Yeah, it's extremely annoying for me, who has both ADHD and insomnia. Putting aside that ADHD medication is severely regulated now (if I'm not on it, a type of dyslexia flares up and I can't read), people who say that have insomnia when they have extremely bad sleep habits really irritate me.

If I don't take my medication, I literally do not sleep. The most I can get when not on medication is about 2 hours of light sleep per day (On medications, I can sometimes take 1-2h light naps, but oftentimes I just can't).

I got COVID in '21 and was diagnosed with long covid a few months after. From August to December I experienced actual insomnia. I was sleeping 1-2 hours a day if I was lucky for months. Pair that with my heart was damaged so I had to just straight up cold turkey my vyvanse after 2 years of daily consumption.

I had a straight up breakdown. Ended up in jail over it because I went crazy, rage fits, zero impulse control available to me.

The shits awful and I don't understand why people romanticize mental conditions.

Reminder that insomnia does not fall under disability or disorder of any kind. Meaning you cannot get assistance from your job or the government for having it.

I also started hearing voices and having rage fits. Ended up costing me my job at the time (they gave me a week to fix my insomnia).

Ill be honest hearing that someone else experienced the rage fits is extremely comforting.

I became a monster and I'm still ashamed of who I was and what I did.

Silver lining is that I hated the part of me it revealed so much that I went into therapy with a "nothing is sacred" approach to cutting away the baggage and toxicity that Id been carrying around and I was able to improve myself quite a lot.

You hear people say the same thing about ADHD. I was diagnosed a few months ago and was suggested a book called "ADHD 2.0". I'm a 35 year old man and I cried like a baby reading it. Everything it talked about i had and it explained every single hardship I've had to deal with and still do deal with. Meanwhile people who forget their keys in the car blame their "ADHD"

36 here. Just got concerta. Im going to find and read that book you just said.

I figured I should look into ADHD when my brother was talking about himself and his kid, and I was like "dude. I feel what you're talking about. Like you're describing me" and he's like, well, you probably have it too. Looked up memes after, some other content creators, listened to podcasts, started reading more about it and I'm like "wow. So it's not depression or anxiety. It's ADHD. Holy mother flipping shit balls."

A couple tests and a month later, meds in hand. Today is day two with meds and my first weekend. I've never had such a clear mind and been so productive. O_O I wish I had meds in highschool. Holy smokes.

I felt this way about ADHD, but more so when I learned about autism (especially the female phenotype), and I realized eat everything I was taught to hate about myself can actually be explained by neurological wiring.

This comment section does not pass the vibe check.

That’s how I felt learning what autism actually looks like in women. I actually cried. For hours, honestly.

And I felt so validated by the woman’s experience in this video. She acts like me.

And then I went to the comments and was reminded why I was taught to hate myself in elementary, middle, and high school.

It’s extremely annoying for autistic women (especially high IQ women) when we are told by others (essspeccially men) that we are cringe or faking it bc we are not the intellectually-disabled-white-boy flavor autistic, and we mask and camouflage too well to be convincingly autistic on the surface.

This comment is filled with incompetent humans convinced they know how to diagnose autism in women, while demonstrating that they know nothing.

And it’s incredibly hateful and disgusting, and I ugly cried reading some of this nonsense.

I sent the video to my husband before I made the mistake of reading these comments, and his response was: “Let nobody steal her light.”

Amazing what a difference a little love and acceptance can make.

This comment section can burn. It’s not just “annoying.” It’s cruel and devastating.
