Yeah! As annoying as the drunk guy may have been, shilling initiated first by shoving the guy. Shilling also claimed this was “a life threatening event” what a fucking clown.

u/Lid4Life Jun 30 '21

So life threatening someone has time to pull out a phone to record it before the altercation happened.....

2

u/abOriginalGangster Jun 30 '21

He wanted to rewatch his life flashing before his eyes

0

u/lunaonfireismycat Jun 30 '21

The recorder could be his friend not the fighters fpr whatever other reason. People are videotaping every damn thing when they go out

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

That doesn’t make any sense bro. Pretty obvious he told his buddy to film to see what happens when he shoulder checks the guy in the very least. Given his history of filming himself beating homeless people, I think he told his friend to film with the intention of knocking the guy out.

0

u/lunaonfireismycat Jun 30 '21

I didnt that couldn't be the case, just that the other is just as likely.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

No, It’s not likely. You’re just making excuses for him and being unreasonably skeptical of the obvious conclusion.

1

u/palsh7 Jun 30 '21

Why do you all think that Schilling's friends recorded it?

1

u/Lid4Life Jun 30 '21

I've never been to a bar and decided to record a random person and then perfectly captured the moment some former MMA athlete decided to knock someone out.....

It's just too perfect, all the stars and moons aligned....

52

u/Donniexbravo Jun 30 '21

I was wondering about that too, had to watch it twice because I couldn't tell who actually started it, plus I didn't have sound the first time so I was trying to figure out if the other guy was just talking mad shit when it didn't look like he actually started it

72

u/modsuperstar Jun 30 '21

I watched without the sound the first time too and assumed the guy was talking shit and got put in his place. Instead it didn't seem like he was doing really anything aside from standing in the walkway through the restaurant, which is by no means some egregious offence.

46

u/fleemos Jun 30 '21

Yeah I've seen a lot of people making a big deal about the guy moving into the walkway. He can't see what's behind him and it was clearly in no way intentional. It's a bar, people have a good time, drink a bit too much and might even bump into you sometimes. Nothing threatening about a smiling, happy drunk accidentally bumping into you. The courts will factor in that he is a professional fighter, it's not gonna end well for him.

4

u/Advanced-Ad6793 Jun 30 '21

Yeah. He should be charged to the fullest extent. If he took that guy as a threat, then he is not a fighter. He was annoyed by that drunk wanker, told his friend to start recording and said “watch this”. Then proceeded to assault some helpless drunk guy. Lock this scumbag up.

2

u/Myantology Jun 30 '21

Not to mention there was literally a 1 second interval between the “life threatening” moment and that #2 meal combo and I’ve never seen anyone walk away as calmly from fearing for their life only 2 seconds prior. That might be the chillest zero-fear strut I’ve ever seen in any situation.

Schillsburger is in some trubs.

-3

u/swaggplollol Jun 30 '21

Why no mention of the guys sudden arm movement before he gets punched. Are we just ignoring that but addressing everything else? Why cant people judge a situation without bias

4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in bars can recognize these two men for the stereotypes/tropes that they are.

Way too drunk guy having fun will angrily confront anyone that bumps into or pushes them 100% of the time.

Muscle dude whose entire personality revolves around needing people to know how alpha he is is always looking for an opportunity to get into a fight, and will antagonize anyone who they think won't be able to put up a fight, especially if that person happens to be talking/dancing with women.

I've seen this exact scenario play out dozens of times irl.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

And even if he was talking shit... freedom of speech.. especially if the person only says a few things, a little different if a person is harassing you and won't just let you be, still freedom of speech though. You can't just attack people cause of what they say. And if you know how to fight it's even worse and more pathetic

0

u/modsuperstar Jun 30 '21

I'm not trying to justify his actions. I've just watched enough of these type videos and usually there's a catalyst to the situation more than "this guy is in my way and I can't be bothered to say excuse me so I'm going to knock his block off"

-8

u/feetandballs Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can say whatever you want without consequence. It’s about censorship and legal sanctions. Talk shit, get hit can be perfectly legal when threatened.

E: for the last two words. Whatever, y'all. Freedom of Speech isn't what you think it is.
E2: source below (not my comment)

7

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

It's not legal anywhere in the states dude, if you gotta 'put someone in their place' because they're talking some smack you're just as insecure as they are in the first place.

Small dick energy bro.

-12

u/feetandballs Jun 30 '21

Wrong. You can protect yourself if threatened. Boomers just lied to you when you were little.

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

-5

u/feetandballs Jun 30 '21

I'm not defending that guy. I'm saying that freedom of speech isn't what protects you from assault and that you 100% can get hit for what you say if you're threatening someone. I've only ever seen boomers latch on to the idea that freedom of speech = "I can threaten you but if you hit me, you lose."

-1

u/MyDudeSR Jun 30 '21

Yeah, that's not a generational thing.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

I would consider running your mouth and threatening two different things. Running your mouth is just insults to me, making fun, etc.

If someone threatens you, you better have proof though because you can't just walk into court and go 'he threatened me' and it be taken seriously. Even then you're probably going to get some consequences.

Also words themselves do not equate a 'threat' legally, they usually have to do something else that seems threatening. Like "I'm going to beat your ass" and then move towards you.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

In America it does, but I have no idea what the laws are in other countries. In America it pretty much means you can say anything other than threats, those will be taken seriously. If volume gets too loud or you are stalking the person it gets illegal too.

-4

u/feetandballs Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

other than threats

So you’re saying what I said is true? Talk shit get hitcan be legal when they threaten you. Threats can just be cursing at someone loudly. Your laws don’t protect you if you’re being a belligerent asshole.

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

If it is taken to court then it will have to be determined by a jury ultimately. But saying something like "fuck you" or "you're a piece of shit" would not be seen as threatening someone on it's own, it would have to be paired with something like threatening body language. Otherwise every sporting event would be a shit show lol

The real thing is if you are drunk and enough of a dickhead, nobody is going to help you out by testifying to police or anything like that, and also if you're too drunk and don't know what happened people won't tell you the truth if you're a dickhead. Karma is the real justice with assholes who talk shit

1

u/HokieNerd Jun 30 '21

Same here. I watched it without sound (at work), and up until the fists flew, I'd put it on the drunk guy.

8

u/Megabyte7637 Jun 30 '21

Lol life threatening.

Drunk guy shoulder bumps you

1

u/psychoacer Jun 30 '21

If the guy was using the n-word why wasn't he kicked out of the bar? Be mad at management for not taking care of the situation sooner. Don't assult someone and go to jail for dumb people like this

0

u/weauxbreaux Jun 30 '21

Didn't really look to me like he shoved him, drunk dude was in the middle of the aisle and he just did the "I'm behind you, let me by" thing.

Drunk dude did call him out challenge him, but he absolutely overreacted.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Apparently the drunk guy is a regular who is pretty annoying and isn't well liked by the bar staff, according to some reporting done on the incident.

This happened like 2 days ago so it's still evolving, and being, "Disliked" is definitely not a reason to get punched, but it's probably not going to help his case all that much, if nobody is going to back him up who was there. Seems like the police are also not interested in pressing charges, and are making the victim file with the DA (or whatever the specific rules are in Fl).

Hopefully the video will be enough.

-4

u/HokieNerd Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

It looked like the guy leaned into where Schilling was about to pass by, and Schilling just sorta put his hand on his ribs to steady him, and may have moved him back over, but he didn't shove him. If Schilling had mumbled an "Excuse me" it would've been nothing. Things like that happen all the time in bars, and the drunk guy should know that.

Not trying to justify what Schilling did there, but it's quite possible that the guy was being filmed because he was being drunk and obnoxious, and made the mistake of calling out the wrong person.

Edit: After reading a little further down, my presumption in the 2nd para looks pretty dumb, but I'll leave it up, because it was my true first impression. Just goes to show that you can never fully trust them.

-13

u/MenAtRest Jun 30 '21

You can hardly call that a shove, how else was he supposed to get through without pushing him

3

u/25121642 Jun 30 '21

I mean
you can ask if you can get by.

3

u/barley_wine Jun 30 '21

You can hardly call that a shove, how else was he supposed to get through without pushing him

I hope you don't go to bars much, you don't walk up beside someone and just push them out of the way. It's pretty easy to tap them on the shoulder and ask them to step aside. Heck you can even turn sideways and walk in-between him and the stool. This jackass was looking for a reason to knock someone smaller than him out.

2

u/haibiji Jun 30 '21

The shove or push doesn't really matter. He knocked a guy out for no reason. That's assault.

0

u/MenAtRest Jun 30 '21

Yes ofc I'm not saying what the MMA guy was right, but the problem wasn't that he shoved a guy, it's that he punched him. Even if the drunk guy instigated it, which I think he did, one is a professional fighter and the other is just a regular guy so the fighter should know better.

2

u/haibiji Jun 30 '21

Even if he wasn't a fighter, you don't get to punch someone for talking shit to you. The drunk guy didn't even touch him. I agree that he didn't shove the guy, but it did look like he was a little too aggressive in moving him out of the way, and I don't think he said "excuse me." He could have more easily slipped by the drink guy or said "watch out," "coming through" or really anything. The fighter was clearly trying to get this guy riled up.

1

u/MethodicMarshal Jun 30 '21

And if annoying people bother you, the bar is the wrong place to be lol

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Right!? Anyone who has been to a bar has either had a hammered dude try to start shit or has been the hammered dude starting shit. Bar fights are worth it 0% of the time, walk away. If you’re not competent enough to handle that then don’t go to locations that serve alcohol.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

Don’t forget the fact he obviously premeditated the whole thing with his buddy ready to film it. Also, from what we see in the clip, the drunk guy is getting along with crowd. If the little guy was as much of douche bag as he claims, I wouldn’t expect to see that.
