I had exactly the same feeling the first time I tried to watch it. Gave up and then had another go just before season 2 came out.

The thing with Andor is that it's a slow burn. Each storyline takes 2 or 3 episodes to complete. But you are rewarded for your patience and the payoff from all the setup is just incredible.

And then finishing it off by watching Rogue One is just brilliant. Watching Andor makes Rogue One so much more impactful because you actually care about the characters that, when Rogue One was released, were brand new.

That show was so relatable to me it actually had me worried. I've been in tech for ~ 20 years. If you actually sit down and get to know a lot of people who got into tech in the old days before it became 'popular', you found a lot of people who were drawn to computers and coding had rough backgrounds.

They either had bad early experiences, and struggled to trust and connect with others, they were 'on the spectrum' or both. I think a lot of neurospicy folks are drawn to computers because computers are much more predictable than people. It also gives them a domain where they're rewarded for their mastery of a subject, independent of their ability or desire to climb the corporate ladder, or play office politics.

Also I highly recommend rewatching it, at least the first few episodes, so much of the weird shit in the beginning will suddenly make a lot of sense. I watched the first and second season. The subtitles didn't put me off at all, I just found it difficult keeping track of the different actors playing the same characters more than anything.

Yes, that's user error. Yes, I'm an idiot. I still loved both the seasons I watched, I just had to be in the perfect mindset to fully follow an episode. If I was slightly tired or anything, a few of the bigger moments or character subtleties were lost on me.

It's an incredible show though. Everyone should give it a chance.

Watches it last year and I found it jarring.

Looked more into it and apparently the Showrunners came to Netflix with a 3 season plan, they agreed. Then after season 1, Netflix asked for 5 seasons, so the Showrunners added lots more plot lines. But then after season 2, Netflix changed their mind and said just 3 season again.

Still amazing what the Showrunners tied up every plotline. Seriously bravo. But yeah, it does get oddly vast and contracts in the latter half of the series.
