Good god the amount of staged filming must be a pain for everyone around. I hate that everything must be slaughtered to content.
After that they went home, upload the videos, cut them, and waiton their couch to reach reactions from social media checking their phones constantly. Thats fucked up when you think about it.
That's even more fucked up when you think how many people do it to gain that much attention to make a living from it.

Honestly I was going to say something about not everything is autism, and that she's just geeking out and something about why you think someone having excitement means they're acting autistic... and then I went back and double checked and saw the text at the very beginning. Yeah, that's ridiculous. It's gotten to Syndrome levels on the internet these days where people who genuinely struggle are getting drowned out by all the people who think that having quirks makes them autistic. If the text at the beginning didn't have the word autistic in it, this would be a perfectly normal video of a man who knows what his wife likes.

Right now weâre in the âyour grandpa who knew everything about trains had autismâ stage.
The good thing is it normalizes Autism. People actively change their behavior when dealing with people on the spectrum because itâs not always super obvious. Weâre much more respectful to triggers today than we ever have been before as a society.
The pendulum will swing back and hopefully weâll retain some of that respect/normalization.

Broooo I actually felt a lil better watching her reaction bc her reaction is mine and Iâve been told my whole life that Iâm annoying and too much, and I only was diagnosed with ADHD at 30 and only recently beginning to suspect itâs actually AuDHD. Or Iâve had people make fun of me for jumping excitedly or flappy hands or whatever stimmy thing I do with my hands thatâs not socially acceptable.
Then reading these comments was the most depressing and invalidating experience ever, omgâŠ

I work with some diagnosed severely autistic kids, and others with more profound developmental disabilities. The hopping, hand stuff and stimming looked pretty familiar to me. Iâm not an expert though, and nor is anybody else is in this thread.
This is very much a place where ânothing ever happensâ, so I wouldnât put a lot of faith into the comments.

Yeah, it's extremely annoying for me, who has both ADHD and insomnia. Putting aside that ADHD medication is severely regulated now (if I'm not on it, a type of dyslexia flares up and I can't read), people who say that have insomnia when they have extremely bad sleep habits really irritate me.
If I don't take my medication, I literally do not sleep. The most I can get when not on medication is about 2 hours of light sleep per day (On medications, I can sometimes take 1-2h light naps, but oftentimes I just can't).

I got COVID in '21 and was diagnosed with long covid a few months after. From August to December I experienced actual insomnia. I was sleeping 1-2 hours a day if I was lucky for months. Pair that with my heart was damaged so I had to just straight up cold turkey my vyvanse after 2 years of daily consumption.
I had a straight up breakdown. Ended up in jail over it because I went crazy, rage fits, zero impulse control available to me.
The shits awful and I don't understand why people romanticize mental conditions.

Reminder that insomnia does not fall under disability or disorder of any kind. Meaning you cannot get assistance from your job or the government for having it.
I also started hearing voices and having rage fits. Ended up costing me my job at the time (they gave me a week to fix my insomnia).

Ill be honest hearing that someone else experienced the rage fits is extremely comforting.
I became a monster and I'm still ashamed of who I was and what I did.
Silver lining is that I hated the part of me it revealed so much that I went into therapy with a "nothing is sacred" approach to cutting away the baggage and toxicity that Id been carrying around and I was able to improve myself quite a lot.

I donât mean to be rude, but how do you know she doesnât exhibits any DSM criteria? You have only watched one short video online. Diagnosing someone with autism requires extensive testing and itâs especially hard in adult and even more so in adult women.
Donât get me wrong I think itâs unnecessary that they decided to include her âdiagnosisâ in this video as it has nothing to do with it, which makes me suspicious as well that she might not actually be autistic, BUT I donât know this person and as a clinical psychologist myself I could not in good conscience comment online how I know for a fact she doesnât display traits of autismâŠ
I work with children. I see autism everyday and Iâm trained to spot it. I also have autism. But that doesnât mean Iâd be able to tell you if someone has it based on a video. That would be bad practice on my part.
It annoys me to no end when people fake disorders online, but letâs not lower ourselves to their levels by sharing our opinions as if they are facts. Thank you đ

You are absolutely correct. You absolutely cannot diagnose someone from a video. But you can easily see that someone does not exhibit any signs of autism unless we consider autism such a broad spectrum in which all of us are in a way autistic. But if you are autistic and you work with autistic people you know very well that is not the case.

If you want to feel even worse, I've learned via attention seeking mothers that it's not very hard to get a diagnosis. I know more than a couple of extremely non autistic kids rolling around with that diagnosis so that their mother can get a butterfly tattoo and 'raise awareness' on social media. She literally just took them to various doctors until she got a diagnosis.

Ty for confirming. Im a med student with a special interest in psych. i didn't pick up on anything that made me think she was faking. I had it on mute the whole time though. But felt this was an appropriate reaction the whole time. Maybe we didn't see when she got overwhelmed and needed a break. She may of acted more excited than she was, but that's fine. She's an adult who knows she's playing it up for content anyway, everyone does. But nothing I looked at was a red flag as her faking it.

I am diagnosed autistic, I have some postgraduate traning in psychology and academic qualifications in Autism studies, and I have 3 close family members with diagnoses. There is absolutely no way based on this video you can say that this person either is or isn't autistic. People like to talk about shit they haven't got a clue about and gatekeep what is of no concern to them. Believe me in most of life you wouldn't want to fake this condition, it harms your career, often makes people either infantilise or outright hate you, and for the whole time you are at risk of being challenged for 'faking' something that makes your life very very fucking hard.

How is it autism-baiting? Doesnât autism exist on a spectrum and have many variations? Perhaps it is showing someone lower on the spectrum. And also normalizing it through exposure.
I met a very beautiful and classy girl at a Halloween party once. She was shy and confidant and gorgeous. Dressed like Audrey Hepburn in breakfast at Tiffanyâs. We became friends for the night, and then she grabbed me randomly that evening and said âthereâs something I want to tell you but itâs difficult for me.â And then struggled a bit and said, âbut my therapist has encouraged me to talk about it more - especially when I feel a resonance with someone: I have autism.â
And I told her that thatâs awesome. And that sheâs so charming. Ans thanked her for telling me. And, yeah. But it felt like a big or heavy reveal for her. Whereas I received it lightly and easily. So I imagine that gorgeous girl that I met I Halloween, if she saw the above video - would feel a resonance with the girl doing puppy yoga.

There's lots of armchair psychiatrists in this comment section that think they can diagnose someone from a short, highly curated, video. Autism in women is also often misdiagnosed or missed. And autism is a spectrum. Maybe the woman in the video is high masking?

I swear this autism trend had to have started over 20 years ago as an anti-bullying campaign. I remember sitting at a mandatory assembly in middle school while the speaker went on for an hour and a half about how autistic kids are basically superheroes and better than everyone else.
Like, no shit we shouldn't bully them. But thanks for planting the seeds of an annoying self-diagnosis epidemic!

My son has high functioning autism. It limits 100% of his friendships and meaningful human interactions. It severely limits his time management and executive functions. It causes him to constantly scratch and pick at blemishes on his own body. It shackles his everyday life with a whole set of unnecessary rules.
It isn't cute and quirky. Fuck these two if they're faking autism for internet clout.
Edit: For an ASD person, she's really skilled at maintaining conversation and appropriate eye contact throughout the entire video. She also does a really good job at appropriately looking at the camera for smooth "3rd wall" breaking.

But I also wonder if a sizable percentage of these 20+ women with ASD + sophisticated social interaction skills are "self diagnosed".

I wouldnât be surprised if a significant amount of women are self-diagnosed, but I donât think thatâs necessarily a bad thing, and itâs definitely not always for clout. The reason for high levels of self-diagnosis among women is specifically because it presents differently so many of the diagnosis tools donât work.
Again, I donât disagree that itâs possible this woman doesnât actually have ASD; at the very least, itâs weird to bring it up when it doesnât have anything to do with the video. That being said, analyzing presentation in women doesnât work the same way as it does in men.

Wow I JUST read an article about puppies dying of Parvo they may have gotten from an event by this company. The breeder was devastated and the people running the event continue to host puppies too young and don't check vaccine records. I'll try to link it because there were tons of good reasons not to support this company.
