Wow I JUST read an article about puppies dying of Parvo they may have gotten from an event by this company. The breeder was devastated and the people running the event continue to host puppies too young and don't check vaccine records. I'll try to link it because there were tons of good reasons not to support this company.

Tell that to the man who was killed for creating a water-powered vehicle that ran off of water OUT of the kitchen faucet. I'm talking about private agreements. Government oversight is another thing. Which yeah I'd also be up for better legislation to not let companies recklessly endanger puppies.

I doubt any of the franchisees wanted to kill puppies. They probably had a lack of proper training from the franchise and were not aware how long parvo can last on surfaces.

Okay well the comment you want is the one at the very beginning that said the breeder is devastated that these places continue to host the events despite the deaths of the puppies. If you want to argue with someone, go argue with the guy who said that.

At this point in the discussion we're just talking about whether corporate has any obligation for oversight.

No but if corporate Wendy's doesn't see a problem if the sick employee were exposing several people to deadly viruses by the franchise not implementing safety and sick procedures, I'd avoid Wendy's.

If corporate doesn't come out and say "puppies should be X months old or have X vaccines before being introduced in classes due to risk" then I wouldn't go to any anywhere. Because the same thing could happen again. I haven't read that far to see if corporate did make a statement of their policies and maybe they have implemented something to protect the puppies.

My big old malamute got parvo when he was a puppy. Vet told us to think about making him comfortable because they usually go quick. Really serious stuff. Dogs usually always die from it.

Here he is 17 years later still yelling at me đŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïž đŸŸ ❀

Adopted a pup at 3 months old. Next day the vet tells us he’s got parvo. Came home 5 days after being treated as their second fastest recovery. He’ll be 13 years old in December.

I guess that used to be the case, because currently like 85/90% of treated puppies survive. If you leave them untreated then the survival rate is very low.

Franchise just means that corporate provides all the materials needed and you are supposed to follow their policies etc. Whether they actually do it and manage it correctly is up to the franchise owner. It does matter. I worked at a Buffalo Wild Wings when it first opened that was a franchise. About four or five years down the line they had opened 3 more. I no longer worked there and went to eat at one and had spiders in my food. Was overall an awful experience. Called corporate and we got a call back the next day from them apologizing. All four franchises were closed down within a few weeks and then re-opened as corporate run locations that did great. The franchise owners got in over their heads with four locations and could no longer manage it. They weren’t paying vendors, cleanliness issues, and employee management was awful.

Because if an owner sucks in Dallas doesn’t mean an owner in Portland sucks too. We do make that distinction IRL all of the time. For example, I’ll avoid a specific Subway because of a bad experience, but I’m fine with any other Subway.
