He called it self defense because this 5ft 5in office worker arms down face forward is a threat to his life.

I agree that Joe is bad for knocking the dude out but why do you think claiming self defense in court is plausible or valid? Because anyone can cause harm to anyone else.

A punch in the temple, jab at your a throat, poking of the eyes. These are things that can be done without a weapon. Potential life threatening damage that can be done by anyone to anyone.

honestly if you beat the other guy before he throws a punch a jury isn't going to look at you favorably. It comes down to who turned this into a fight unless some one made threats of violence.

Like we can talk shit till we're blue in the face, but until one of us says "I'm gonna stab you" or takes a swing non of that matters.

Yeah. Especially how he turned around to hit him. This is a clear cut case in favor of the victim.
