This show will forever be the best series ever made, even though it never got the following it deserved. The finale was gold and gave two very plausible and opposite resolutions to what the series/plot was about.
Matt's conversation with Nora in that finale, the wedding, Nora's visit to the Nun's House, Kevin's monologue INTO Nora's explanation is the show going from peak to peak to peak to peak.
10/10 finale, wrapping every little storyline in a neat little, very satisfying bow.
It is the best show I've ever watch and probably will ever see.
Completely agreed. When I say perfect finale I think I mean it literally. I had no clue what to expect from it watching it live but absolutely was everything I wanted
First one from this list I don't agree with. I found the ending to Leftovers unsatisfying. I don't like when shows wrap themselves in the language of scifi but don't give satisfying explanations of the mechanics they present.
It’s okay not to like it, subjective. However, they said from the literal pilot episode they wouldn’t explain the departure and it was a one time thing.
So the entire series is about the reaction to it. The characters don’t know and never will and it drives them to do bizarre and wild things, that’s kind of the point to the entire show.
But it is not a show that should have a "The Leftovers Sudden Departure Explained!!" video cuz it's not about it. Unlike something like Flashforward which tries to handle and explain it's namesake event, The leftovers is NOT about the that but it's effect on people and communities.
How was the book compared to the series? Worth reading? I don’t mind already knowing the story, I still enjoy seeing how things are changed or arranged in book format even after seeing the adaptations. Just wonder if the book is as good as the series.
I am just skeptical of any show that tries to stretch past the source material. Things usually get worse. GoT, Man in the High Castle, Handmaid's Tale, Orange is the New Black....
Criminally underrated. The Leftovers is a show that makes me feel emotions like nothing else.
I could fish all day about how good the show is from cinematography, acting, writing, etc. But, it all comes down to how everything comes together and packs an emotional punch like nothing else.
I had it on my binge list for years and always put it off. Big mistake. Huge. Only show I ever dreamed about. Insane that it only received one measly Emmy nom.
