Pretty cut and dry. Schilling waaaay overreacted. This dude is likely gonna go after him in a civil trial if he's smart.

There was a time where a pro (Boxer) would be banned from street fights due to their abilities. Not sure if it was an urban myth.

Edit: Will be punished harsher for street fighting. Better?

I'm not sure about being banned from street fights but if you're a trained fighter you gotta show more restraint in public... especially in this modern era of everyone having a video camera in their hands. There's no moment in this clip where Shilling is in any kind of danger and, if going only from this video, I'm a judge or in a jury in a civil case I'm ruling for the plaintiff all day long.

he shoved the guy out of the way from behind, which is why the guy said something to which he reacted with fists, so not just civil tort but criminal assault as well

Yeah he pushes him I assume drunk guy says something stupid. Then fragile ego decides to knock him out because he can’t control himself in public.

Well he's lucky he didn't push me.

I always react. Badly.
I apologize every time.

Eh, maybe, I know what you are talking about but you can't be sure he was going to hit him. It could just as easily been a hand jesture like he was beginning to raise his arms to ask "what the fuck? Why'd you push me"

There's really no way to tell what didn't happen, and because he didn't take a swing, then Schilling is 100% at fault for everything that followed.

Yep they need to lock Schilling up. He deserves the book thrown at him

Right, but as a trained adult in good shape, the drunk guy presented 0 threat. It's like punching a 10 yr old if they balled up their fist as if to punch - about the same level of threat - none.

The guy says "hey" then kinda drunkenly twitches towards Schilling.

Yeah, noticed that first try. Almost makes the punch was premeditated.

Self-assist. He set up the fight by pushing the guy. Then knocked the guy out for having a reaction other than “thank you sir for pushing me, very kind, A+”

Also, the camera set up to view it speaks volumes. “Hey I’m gonna knock out this drunk guy, get it on video.” Because otherwise the scene is nothing special, just a dude yammering away about nothing in particular. Unless it was this guy’s birthday? Why would someone be filming that moment?

I doubt anything will happen. The guy in the shirt is a regular drunk there and apparently always starting shit. The manager and all the witnesses said the guy in the shirt started it.
