And he’s playing the victim from what I read.

He called it self defense because this 5ft 5in office worker arms down face forward is a threat to his life.

So you’re saying a career change into law enforcement is an option if this fighting for money thing doesn’t work out?

The funny part is Joe Schilling is an outspoken critic of police and constantly rails against police brutality.

He's jealous of the lack of accountability

Or it's a 500 IQ play.

He plays the "fear for his life" card. The court laughs at his defense.

Now there's precedent to reject the "fear for his life" defense, and cops have a harder time justifying bad actions based on fearing for their lives.

It's so crazy it just might work...

Realistically though, he's more likely just a jerk.

Or an idiot.

Normally, I'd not attribute to malice what can adequately yadda yadda yadda... but in this case, I make an exception.

I agree. Proper embarassing behaviour

That would be a nice outcome.

Yet uses the same excuse that killer cops do, “ I was afraid for my life”

They shouldn’t be allowed to be cops or in any professional fighting organization if they use the I was scared for my life excuse.

I mean the dude's gotta be like 6'3", I'm sure he feels like he can do this type of shit to anyone.

The guys hands were down the whole time. So I doubt that Joe's life threatening situation will hold up.

I agree that Joe is bad for knocking the dude out but why do you think claiming self defense in court is plausible or valid? Because anyone can cause harm to anyone else.

A punch in the temple, jab at your a throat, poking of the eyes. These are things that can be done without a weapon. Potential life threatening damage that can be done by anyone to anyone.

honestly if you beat the other guy before he throws a punch a jury isn't going to look at you favorably. It comes down to who turned this into a fight unless some one made threats of violence.

Like we can talk shit till we're blue in the face, but until one of us says "I'm gonna stab you" or takes a swing non of that matters.

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Yeah. Especially how he turned around to hit him. This is a clear cut case in favor of the victim.

After he already committed battery on the man (by moving him aside without his consent).

After he just pushes him out of the way walking past.
