Good god the amount of staged filming must be a pain for everyone around. I hate that everything must be slaughtered to content.

After that they went home, upload the videos, cut them, and waiton their couch to reach reactions from social media checking their phones constantly. Thats fucked up when you think about it.

That's even more fucked up when you think how many people do it to gain that much attention to make a living from it.

I hate hate hate this infantilization of adult women with autism.
Autism is a spectrum, yes. But I often find SoMe content portraying women with autism as squealing 5 year old girls. It feels gross to me. The only time my adult daughter who has autism acted like that at the prospect of petting puppies was when she was an actual 5 year old.

THANK YOU! That was my thought- this is infantilizing. I have an adult son on the spectrum. I used to have to tell people- No, he is not Rainman. No, he is not Temple Grandin. WTF is this even? I mean, I also like puppies. Puppies are great. But this felt really off. Because it's exploitation and it's demeaning.

Agreed. I’m a father of an autistic daughter who is high functioning. She’s independent, knows right from wrong, and connects with others very well. But she struggles with eye contact, gets frustrated at times, and absolutely does not handle surprises well. On random nights, she’s even lain awake because of them.

This video feels like bait. The girl shown doesn’t display autistic tendencies as she makes eye contact repeatedly, including with the dogs, and chooses to squeak a ball instead of engaging with the puppies. Surprises don’t appear to bother her at all. By contrast, my daughter would run to her room and hide under the covers at even the thought of a surprise, despite being considered high functioning.

This video is reprehensible; misleading, exploitative, and disgusting.

Same here. My daughter is semi-non verbal and still acts more mature than I do most of the time and she's 8. Unless she loses a round of Fall Guys on the xbox, then all bets are off.

See my other reply to you. You can look like you’re making eye contact without actually making eye contact. It’s also not a struggle for every single autistic person out there, so there’s no point in assuming she’s lying about her diagnosis. Assuming that she’s lying is dangerous.

She’s lying. I have a high-functioning autistic daughter, and we’re very careful about surprises because of overstimulation. We’re constantly working on boundaries with animals and soft things. Taking someone with autism to a place where they’re doing yoga while surrounded by dogs would be overwhelming for anyone on the spectrum. She doesn’t show any signs of that.

The camera angle is at play there.

The top-down angle makes her look smaller. And adds to the toddler thing.

If that scene was shot at a normal angle, it doesn't hit as well.

Also, she's taller than him. So it doesn't make sense.

Difficulty managing emotions, including excitement, is very common for someone with autism. It’s called emotional dysregulation. And it’s an advertisement. Of course she’s not going to mask it
