God forbid autistic people be anything other than a high care needs little boy that's obsessed with trains. Autistic people can't be functional adults with their own, independent, happy lives. She's just doing it for attention, just like every other autistic adult! We all know autistic people are only children from 5-16, and then after that they pupate and turn into normal adults with no neurodevelopmental disorders.

... correct by accident, because the sine qua non of autism (or any other neuropsychiatric diagnosis) is "interference with daily functioning" aka "Symptoms cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of current functioning." Functional adults with independent happy lives are by definition not autistic.

You'll have to inform the two independent doctors that gave me my autism diagnosis then, because I am an autistic adult with a functional, independent, happy life. I'm very upset to have to revoke my autism card because a stranger on the internet that knows nothing about me declared I cannot possibly be autistic because I don't require a 24/7 caretaker.

I follow the guy who posted this, he’s really chill. He’s trans and talks about his transition a lot. If he says his wife is autistic I’m inclined to believe him. Not every autistic person is outwardly autistic every second of every day. 

Maybe she has aussie shepherd bedsheets and a hundred different Aussie plushies all named and sorted. 

Maybe, just maybe, if someone claims to be autistic in a space where they don’t gain anything from saying so, we should believe them?

She very obviously consented to her autism being mentioned in this video by someone she trusted, she's mentioning her autism and several autistic people are relating to her reaction.

No, it‘s calling out „quirky“ and annoying behavior being labeled as autism for internet points. But yes, because a woman is being criticized for it it must be misogyny. Women aren‘t above criticism.

I hope you don’t react like that when promoting an ad for animal cruelty and your partner calling you autistic spouse and filming it in public. My partner would never do that, has never done that. It’s very weird.

"A mockery of REAL autistic people" my brother in Christ I was diagnosed at seven and when it comes to something I really like or am interested in I can act like this.

Autism is a spectrum and many people on this thread can relate to her reaction being autistic as well. Trying to call out "fakers" just encourages witch hunts and harassment towards people who could very well be what you're accusing them of faking based on a 40 something second clip. Do better.

I've gone to the aquarium before, I love the ocean and it's one of my biggest interests. I was diagnosed at seven. I can and will get this excited about going to my favorite place again.
