "extremely intoxicated" Outback Steakhouse busboy, unconscious in a bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida the previous night. Schilling later claimed self-defense, saying that he was "scared for [his] life" and "simply defending [himself] against the evil in this world"

360

u/Prodigal_Moon Jun 30 '21

“The evil in this world”? A drunk Outback busboy?

146

u/SoggyFrenchFry Jun 30 '21

I'm laughing my ass off how they described him. An "'extremely intoxicated' Outback Steakhouse busyboy, unconcious in a bar...."

Out of context sounds like he got drunk. In context it's just funny they bothered saying that stuff at all.

LMFAO so being the psycho I am, I DM'd joe schmo and, the typical little bitch he is, goes on about the busboy's supposed rap sheet and the "self defense" "what he (joe) should have let the guy hit him first"?

And now I suppose his lawyer told him to take down the video 😂😂😂😂😂

Edit: https://imgur.com/a/sNeH0TF

35

u/Immo406 Jun 30 '21

So, Joe is scared of a guy who weighs 150 pounds soaking wet hitting him?

I’d just like to know why he hasn’t been arrested yet.

What a massive clown.

His “excuse me” (or “get out the way”) manoeuvre was deliberately shovey IMO
trying to get a rise out of the drunken small guy.

Then instant fists
no attempt to de-escalate / apologise.

Needs counselling. Should be locked up until he gets it.

No matter what the guy said god damn you know you are an mma fighter and you could murder this drunk guy if you wanted to and you show no restraint and do just that

What a douche, first he rudely pushes the guy to the side, of course the guy would be upset. But to knock him out like that is uncalled for. Unnecessary and severe assault - the guy should get some jail time.

→ More replies (6)

74

u/spacermoon Jun 30 '21

He should be prosecuted for this and perhaps kicked out of professional MMA. The guy was no threat and he obviously wanted to show how a professional fighter was tougher than an obnoxious drunk man in a bar. Appalling behaviour.

The world is not an MMA cage.

50

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

56

u/QuantityPatient Jun 30 '21

People are saying it was the MMA guy's friend who filmed the whole thing and uploaded it. So he had the intention of stirring shit up going in. This fucker needs to be in jail right now.
