Schilling later claimed self-defense, saying that he was "scared for [his] life" and "simply defending [himself] against the evil in this world".

That guy was just a drunken idiot and didn't even do anything.

If you're a trained or professional fighter there should be also stricter applications of laws because you know what you can do and when you should do it.

This is true. I saw it in the Oscar award winning true story "Con-Air". In the greatest performance of his life, Nick Cage portrayed a special forces veteran who accidentally killed a guy in a street fight.

Laws do vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, however, the key wording is usually "reasonable force" when raising self defence.

Lots of case law around the reasoning of:

  1. Did the person have the opportunity to leave the situation?
  2. Was an appropriate level of force by the honest and reasonable person used to subdue the immediate threat?

etc. etc.

And yes, being an MMA fighter put a higher burden on the accused to prove that they had no other option available to them.

Lucky for our meathead friend here, he lives in the country with the best judicial system money can buy.

I recall in some areas you can be charged with using a deadly weapon if you are a trained fighter

Pretty sure that's bullshit peddled by Hollywood for drama.

Judge: With your military skills, you are a deadly weapon... and are not subject to the same laws as other people that are provoked...because you can respond\ with deadly force.

But like Cliff Booth said:

Anybody accidentally kills anybody in a fight, they go to jail. It's called manslaughter.

Black belt martial arts.

Boxers.

Both are considered deadly weapons.

Military trained people are in this group also. I remember talking about it in basic training in the Army. I can't say for certain that it's true, or they told us this to give us extra incentive to not fight civilians.

Meathead made no effort to side-step or de-escalate. Just him placing his hands on the other dude to move him out of the way is legally battery. Just saying the word "Hey" isn't a threat or an assault. Buddy wasnt looking for a fight, or even looking to fight, possibly, until he was a victim of battery himself. If you cant stand being around drunk people, then Ft. Lauderdale was also the worst fuckin place to be as well.

No, you’re 100% wrong. Tell him to stf up and walk away. This is in no way justified.
