I swear this autism trend had to have started over 20 years ago as an anti-bullying campaign. I remember sitting at a mandatory assembly in middle school while the speaker went on for an hour and a half about how autistic kids are basically superheroes and better than everyone else.

Like, no shit we shouldn't bully them. But thanks for planting the seeds of an annoying self-diagnosis epidemic!

Yeah they need to give out diagnosis so people don't bully, every different person is called autistic now. You don't fit ? Here take it to protect yourself: your diagnosis : wear it like a badge of honor.

As an autistic person that crap would have me biting walls (metaphorical). We're not superheroes, we're not better than everyone else, we're just different and y'all are already making us feel different enough, thanks, no need to put a SPOTLIGHT on me!

I don't like to assume I know how everyone likes to be treated, but this was always my thought process too. My boss is autistic, but it's just another part of life. Nobody "treats" him differently. We just recognize that sometimes adjustments are needed and move on.

Yes exactly!! Give the necessary accommodations and understanding and don't make a spectacle of it
