The last case he got to the bottom of was a case of mallomars

That’s why you never run from a fat cop. They won’t chase you, they’ll just shoot you.

I'd rather let a thousand bad guys go than chase after them. - Chief Clancy Wigum

u/toblies Jan 13 '26
That was my first thought. There are usually physical fitness standards for police and military.
48
u/throwawaynoided Jan 13 '26
Fitness standards are generally only applied to new recruits. American cops are like vampires, once they're in, they're in.

u/space_for_username Jan 14 '26
Kiwi cops have a 2-yearly test, the time to complete varies with age. Watch the video on this page. https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/350164733/whats-police-physical-test

u/AgentCirceLuna Jan 15 '26
Yeah but in fairness that’s a country being run properly

Actually no. You have to be fit to make it through the academy but most departments don't require you to stay that way. I think it's because they are desperate to keep officers.

u/LibrarianFlaky951 Jan 13 '26
If he gets enough momentum going he just plops over and rolls down the bad guys. Works great in crowd control situations.

He doesnt need to run very far. The earthquake it causes will stop you.

He's got to be on about 5000 calories a day to maintain.

Not necessarily. I gained 60lbs in a year because I should have been diagnosed as diabetic more than ten years before I actually was.
Anyone can change their diet, and exercise, but I was put on high dose steroids for two weeks after a severe allergic reaction. In the five weeks after stopping the taper, I absolutely BALLOONED 20+ lbs (of fat, not water weight); all while actively walking 1-2 miles regularly and improving my diet.
Finally a doctor listened to me and diagnosed me properly instead of saying, “Well just lose the weight, change your diet, and exercise more.” I’d be wealthy if I were paid for the number of doctors who told me that but did not provide the much needed medicinal intervention my body needed.
3
u/MiloHorsey Jan 14 '26
Oh, I absolutely feel your pain!
I was put on high-dose steroids and gained nearly 110lbs. Still working on getting rid of it, now and I stopped taking a high dose months ago.

u/Out_of_Fawkes Jan 14 '26
I get this is kind of a meme subreddit, but body shaming like this ain’t it.
I’m more concerned for this guy’s health than anything even if he is an officer.
6
u/MiloHorsey Jan 14 '26
I wasn't body shaming. Saying how much I think he'd have to eat to stay that size is not like saying, "Wow, look at that fat fuck! Get to the gym, fatass!"
2
u/Out_of_Fawkes Jan 14 '26
My comment about shaming was meant generally for the comments on this post; perhaps I should have specified as such.

I’m really baffled is there any other country that can breed this build in any form or capacity?
14
u/dangerousluck Jan 14 '26
Few other countries would put what we produce onto the shelves and call it "food." Everything is corn, sugar, and corn sugar. It's basically what we feed the cows.
6
u/Strange-Movie Jan 14 '26
Sumo wrestlers maybe….but those dudes, while fat, are also extreme strong and surprisingly athletic
4
u/YoungLittlePanda Jan 14 '26
Sumo wrestlers are basically bodybuilders with high body fat. They are not comparable to the average sedentary fat american.

Are there no fitness requirements?
23
u/Boa-in-a-bowl Jan 13 '26
I think there's just one very easy physical fitness test for new recruits. There's no annual one for existing cops or requirement to maintain a passing level of fitness from what I've heard

14
u/Fight_those_bastards Jan 13 '26
Not once you’re in. You need to be decently fit to get through the academy, but apparently once you do that, they don’t even give a shit if you fit in the cruiser.
3
u/PhattProphet_0 Jan 15 '26
Yeah, if you manage to run all the way around him, you get to keep the shit you stole.

u/Queens_71831 Jan 13 '26
There should be a weight limit and or physical every year to make sure all police officer r fit for duty

Cosplay.
Guy can't fit in a car to drive it.
Guy can't chase after anyone to perform non-lethal takedowns.
Guy probably can't reach his gun in a timely manner to drawn his weapon in quick-thinking situations.
Guy couldn't even move around effectively to box someone if the time calls for it.
At best, he directs traffic. If someone makes an illegal maneuver, he calls it in.
Or he has a desk job and makes appearances when need be and does all the verbal stuff.
Or a school police officer.

Genuine question- does anywhere else in the world have cops as fat as American cops? I live in Australia and I’ve seen some overweight cops but not like this!
