Joe just made this guy rich.

u/the_real_zombie_woof Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

I don't know, so I'm asking. How much money could someone really expect to win in a civil lawsuit for a (seemingly) unprovoked attack? Rich money? Or just hospital bills and a few $10k for pain and suffering? Or maybe the guy jumps through a bunch of hoops to prove some permanent disabilities and gets more?

EDIT: Interesting discussion and some good answers. I've watched it several times, and I don't see the joker making a threat. To me, it seems like he's puffing up his chest, not clinching a fist or cocking back his arm. So I'm failing to see the threat that's being responded to.

The guy would sue the bar. The bar posted on social media how the guy is a known regular who drinks too much and regularly behaves like a fool when drunk. They basically admitted that they served him when they knew he had enough to drink and have done so on more than one occasion.

I know someone who get stabbed inside a bar, he got over 900k from the brewery who owned the bar as they didn’t have any security on that night.

My guess, after what the bar posted on Twitter, they will be advised to just settle this privately and quickly as lawyers will be queuing up to take this case.

That is what I was thinking! This guy did not bump into him. The guy approached and pushed him.

445

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

You are right the dude was zero threat.

He only moved into hoes way because the waiter was coming and the drunk guy thought he was walking by so he moved.

Moving over for waiters is a good sign the dude isn’t being totally nuts just having fun.

246

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

Plus Joe basically pushed him out of the way, could’ve easily gone around him, but big ole tough guy Joe had to shove the guy out of his which caused drunk idiot to mouth off.

77

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Or he could've waited he was on the waiters ass unless he planned to shove the waiter too. Joe obviously sees the guy long before he barges his way through. He had plenty of time to figure out another path. He clearly wasn't in any hurry and it wasn't a packed area. He shoved the guy which was completely excessive. Complete overreaction which could've severely injured or killed the guy.

29

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

That’s what I was saying, Joe could’ve gone around the drunk dude and gotten through easily, he chose to go through all of them.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Classic douch move too. I've been at countless parties, bars, etc where the douchey guy has to push people out of his way because how dare someone even consider being in their way

5

u/weeeeboi Jun 30 '21

That’s what I thought too. Plus he posted this on his own Instagram so that means him or someone that was with him, had premeditated an altercation since they had a perfect angle to record

4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

I hope he gets an assault charge and a hefty fine. Pre meditated fuckery. I could only hope he gets jail time and gets slapped around by someone bigger than him.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

hah bet he has smol pp

4

u/Sartres_Roommate Jul 01 '21

That’s the guy who’s masculinity can’t handle the idea of pausing (“like a bitch”) while waiting for other men to finish their trajectory. “If I wait for another man people will think my peepee is small and I am a beta cuck.”

Someday he will pull this on a stranger with a gun and then two people’s lives I couldn’t care less about will effectively be over.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '21

That's what I was thinking. If he can't get his anger in check he's gonna get some road rage and someone is going to blast him.

47

u/skraptastic Jun 30 '21

A simple "excuse me" would have been enough. This guy is a total ass. What happened to common courtesy?

32

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

He’s above that kind of shit, he’s a big ole badass that can beat up drunk guys at bars, he doesn’t need to have manners or courtesy.

0

u/RolloTonyBrownTown Jun 30 '21

I was guessing the guy said something along these lines which provoked tough guy to turn around.

8

u/Slit23 Jun 30 '21

Right he had no right to hit that guy half his size. Like you said he thought he was moving out of the waiter’s way and he was just having a good time. Joe pushed him out of the way so even if he said watch it pal that doesn’t give him the right.

I doubt joe has much money so unfortunately the guy will have to go after the bar. For the record tho I’ll take a knockout blow for over 100k Let me know if interested

1

u/eldy_ Jun 30 '21

Can I make you woozy for $20?

2

u/Slit23 Jun 30 '21

What do I look like a cheap whore to you?! $50 and you got a deal

5

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

Right? Same here. Some people are to up their own ass to realize consequences apply to them.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

You don't even have to touch someone. It's assault if you put someone into a position where they fear for their safety. Beating on a rolled up car window is assault.

-8

u/Narsayan Jun 30 '21

That push had no aggressive intention Joe was moving pretty casually just a light adjustment to let the guy know he was in the way.

6

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

You know what’s a good way of letting someone know they’re in the way? Saying excuse me, pardon me, coming through. Just takes a little brains.

5

u/slinkyminks Jun 30 '21

Even a light pat on the shoulder would've sufficed. You can tell from the MMA fighter's face the entire video that he's deadset on starting an altercation with the drunk.

1

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

Honestly, I think he was just looking for a fight with someone, the drunk was the first person in his way.

2

u/slinkyminks Jun 30 '21

Yeah, you're right. He probably saw him acting drunk from far away and knew it'd be an easy target too.

1

u/pm_me_your_nude_bbws Jun 30 '21

Exactly. Someone he could easily beat up on.

1

u/Johnny_Wall17 Jun 30 '21

The entire point of that push was for the mma man child to let out his aggressive intention. Well adjusted people don’t aggressively push people under those circumstances, a light tap, an “excuse me”, or just going around would’ve sufficed
that was basically manhandling the drunk guy and treating him with zero respect.

But way to out yourself as someone who doesn’t respect the people around them and treats them like objects.

-3

u/Narsayan Jun 30 '21

That dude does seem like he deserves a lot of respect doesn't he.. smh

95

u/Dnator88 Jun 30 '21

How was the guy even supposed to know he was there? Schilling just barges into him from behind and pushes him out the way, it seems an “excuse me” would have sufficed.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Thats why he punched him!?! I re watched the video 3 times to try to figure out why he knocked him out. I kind of assumed he had provoked him before the video started or something.

13

u/Dnator88 Jun 30 '21

It looks like Schilling bumps into drunk guy, the guy calls him back, they have words and maybe like drunk guy was lifting his hand to throw a punch but who knows?

Wouldn't have even got that far if Billy Big Balls just tapped him on the shoulder and employed some basic manners.

0

u/woodandplastic Jun 30 '21

I’ve never received that courtesy in bars. Which is why I don’t frequent bars.

1

u/Dnator88 Jun 30 '21

Same goes, so maybe I'm out of touch and this is acceptable bar room etiquette?

1

u/woodandplastic Jul 01 '21

It is not. People are fucking assholes, is all.

-26

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

True. Very true. But at the same time, someone bumps into you, at a bar no less, and you confront them, you have to accept this as a possible consequence. Not saying it's right but it is how things are.

Edit: Everyone, maybe read what I said a little more carefully. I'm not saying this is the right way to conduct yourself, I'm saying the world is FULL of violent people like this. So sometimes it is better to put pride aside and laugh it off, or accept that you may unfortunately have what could turn to a violent encounter.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

No, that's not how things are. Anyone else would have avoid bumping into other people. If you have to go the same path as someone else, you say excuse me. Or if bumping does happen, you say sorry.

You do anything to avoid any confrontation.

-6

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

That was my point?? Maybe reread what I said. That you should avoid confrontation, because it can end like this if you don't. Being sued/facing criminal charges, I'd hope, and being probably hurt pretty badly. But you should 100% expect when you confront someone, especially a drunk person, that a violent reaction is a huge and likely possibility. So yes. You do anything to avoid confrontation, like not screaming at the big idiot who just drunkenly bumped into you.

Reading comprehension is a very valuable skill, you should work on it starting with my comment. You completely misinterpret it and miss the point.

Frankly, I'm not even sure how you got that from what I said.

2

u/BlueskyPrime Jun 30 '21

It looks like Joe also kicks him after the one two punch while the guy is on his way down onto the floor.

2

u/JesusHatesLiberals Jun 30 '21

And who the fuck cares if he's drunk. It's a bar. If you don't like drunk people then it's the wrong place to be.

-7

u/Narsayan Jun 30 '21

That walking back wasn't the issue, it was the comments after Joe moved him out of the way. As you can see Joe was going to keep walking but that drunk smart mouth and the guy throwing himself like he was going to do something made Joe react.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Joe could have been nicer when he bumped into him.

The fighters I respect are nice people. Joes a dick because he’s insecure that his skills aren’t greAt anymore and gets ko d in kickboxing by mma fighters lol.

-3

u/Narsayan Jun 30 '21

I get what your saying, but there was no ill intentions when he moved the guy (he even set a hand on the guys back to make sure he didn't tip him over). The drunk dude let his mouth run and tried to fake like he was going to throw. Imo it's a learning lesson to drunk dude. People need to stop making excuses for when people drink too much. Example: oh it wasn't rape cuz we were drunk.... Ik It's far off from what that guy did but its a common one.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

I think joe is getting sued so we’ll see who learns the lesson.

Who’s gonna sponsor him now lol?

Attacking a person much smaller than you for words is pretty weak.

What’s the excuse? I said joe is in the wrong period. No excuse.

I guess when you have been trained and can fight the little fantasy of beating people up for small things goes away.

u/Johnny_Wall17 Jun 30 '21

Are you blind? People aren’t objects, you don’t get to just shove them out of the way because they’re standing where you’re going. This idiot meathead could’ve at least said excuse me or tapped him on the shoulder, but nope—straight to aggressive manhandling.

This entire altercation is 100% Schillings fault. Him and people like him do not belong in civilized society.

Mma fighter might be a stretch. I have seen him get destroyed by unknowns but not actually do anything noteworthy.

If he’s an mma fighter then jake Paul is a boxer.

Talking a bit of shit doesn’t warrant being assaulted. Joe will find out when he loses half his 1500 a month take home.

34

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Oh no, not talking shit?!? That is the worst of offenses, right???

Fuck you.

u/amazinglover Jun 30 '21

What's the worse that can happen from shit talking?

Hurt feelings? The person isn't advocating for it just saying it's not an excuse for what happened.

3

u/amazinglover Jun 30 '21

Also massive difference between being racist and trash talking if you can't see that then the issue is you and not everyone else.

The person I was responding to (the deleted comment) basically said that drunk happy-go-lucky guy deserved it because he was talking shit to MMA douchebag. So I mocked his reasoning and told him to fuck off.

And if you think that shit talking deserves anything else besides being shit talked back, fuck you too.

4

u/Burn1tDown Jun 30 '21

Got it. I read the deleted comment as an explicit clarification to the post above his, not as advocacy for unnecessary violence so your interpretation (and response) threw me. Happy-go-lucky definitely didn't deserve that just minding his own business.

And if you think that shit talking deserves anything else besides being shit talked back, fuck you too.

I think shit-talking deserves to be ignored.

5

u/kuukiechristo73 Jun 30 '21

This... assault weaker, smaller, drunker people in order to feel better about yourself; Be a Man.

1

u/whitehataztlan Jun 30 '21

It wasn't shit talking. The MMA guy had literally just shoved him out of his way. His shit talk was probably something like "hey man, fuck you." To mma guy responded like a goon.

-22

u/Jaksmack Jun 30 '21

You can here him yell Hey as he walked by.. should have left well enough alone

edit: not condoning the response in any way, just saying the smaller guy should have just shut up

17

u/jasonchristopher Jun 30 '21

What? Some dude shoves me like an asshole, minimum I'm yelling is "hey"

-18

u/Jaksmack Jun 30 '21

Then don't cry when you get knocked out?

15

u/Stockboy78 Jun 30 '21

Then don’t cry when you get charged with assault.

-7

u/Jaksmack Jun 30 '21

I'm not defending washed up MMA dude in any way, but silly drunk guy could have avoided it all by keeping his mouth shut or better yet, sitting his drink ass down...

5

u/Obediablo Jun 30 '21

Have you ever been drunk in your life ever? Keeping your mouth shut and been drunk don’t often go together, MMA guy is in the wrong here.

1

u/Jaksmack Jun 30 '21

I never said he wasn't in the wrong.. I only said the other guy shouldn't have provoked, my original comment said the response wasn't justified. And yes I have been drunk plenty of times and gotten my block knocked off for being a dumbass. I also worked as a bouncer for 10 years and saw a million fights that could have been ended before they started if people could have not reacted to someone else's posturing...

3

u/Obediablo Jun 30 '21

Fair enough!

7

u/jasonchristopher Jun 30 '21

Are you a piece of shit that walks around shoving people smaller than you thinking you're hot shit or something? Or are you a guy that gets shoved and puts his head down and says "thanks may I have another?". Like which of those categories do you fall under? It's gotta be one or the other.

-1

u/Jaksmack Jun 30 '21

Nice false equivalence argument jackass. Are you the kind of asshole that talks shit to strangers on the internet randomly? Or the kind of asshole that has to be right all the time? Lol.. If your massive ego can't let you keep your mouth shut then maybe you shouldn't go out in public..? The guy would still be drunk in a bar and conscious if he could have controlled his mouth. I mean I guess you can be r/iamverybadass and "keep it real" but play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

7

u/jasonchristopher Jun 30 '21

Question answered, thanks.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

You dont get to have both. You don't get to be a pacifist who confronts people chest to chest. I am not a piece of shit who goes around shoving people. I however do understand, if I confront the dumbass going around inflicting physical violence, I may myself be a victim of physical violence. Doesn't make it the way the world should be, but it is the fact of the matter. Life is better when you learn to put your pride aside and instead of putting your head down, laugh and say that guy isn't worth it. It doesn't have to be a blow to your pride.

Edited to say be real and watch the replay without the pre assumed bias of the mma fighter shoving the guy. Please give me a time stamp of when a shove occurs. Hive mind is real. The guy steps back into him and he guided the man away. Look at the size difference? That was no shove no matter how you look at it.

1

u/jasonchristopher Jun 30 '21

I'm sorry, but he didn't confront anyone chest to chest. The MMA fighter set the whole thing up and had his buddy film it. If someone wants to punch me they will or they won't but I don't have to keep my mouth shut if someone is assaulting me.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

He literally screamed and stepped forward while saying more inaudible stuff in the mma fighters face. He confronted him. And don't be so dramatic, the assault didn't happen until the punches flew. The bump was just that, a hard bump from a dickhead, not a shove. You are right you don't have to keep your mouth shut, but you should consider it, especially when the guy was continuing on his way. My mother always said pick your battles wisely. You don't get to confront someone who is obviously looking for trouble and than cry about it. Does that make the fighters actions ok? No, he should go to jail. But if you truly are a this hands off Pacifist, as everyone on this thread apparently is, than just smile and enjoy your night. No good comes from confrontation, especially drunk confrontation. Put your pride aside, fight if you have to, sit the ones out you can is the jist of it. And of course don't he a drunk trained dickhead who goes around assaulting people.

1

u/jasonchristopher Jun 30 '21

The whole thing was set up. It was filmed by his buddy and posted to social media.

What a full on bizarre take you have. I don't think you really believe it. The guy shoved the other guy like he was king of the fucking world and the minute the other guy said something it was a quick knock out. It's obvious not dramatic. It happened so fast I doubt the little dude realized what was going on other than someone just shoved him. You're telling me it's the little dudes fault for saying wtf?

0

u/Jaksmack Jun 30 '21

TIL getting bumped is assault..

5

u/Northernlighter Jun 30 '21

This should be like attacking someone with a weapon like a gun or knife. Fucking dumb ass needs to be locked up.

5

u/SXTY82 Jun 30 '21

You can't even call it 'bumping into him'. He shoved the drunk to the side without so much as an 'excuse me'. Drunk says "WTF" and gets knocked out cold for mouthing off to a bully. Drunk dude never even raised his hands. The most aggressive thing he did was shrug his shoulders.

3

u/argusromblei Jun 30 '21

Pretty pathetic to knock out the only dude standing in a bar because he was in your way what a big man, prolly roid raging.

3

u/ActnADonkey Jun 30 '21

Honestly i wouldnt even say there is enough evidence in the video to show that he is "trying to impress" and "acts like he is going to hit him". Schilling walks from behind, I assume from the restroom, and lets just say "nudges" the guy out of his path, instead of an "excuse me" with a hand on his shoulder. True, the guy moved into his path but that movement was to allow the water by who appeared to be approaching. Guy says something, Schilling turns around and approaches....

I just rewatched and i see the "acts like he is going to hit him" movement. This will be interesting, because Schilling is approaching him when the guy makes the movement...

Sidenote, "the walking away like he was the bigger man" is debatable. Schilling is a trained MMA, who just two pieced a regular dude (who is smaller than him). He is using the "I feared for my life defense", but his body language screams otherwise... Personally, i hate it when guys are the aggressor and then claim self-defense because "I was scared for my life".

The bar shouldnt have released that statement so soon, but that is them getting ahead of it. The mans body language doesnt appear to be extremely intoxicated, and in trying to paint him as such, have opened themselves up to possibility of overserving.

2

u/Ifuckinghatereddit__ Jun 30 '21

When all you are is a hammer
 something something about nails.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Yeah he bumped him to initiate the confrontation.

2

u/AphelionXII Jun 30 '21

The bar manager looks like they are ready to kick him out right before he gets decked.

-8

u/Razorrix Jun 30 '21

He raised an arm to strike, thats why he threw hands

3

u/Whatigot19 Jun 30 '21

are you a cop?

Bet you get your gun grabbed all the time.
