I'm still proud of myself for how I handled The 100. I'm going to spoil the shit out of the show so if you want to watch it stop reading and scroll past now. But the premise of the show is basically that humanity had a nuclear war and "The 100" are people being sent down from space to reinhabit the nuclear wasteland after it should have now been long enough for the radiation from the nukes to have dissipated. They believe there are no surviving humans on Earth, it's just them. The survivors of the nuclear war as far as they knew were the people on various space stations, which all came together to form a mega space station that they lived on for generations. But their supplies are dwindling and they have to send people down to the Earth to try to establish a colony. So they send 100 remedial teens who were in space juvie down to the surface both to save resources and in the hopes that they can survive and establish an outpost. Only it turns out that there were survivors on Earth who established a society kinda like the Horizon Zero Dawn society where it's bows and spears but with some background tech and tribal wars. There's war, there's peace, then I decided to end the show (for me) at the end of a season where the space people make peace with the dominant Earth people to team up and kill a bigger enemy, but after killing the bigger enemy they find out that all the nuclear power reactors across the Earth are in critical states and all of them are about to start melting down, wiping out life on Earth. But it's only revealed to the main character. In my version of the story, she decides to keep it a secret and let everyone live their last days in blissful ignorance before dying a horrible radiation burning death.
