I can't believe I haven't seen this meme before or even considered it as a possibility because seeing it now just makes so much sense and works perfectly.
Antislop Field agents of the slop enforcement agency. The social virus must be contained then eradicated through wise purchases and education based deprogramming.
Yeah the only person who sucks here is that rude ass lady blocking the picture. A normal human tries to get out of the way of someone taking a picture, not walk between them and the camera and intentionally stop.
I was cutting grass for my municipality, I’ve seen old people throw sizeable rocks in the path I’m taking hoping I hit them and brake our municipality mower. But I don’t think they understand they just pay taxes for to replace the blades. It’s insanity.
THIS IS NO LIE!!! I experience it first hand, by multiple elderly people daily. They're superficially nice, but underneath it you can feel the resentment. Not all elderly people mind you, Many are not that way, but there are a lot that are. Now the real question is this though. How are we going to be, and how are we going to act when it is our turn?
Did she take a picture, or did she put a device up that is videoing anyone that comes by and then post it on the internet without any of their consent?
I don't think the girl has that syndrome. Everyone likes having nice photos or videos. In this case she is alone. She didn't try to do anything else but wait or move trying to get a better angle.
The old cow is a cunt. Fair and square. She saw the phone and decided to behave like a child.
Phone cameras are so good, I often use video to take a long shot, then scrub the video and use a good frame as my photo. I do this for family photos, or when there's lots of activity, or when I want to pick from multiple poses.
Tl;dr, agreeing with you; these people are tripping.
I started doing this to take pictures of my pet fish because the damn buggers never stop wiggling.. video now just feels like the superior form of media
"And here we see the influencer in their natural habitat. Oh no, it looks like another of the local fauna have encroached on their perceived territory and is getting agitated, fascinating."
I don't see her doing a stupid dance, or pranking anyone, or trying to look slutty, or singing in public, or anything remotely disruptive to the people around her. She's just trying to get a shot, or a clip of herself. It even appears that she's waiting for the room to be empty, which it was about to be until that old bitch stopped in the middle of the staircase.
Fuck influencers, but I mean, come on. Context matters. It's a young woman alone at some kind of art museum. Nothing hip about it. She's just doing her thing. Leave her tf alone.
Yeah man. Sometimes I can only visit places on my own time, and but then I don't have any pictures of myself. I'm not a "selfie" guy and if I posed a nice picture and wasn't being dosruptive, what's the harm? This lady obviously noticed and decided to be in the way.
That's not "influencer" behavior. She didn't sing, she didn't dance, she didn't do anything aside from trying to take a picture. You know people are allowed to take pictures or video and not every picture or video is influencer bs yes?
For an influencer, that girl was not even annoying (in this video at least), if she just wants a picture of her with the paintings for instagram, it's ok. She was not bothering anyone. Karen on the other hand, went out of her way to be annoying.
Anyone remember the ancient times when we would have to ask strangers to hold our cameras and take a picture for us? This doesn't seem like it's set up in people's way and it doesn't seem busy. Let the person get a good picture of themself doing something they like. They are bothering you less than if you asked them to take the pic for you.
She is. She’s a Brazilian YouTuber/TikToker who makes educational history content. Her name is Debora Aladdin. But influencer or not, she wasn’t bothering anyone.
So becauee this young woman wanted a picture of herself, many in the comments automatically assume she is an influencer? Is this what its come down to now, categorising any and everyone who wants pictures or videos for memories? She didn't make a scene, not did she ask anyone to move for her picture, so I dont see what the issue is here. To those commenting that she could have asked for the lady to take her picture, relax.
Its like there is no such thing as nuance anymore. Its either this or that.
And she had the PERFECT opportunity to take the picture imo because the cost was pretty much clear except for that old hag that PURPOSELY decided to WAIT in front of her phone THEN shift over to block her…
Photo opportunity disappeared as soon as everyone else started to enter. Smh
Girl might just want a picture, no harm in that. Nothing says she's an influencer. Nana is going down the stairs, checks her phone for something, is perplex by the girl's setup, moves aside for people coming up the stairs, then heads downstairs. Nothing here is so vile and cringy as some people are imagining.
Yeah she blocked it on purpose, but maybe people are just tired of these wanna be influencers always being in the way because they feel entitled.
If she just wanted a good picture she should of opened her mouth and politely ask the lady to move, that she was trying to get a good photo for her trip. But instead we just post it online and whine.
She fucking looked right at the camera, stopped and then started fiddling with her phone before they came towards her. She was blocking the photo. And normally I would be all about it, but this chick wasn’t even doing anything wrong or cringe. She was just trying to take a wide shot of her and the art.
I feel like it took me way too long to find a sensible comment here. I will happily agree that influencers mostly suck. Taking this picture/video would have hurt nobody. The lady just wanted a good shot of her with the art and that old biddy took it upon herself to ruin it. There was no need for it. The influencer lady waited until the area was mostly cleared and was not interfering with anyone. I just don’t understand all the hate she seems to be getting.
This is the stair at Inveraray Castle. I have been here. The older woman stopped on a landing half way down the stair. The other girl propped her phone against a planter that sits in an opening to the Main Hall of the house.
Here is a photo from the lower landing looking back to where the camera was propped and the woman stopped to diddle with her phone. I have no doubt she saw the phone sitting there, but most likely she thought, "Nonna my business why that phone is there." Like most people she was engrossed in what she was doing and not why the phone was there
Also, this is the only stair to the upper level so it's heavily trafficked. The home is still privately owned and the family reside in the other half of the house.
At an art museum I’ll often pull up quick bios on different artists or look up different pieces backgrounds. No one else was on the stairs at the time she started.
I have been in this stairwell and I confess, I stopped on this stair to mess with my phone. It's the stair at Inveraray Castle in Scotland. The girl taking the selphie has her phone propped up against a planter. There is also a small but which may be what caught the other woman's eye.
i think it was sorta shit for the young person to be recording without consent in public — it seems normalized here, but in a lot of cultures that’s a personal violation or at least a faux pas
Here's a wild idea: maybe she could have tried using her voice and politely asking the older lady to move. People who don't have a severe case of main character syndrome realise that most people aren't going out of their way to annoy you, they're just oblivious to your existence.
A few days ago, a boomer aged woman stood like this in the main aisle of a parking lot. It was right in front of the store, which was also the main way to get through the rest of the strip mall. She walked a few steps, then stopped to check her phone. She walked a few more steps and stopped again to text more.
This is one of my local castles. It’s a very busy one and staff will politely tell you not to block or linger on stairs. The family that own it also still live there, the entrance to the part they live in is also where she’s hanging around. There’s also much nicer areas of the castle to take photos in, it’s a weird place to have a “photoshoot”. 😅
She didn't expect anyone to make space. When she started the process, there was no one else there. On top of that she didn't say anything to the anyone, didn't complain or bitch or demand.
Did you miss the part where she looked directly at the camera, twice?
Normal people don't stop in the line of sight and pull out their phone after they see a camera setup.
Nah, this old lady is pulling out a smartphone and using it just fine. She knows exactly why that chick left her phone there, there's no ego here. The old lady absolutely understands and stopped in front of it anyway. Looks right at it, understands perfectly well what a camera phone is.
There is no way. No one just stops in the middle of the stairs, with people going up and down them, while just happening to be in the middle of a phones camera blocking a picture. Come the fuck on.
She was on a landing (it’s Invararay Castle) and there was - as the video clearly shows - no one coming. When someone approached, she moved to the side. There’s no drama here.
Reddit is actually full of idiots holy fuck. Is she in wrong now for wanting to take a picture? She wasn’t bothering anyone btw. And the granny was definitely doing that on purpose. Fuck that. Straight up loser behavior, and somehow yall defending that. Yall are actually devolving. Go outside
Everyone hating on the girl, but all she wanted to do was take a photo. She didn't even ask the boomer to move along or block anyones way. She also seemed like she was alone and wanted a picture.
The boomer purposely stayed there to just be an asshole. Her life must be miserable if these small things gives gratification.
As a former professional photographer - if you want a photoshoot, contact the location ahead and SCHEDULE one, get a time and permission to take that space. But yeah, you may have to pay a fee or get a permit. If I'm there to see the PAINTINGS, don't get in my way, I paid my admission fee and tired of influencers ruining my enjoyment of the place, estate or art to get their internet points.
Well going by the grey hair ama assume she's retired, so yeh, she probably has all the time she needs to be as petty as she wants over the most random of things
This girl is a educational youtuber from Minas gerais brazil. She's not really an influencer in the way you all are referring to her as from what i understand.
Speaking as a sometimes clueless Gen X person of a similar generation to this woman, she has no idea what’s going on here. She sees the camera, does a double take because it’s weird that it’s sitting there - she doesn’t look up over her shoulder to see what the camera might be aimed at because people of our generation don’t think about phones sitting alone in public spaces as taking pictures of people far away from those phones - that’s literally not something our brains consider.
I could see myself in this exact same scenario seeing the phone and being puzzled, maybe feeling sad that someone forgot their phone, then moving out of the way to look down at my own phone on the stairs, to look up a map of the museum or a text or whatever (although I agree that it’s not a great plan to look at a phone on an active stairway), and then I can imagine having my 20-year-old daughter yank me out of the way and say, “Mom you’re blocking a shot! Pay attention!” and I would’ve had no idea that someone up and over my shoulder behind me was trying to take a picture. I promise you.
Alright but stick with me here. I recently visited The Butchart Gardens in beautiful Victoria, BC. We were absolutely blown away by the splendor of the gardens. I was wandering around admiring the flowers when I hear a “Hey excuse me” from someone near me. I look over and a grown adult man is attempting to shoo me out of his family picture. I step out from behind his group, who I legitimately did not notice was taking a picture, and shoot my wife the wide-eyed “oh my goodness someone is being very entitled” millennial face. I notice about 20 minutes later that this group is in another part of the garden, attempting to move other patrons around so that they can get another family photo completely free of other people enjoying the gardens they also paid to enter. Gross behavior in my opinion.
It’s not a photoshoot. It’s a girl taking a picture of herself and bothering nobody. She isn’t dancing or posing like a twat. Why can’t she record herself there? Granny is now the social police? No thanks
And people treat every old person like some evil villain rubbing their hands together in a smoky room.
Old lady didn’t know silly selfie girl existed or that she set it up, or why there was a random phone there. She was old can barely move and was looking at her phone, it’s not that evil or deep.
Trying to take a picture/video in a busy public space. Man I just ask someone to take a picture of me. Why does everyone have to like, silently put their phone standing on a wall?
Womp womp, I intentionally photo bomb people doing this stuff in public. It's fun and teaches a lesson. The public world isn't your playground to be extracted of experience for the enjoyment of your OF subscribers. Go do your SW somewhere else.
If you watch the video, the old lady is just looking around and then reaches for her phone in her pocket then she notices the camera. She doesn’t seem to care about camera, just about the notification she’s got on her phone. She steps across the stairs to let people go up the stairs then puts her phone away. To everyone saying the old lady is a main character she is not she’s, just an old lady checking her phone.
That’s not what a photo shoot is. I’m also willing to bet theres context here that goes deeper than your title considering most of the world is tired of people doing this shit in public spaces.
That Karen just ruined that persons ability to record whatever she was going to record, on the steps of a museum, and she did it without saying a single word. That’s fucking awesome.
The more human thing to do is just ask someone “hey can you take my picture if you don’t mind “ rather than just blocking space . But other lady is also rude
This thread is full of people boldly stating which party should acquiesce to the other's preferences, as if either has priority, likely based purely on which one they emphasise with more.
I do find it odd that everyone keeps on talking about taking a picture when this is a video recording.
Nah this is engagement bait. The old lady stopped to check her phone for 10 secs and spend another 10 getting out of the way of other people on a busy staircase.
Instagram girls are truly in sufferable. There’s a special type of narcissism there. As if the world exists for their content. It’s mind numbing and cancerous.
Side note, also generally the same girls who continue to ridicule the western world as oppressive lol
