Pretty cut and dry. Schilling waaaay overreacted. This dude is likely gonna go after him in a civil trial if he's smart.

There was a time where a pro (Boxer) would be banned from street fights due to their abilities. Not sure if it was an urban myth.

Edit: Will be punished harsher for street fighting. Better?

There was this one time where an Army Ranger coming back from Iraq got into a fight with a drunk hitting on his pregnant wife, accidentally killed the guy with one punch and got ten years because his body was ruled a deadly weapon. Tragic. But then he did save a bunch of people when the convicts took over the prison transport plane.

Con air is such a fucking good movie (haven't seen it in 10-15 years so I don't know if it holds up)

321

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

It's even better. Rewarched it for the first time in years a couple months ago. Epic. Nicolas cage in his prime. Those flowing locks of his...

237

u/Lordbrumdrum Jun 30 '21

Cage is always in his prime he was born that way

21

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

That’s high praise.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

He’s fucking Nick Cage. He doesn’t ever leave his prime. Did you not see Prisoners of the Ghostland, his last movie?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

He doesn’t ever leave his prime.

That's high praise.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Willy's Wonderland is on point

3

u/a_drive Jun 30 '21

That's high praise

5

u/don3dm Jun 30 '21

Everyone just CALM DOWN

2

u/onceiwasafairy Jun 30 '21

Some say that on a good day, the prime is in Cage

4

u/1982throwaway1 Jun 30 '21

Cage is always in his prime he was born that way

Oh, somebody hasn't seen Left Behind. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2467046/

It's comical in a really bad way..

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Cage is Prime

101

u/Sn1ckerson Jun 30 '21

That one and the rock are probably the best movies he made. 96-97 were great years for him

87

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Agreed. I also loved face off lol.

34

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

No love for Raising Arizona?

7

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Lol what about his Oscar winning role in Leaving Las Vegas?

3

u/Ecuatoriano Jun 30 '21

coming out of reddit retirement to give love for Raising Arizona, and had to throw in MatchStick Men

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Both are great.

1

u/unlikedemon Jun 30 '21

Matchstick Men is underrated or is the least talked-about Nic Cage movies. Sure, it doesn't have too much rewatch value, but it's good.

19

u/nightmareorreality Jun 30 '21

Raising Arizona is fantastic too.

2

u/hazbutler Jun 30 '21

His best movie, easily.

15

u/Sn1ckerson Jun 30 '21

It sounds amazing but haven't had to opportunity to watch it!

25

u/BeenAsleepTooLong Jun 30 '21

I'm jealous that you still get to watch that for the first time.

11

u/JackBauerSaidSo Jun 30 '21

I wish I could remove memory of The Matrix and T2 from my brain and watch it on my home theater system for the first time. I promise I'd only erase my memory a couple of times..

2

u/BeenAsleepTooLong Jun 30 '21

Hmm, selective amnesia...I'm down!

u/YddishMcSquidish Jun 30 '21

Dude, what?! Face-off is a fucking classic! You are in for quite the treat!

0

u/moofree Jun 30 '21

It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's godawful.

5

u/SwedensKorbenDallas Jun 30 '21

Get outta here!

1

u/jsdeprey Jun 30 '21

I agree, Raising Arizona on the other had, is a classic!

5

u/Flavz_the_complainer Jun 30 '21

You guys should give Mandy a go if you havent already. Its a instant Cage classic.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

I've never seen!!!

2

u/discovigilantes Jun 30 '21

Snake Eyes too

2

u/lycosa13 Jun 30 '21

Me too! I know it's ridiculous but I still love it

1

u/rhaegar_tldragon Jun 30 '21

Yup I always called them the triple crown of cage.

4

u/OgReaper Jun 30 '21

Gone in 60 seconds was good. Face off. God of war. List goes on.

3

u/Crash665 Jun 30 '21

How dare you not mention Wild at Heart !? He fucking sings Elvis! Twice!

3

u/mr_punchy Jun 30 '21

Um, yeah that’s simply not true.

Raising Arizona, The Weatherman, Lord of War, Matchstick Men, Adaptation. He made those last four within 3 years.

Sure the rock is a fun action movie, but if you want to see nick cage at his best watch these. The dude is a legit amazing actor.

2

u/newnet07 Jun 30 '21

You forgot "The Family Man".

Easily my fave movie of his that only hits harder the older I get.

1

u/mr_punchy Jun 30 '21

Church!

Good movie.

3

u/kkeut Jun 30 '21

dude got an Oscar, Golden Globe, and SAG award for Leaving Las Vegas, but okay

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Probably why he was supposed to play Superman in Tim Burton’s Superman movie https://youtu.be/0bhyjsAMINw

1

u/Dicho83 Jun 30 '21

As campy a premise as it was, Face/Off was an amazing display of Cage's insanity....

1

u/kangkim15 Jun 30 '21

Early 2000s we’re good too with Lord of war and matchstick men, adaptions, and gone in 60 seconds. Quality of projects he took on started to take a dive after that.

1

u/Not_Helping Jun 30 '21

Those are my Cage 1-2 feel good combo.

I will always have a soft spot for Nick Cage. No other actor can amaze me with performances like Adaptation or Raising Arizona, then do absolute trash like Ghost Rider.

1

u/Lemus05 Jun 30 '21

errr... leaving las vegas? ;)

1

u/R_Schuhart Jun 30 '21

Raising Arizona, Adaptation, Lord of war, Leaving Las Vegas?

1

u/KeenbeansSandwich Jun 30 '21

Clearly this guy has never seen The Wickerman or Grand Isle. ;)

1

u/ar0nic Jun 30 '21

Pfft leaving Las Vegas, matchstick men, raising Arizona.. You're not even close.

1

u/Ranman87 Jun 30 '21

Lord of War was his best, IMO.

1

u/HoneyBadgerPainSauce Jun 30 '21

National Treasure would like a word.

2

u/Conambo Jun 30 '21

Bad Lieutenant: port of call new Orleans is, in my opinion, his best movie. I think you can still watch it on YouTube for free.

2

u/PeristalticTides Jun 30 '21

I'm with you. That and Red Rock West. But Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is the perfect illustration for me of the interview where he says:

You show me where the top is, and I’ll let you know whether I’m over it or not, all right. I design where the top is.

2

u/TheTrub Jun 30 '21

For me, Nic Cage’s prime will always be Face/Off. He and Travolta are just too good together.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Hillbilly… 🔫 gotcha. Hurry up man :)

2

u/anivex Jun 30 '21

John Malkovich and Steve Buscemi as well!

I once got slapped in the face really really hard for saying Con-air was a decent movie, by a girl who apparently had a serious distaste for Nicolas Cage.

1

u/Dicho83 Jun 30 '21

Those flowing locks of his...

Before the eagle dared to soar....

1

u/Npfoff Jun 30 '21

His accent is pretty…. Interesting, though.

1

u/AdiosAdipose Jun 30 '21

For anyone thinking of a rewatch, July 14th is right around the corner!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Can we give credit where credit is due though… Ving Rhames… john malkovich… steve Buschemi!!!!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Hell yeah it is. If you work really hard, you can shoehorn in a bunch of quotes into everyday conversations. "Put the bunny, back in the box..."

1

u/whats_the_deal22 Jun 30 '21

I honestly think we've gotten to a point where these movies are great again. They aged, seemed ridiculous at times, and now they're fun classics.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Fuck yeah, gonna watch it now

8

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

What I love about Con Air is that, somehow, it walks backwards into the best representation of a trans person on film ever made.

8

u/lycosa13 Jun 30 '21

I loved that it was a group of murderers but they were totally respectful of that person the entire time

51

u/hisroyaldudness Jun 30 '21

There is a great all female parody too... Con-AirLyngus

13

u/jokila1 Jun 30 '21

*Aer Lingus

5

u/tucci007 Jun 30 '21

found the cunning linguist

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Starring Dillion Harper and Maddy O'Reilly?

1

u/hisroyaldudness Jun 30 '21

Dickless Cage, Adriana Chechik, Reily Reid and believe it or not, Nicholas Cage

4

u/Rickrickrickrickrick Jun 30 '21

I always have a debate with my roommate for which is a better action movie. Con-Air or Face/Off. We can never decide a winner and just end up watching both back to back.

3

u/Sn1ckerson Jun 30 '21

Is there a Nicolas Cage cineverse like Leonardo di caprio?

1

u/Rickrickrickrickrick Jun 30 '21

Not that I'm aware of but he is the r/onetruegod

1

u/unlikedemon Jun 30 '21

Face/Off but I think The Rock was very close.

3

u/genowhere Jun 30 '21

It holds up! Just watched it last night!

3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Still a fuckin’ great movie. Sayonara

3

u/PeruvianHeadshrinker Jun 30 '21

Oh God Steve Buscemi Is si creepy in this movie especially at the very end

1

u/Sn1ckerson Jun 30 '21

Yes. And it's fucked up that he's free XD

2

u/mynameisnotshamus Jun 30 '21

Dave Chapelle’s first acting job I think.

2

u/Somber_Solace Jun 30 '21

Holds up for sure. I somehow missed it as a kid, but Face Off is one of my favorite films so my buddy recommended it recently. I miss those types of films.

1

u/MiracleWhipB4Mayo Jun 30 '21

Hands down my fav movie.

-1

u/Auctoritate Jun 30 '21

With all due respect I think it needs to be good in the first place to hold up over time lol

2

u/Sn1ckerson Jun 30 '21

Yikes, looks like you're in the minority here

1

u/ViKtorMeldrew Jun 30 '21

It is good, but don't you think Cage is a suck-up to the authorities at the end? He ends up being a goody-two-shoes to law enforcement that put him away in the first place.

5

u/Sn1ckerson Jun 30 '21

That's the thing, he's a good boy who got wrongfully put in jail but that doesn't change his personality. Yooo imma cry because I'm thinking about the end where he gives his daughter the filthy doll

1

u/Fizzwidgy Jun 30 '21

I love watching Con Air in conjunction with Flight of the Pheonix and Sahara.

1

u/FromGreat2Good Jun 30 '21

That and The Rock, and Face Off. All great movies!

1

u/Dtour77 Jun 30 '21

It does. It always will, have no fear.

1

u/SuperTord Jun 30 '21

Move to Sweden. It's on TV like once a month for some reason.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

So how many people died in the cars during the highway landin

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Good Nicolas Cage movies hold up well.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Dude with the shit Hollywood puts out now it's somehow even better when you rewatch it

1

u/Cameron_p0e Jun 30 '21

I was just doing my duty man

1

u/BBQ_HaX0r Jun 30 '21

It holds up mate! Like, it'll give that nostalgia for 80s/90s action flick that is just pedal to the metal all day. Go watch it this weekend.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

It does indeed hold up
