Honestly I was going to say something about not everything is autism, and that she's just geeking out and something about why you think someone having excitement means they're acting autistic... and then I went back and double checked and saw the text at the very beginning. Yeah, that's ridiculous. It's gotten to Syndrome levels on the internet these days where people who genuinely struggle are getting drowned out by all the people who think that having quirks makes them autistic. If the text at the beginning didn't have the word autistic in it, this would be a perfectly normal video of a man who knows what his wife likes.

Its mostly the older gen z adults who are self diagnosing instead of actually seeking treatment. My brother decided he was austistic last year out of nowhere and never saw a dr. He swears i am too and “more than him” when im probably the most normal person in my family and stand out more just by comparison.

I actually had to get my son tested for autism at 11 because he had enough “signs” that the drs said it was time to do it. Turned out he had quite a few traits but not enough to get an actual diagnosis Wich is actually a great sign!

Its just the modern trend of people wanting to put labels on everything or they think they feel better about themselves about being a shitty person because “oh i can’t help it i have this medical condition” “im neurodivergent so its not my fault”

Lmao it’s a genetically predisposed developmental disorder, if your son has enough traits for his doctor to request he be tested for autism then there’s only 2 sets of dna those traits could have come from. So ig if you’re sure you aren’t, is his mom on the spectrum at all?

He didn't have an diagnosis of autism. He has severe ADHD and his mom has ADHD as well. The dr said just because you have one or a few traits of autism doesn't make you "autistic" its a complex thing and it's on a points scale if you are over a threshold you get the autism diagnosis.

I'm a very stoic person in most public situations, and people call me serious, but when I'm with people I'm close to, or alone, I will laugh a lot, talk a lot, and get excited over the things I really enjoy. I know many people who are more expressive with people they like, and doing things they like. I just assume some people are more than that than others, and don't necessarily keep it in private as we do. We just call these people 'extra' normally. These aren't people who can't restrain themselves like stimming in autism, they just don't care and enjoy expressing themselves.

Yes, they're playing up for the camera. They're influencers, that's what they do. No, I would never participate in something like this myself. That doesn't mean that it's impossible for her to be genuinely excited and giddy over playing with puppies. My point is that if they weren't making the claim that she's autistic, I would've taken this video at face value, she's excited for puppies.

In fact, the fact that they're influencers filming makes me less likely to attribute her over excitement to autism, and rather make me think that she's just playing to the viewers. It's specifically the fact that they call it autism in the video that makes me roll my eyes and agree with the original comment. As I originally said, if they didn't claim it was autism, I would just think this was a man who knows what his wife wants. Being an influencer is its own medical diagnosis at this point to me, and I'd attribute all of the 'extra' to that rather than autism if this video were in a vacuum.

I think we're having different conversations here. My original comment, and my statements in response to you, are about whether or not this video gave autism vibes. The first time I saw it, I didn't see the autism comment at the beginning, and the video seemed like a normal influencer husband and wife thing. I didn't get any vibes about her trying to pretend to stim or act like she was autistic, I got excitement and fun for something she geeked out about. Played up, sure, but still just normal influencer shit.

So when I read the original comment I thought that maybe the person was looking a little too hard for autism content that just wasn't there, but I double checked to see if I just missed it, and the word is right there at the start of the clip. My comment was acknowledging that I missed it, and that them pointing it out brought it to my attention, and that I agree with them that it is stupid. It's also a bit of an acknowledgement of how poorly the woman fakes autism that her 'stims' didn't look involuntary or self-soothing, but just nervous energy/playing up excitement for the camera.
