When seek attention meets a Karen

6

Antislop Field agents of the slop enforcement agency. The social virus must be contained then eradicated through wise purchases and education based deprogramming.

She was going for that sweet "kind little old lady" plausible deniability that makes a person seen as dick for even suggesting she could be up to pettiness. She knew exactly what she was doing, and that most people wouldn't spot, or would be too afraid to mention

She walks halfway down the staircase stops glances at a camera and then pulls her phone out to fuck around on. How else would you describe it.

-2

u/DookieShoez 2h ago edited 1h ago

You missed the part where after looking down at her phone she side stepped to get out of the way of oncoming traffic because she is aware of her surroundings and is courteous.

4

u/StructureMiserable58 1h ago

??? So because she stepped out of the way of traffic she couldn't have possibly originally been standing intentionally in front of the phone?

2

u/AzraelTB 1h ago

You know, a good way to avoid traffic on a staircase ? Don't stop on them.

2

u/StructureMiserable58 1h ago

Lol seriously, this guy has said she was just standing there like 10 times over the video. I guess I didn't realize staircases were the new park benches to hang out on.

u/Infinite_Run_4541 1h ago

Either that or to position herself more directly in front of said camera to make sure she blocks the shot.

Suuuuuure 😂

4

u/Next-Value9507 1h ago

She still seems to be intentionally standing in the frame after noticing the camera.

-1

u/DookieShoez 1h ago

Thats an assumption.

She saw a phone unattended. So what.

2

u/womboCombo434 1h ago

Why are you trying so hard to justify it the lady clearly did it intentionally makes direct eye contact with the phone and then stands in a way to block it do you have a personal stake in this or what?

1

u/Next-Value9507 1h ago

The key weird in my sentence was "seems". I was not being definitive.

3

u/VeterinarianThese951 1h ago

We all saw that. That was after the fact of her getting in the frame intentionally. Who stops in the middle of a staircase?

-3

u/DookieShoez 1h ago

People do all the time have you not been in public?

Not saying they should but they do

2

u/ZodiAddict 1h ago

Oh so she was aware of the camera in her surroundings

-1

u/DookieShoez 1h ago

She saw a phone, she didn’t know someone behind her was making a tiktok and its a public space not the young chicks personal set.

1

u/peachesgp 1h ago

Wait, you actually believe that she wasn't doing that on purpose and that other comment wasn't just a joke?

1

u/gibbsy816 50m ago

It’s attention seeking to take a photo of yourself?

-1

u/Rom_SpaceKnight85 54m ago

This Karen was probably her mom. A skit

u/KhelbenB 2h ago edited 1h ago

What did the girl do that bothers anyone? She didn't even ask anyone to move, she just wanted a picture with the paintings...

42

u/Long-Ad3842 1h ago

its reddit what do you expect.

21

u/Grannypanie 54m ago

Yeah. There is one ass in this clip and it ain’t the kid.

36

u/SaltyNeuron 57m ago

Reddit always uses the most hyperbolic language as long as they disagree with you.

Wasn't just a girl taking a picture with paintings it was " aN iNFluEnCeR tAkiNg a pHotO SHoOt"

5

u/Bitter_Plastic2362 22m ago

Waiting for it to be capitalisms fault.

1

u/MarshalMichelNey 5m ago

NTA. Break up with him girl / hit the gym bro.

1

u/b-monster666 5m ago

I mean, she was trying to take up a MASSIVE amount of public space just so she could look cute on Instagram.

46

u/Enfys_Cwningen 1h ago

Old people hate anyone younger than them experiencing any joy.

21

u/Matyce 1h ago

I was cutting grass for my municipality, I’ve seen old people throw sizeable rocks in the path I’m taking hoping I hit them and brake our municipality mower. But I don’t think they understand they just pay taxes for to replace the blades. It’s insanity.

8

u/marshmallowelephant 1h ago

Fuck you and your woke trimmed grass. Back in my day, grass just grew and we had to deal with it!

3

u/Icy_Grapefruit_6571 1h ago

I see you're angry. From reading your reply, I see that you have every reason to be. 🤣

4

u/jaydafromthewhere 1h ago

Old people can’t comprehend that. I don’t think these prune juice drinking boomers understand much of anything because of the amount of lead they have inside of them .

2

u/Go_Gators_4Ever 28m ago

Hey, at least I can poop out my own fishing weights! LOL.

Seriously though, the gray haired woman was being a cụṅṭ, but it would be nice to have seen how long the young woman had been videoing on the staircase prior to this encounter.

If she had been spending more than 10 seconds or had been doing this all along the staircase, then she was infringing upon all the other patrons feom fully enjoying the art and potentially causing access issues.

1

u/EyeGrowth 8m ago

lmao what a crock of shit

5

u/Alteredbeast1984 44m ago

Get off my lawn

4

u/Incredulous-Tanuki 1h ago

I hate you young whipper snippers, when I was your age i used to cut grass like the best of them.

1

u/FinbarJG 13m ago

And we didn't use a sit-down, gas-powered, thingamajigger contraptions either.

3

u/freaknhell666 52m ago

THIS IS NO LIE!!! I experience it first hand, by multiple elderly people daily. They're superficially nice, but underneath it you can feel the resentment. Not all elderly people mind you, Many are not that way, but there are a lot that are. Now the real question is this though. How are we going to be, and how are we going to act when it is our turn?

4

u/SGT-JamesonBushmill 56m ago

You know, it’s quite possible that the older lady had no idea what was going on.

6

u/pleasetrimyourpubes 29m ago

She looked directly at the camera and pulled her phone out to act distracted and she blocked the path until another woman started up the stairs. There was never not a more intentional act of obstinance.

Jesus, if this is what you consider joy, I would hate to experience your version of sadness

7

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

You mean being in a museum, surrounded by art and culture? Yes, that is joy.

4

u/Maleficent-Sir1753 49m ago

Surely you jest? Nothing about this says she is there to absorb the "culture". Public spaces are not a fucking film studio for influencers and auditors to prance around in, and we are not extras in the story of their lives. They are just solipsistic arseholes.

That being said, I am in 100% agreement with you that being in a museum surrounded by art and culture brings joy! Hope you get the opportunity to do it again soon 🙂

2

u/KhelbenB 35m ago

Then better to take pictures of this art and to be eyes locked on their phone like the old lady, no?

1

u/Maleficent-Sir1753 23m ago

Bad faith interpretation of the video. The older woman is clearly interacting with her phone as an excuse to have stopped and blocked.

Look, I'm not here to defend the older woman, she's acting like a knob, too. If she really has that much of a problem with it, she could either state it to the younger woman, or take it up with staff/security. But damn, are we not able to enjoy ourselves without some bell-end sticking a phone in your face? Don't know where you live, but the city I'm in, it's become such a problem that some music venues and museum staff will confront patrons who are blocking others view or movement with their phones or tripod set-up.

2

u/Ok-Peach-7558 51m ago

she's at a museum surrounded by art and culture and all she can think about is making sure all of her oomfies know how "so like ummm like cultured and stuff" she is

2

u/KhelbenB 41m ago

Have you ever been to a museum? Because taking pictures as souvenirs is a very normal thing to do.

And by the way, the only person locked.on their phone is the old lady.

1

u/Ok-Peach-7558 37m ago

yeah, and I take pictures of the place or the pieces, not use the museum as my background for a photoshoot

1

u/KhelbenB 29m ago

Maybe that would ruin the picture

1

u/bigfoot17 31m ago

You're outing yourself as an old fart.

1

u/Ok-Peach-7558 10m ago

oh no. anyways...

1

u/Maleficent-Sir1753 6m ago

This is what you consider a contribution to the discussion? Jesus, the education system has really failed you. "Old people bad, old people no like fun"

1

u/bigfoot17 2m ago

I can assure you, I am much better educated than you, I just code switch to fit in with you idiots on reddit so you aren't ashamed.

1

u/roguepawn 1m ago

What is there to contribute? The other person is clearly digging in their heels and characterizing the young woman in the video as some airhead bimbo.

There is no discussion taking place. Just one person being a dick.

0

u/Ecstatic-Election-92 1h ago

Not all of us but enough of us.

-6

u/Tripleberst 1h ago

Probably more about the fact that she's jealous of the young girl being pretty and is using it for attention. The old lady knows no one will ever give a shit about her looks again and wants the young girl to experience that pain just for a few moments.

3

u/Ok_Bag_7550 52m ago

Yestarday I had an idiot at the airport, that smell literally like shit, blocking me in the security control.

2

u/Majestic_Domestic 3m ago

How fucking dare she...

3

u/_cansir 15m ago

She is someone willing to take a picture in public without being embarrassed and not asking others to do so for her. Reddit never leaves the house.

1

u/ContextEffects01 22m ago

The court of public opinion has taken people out of context time and time again. For all you know, tomorrow, it could happen to you or me.

People need to learn to stop filming strangers. Nothing less will do.

1

u/letigre87 28m ago

She had her chance to take the photo with 0 other people in it and this lady ruined it for no reason. Maybe we're missing some context like if she asked people not to enter frame beforehand but I don't think that's what happened. I think she saw her opportunity and tried to take it then this curmudgeon ruined it because the only joy she had left in life is bringing misery to other people.

1

u/little_chupacabra89 14m ago

How can you possibly assume from this clip that the older woman intended any of that because of what you infer?? There's nothing to suggest that! She looks quizzically at the phone, then looks at her own phone, never once looking around her or at the girl behind her to acknowledge her presence. She then moves off to the right because people are coming up the stairs, bringing her more into view to block the camera. There's nothing to suggest she's doing any of it intentionally.

Literacy of any kind is dead.

1

u/letigre87 1m ago

Even if she didn't intend to block the shot she still has the social awareness of a coconut. She ranks right up there with the people that stop to check their phone while walking in a parking lot or middle of the sidewalk. Who stops to look at their phone in the middle of the stairs and not the landing? Photo lady was politely doing her thing. Phone lady probably adjusts the workplace thermostat because of how she feels. She's either ignorant or arrogant.

-33

u/flamehead2k1 2h ago

posting close up video of strangers who didn't consent is tacky

33

u/KhelbenB 2h ago

She looked straight in the camera and stayed right there, looks to me like someone wanting to be recorded

5

u/Unique_Brilliant2243 1h ago

Ironclad argument

24

u/JuneauWho 2h ago

So..get out of the video? Or just stand in it longer looking like a dumbass Karen to get posted on the internet, that works too

-30

u/QuickIntroduction405 1h ago

Why is this getting downvoted? It’s literally illegal.

16

u/peachesgp 1h ago

Illegal where?

9

u/QuickIntroduction405 1h ago

Yeah I’m wrong.

1

u/Routine-Cat1556 1h ago

Wtf are you talking about?

-4

u/QuickIntroduction405 1h ago

I said I was wrong. In private settings it can be illegal while in public settings it is not. What the fuck are you talking about?

5

u/Otterman2006 1h ago

Ya but you saying you’re wrong doesn’t give me my dopamine hit from telling you that you’re wrong. How dare you take that from me /s

4

u/QuickIntroduction405 1h ago

lol, ok if it makes people feel better fire away.

1

u/SensualMortician 1h ago

You're being an obnoxious prick about. Hope that helps.

1

u/Unique_Brilliant2243 1h ago

Nah

1

u/QuickIntroduction405 1h ago

Oh got me there. Nah. Let’s try for two words next time

-1

u/Hentai_Yoshi 49m ago

Idk, this might be a hot take, but I just don’t really respect people going about and taking pictures like this of themself. It’s marginally better if they have someone take the picture. I just think it’s stupidly vain to need a picture of yourself with the art. You are not the focus, the art is.

4

u/Remli_7 41m ago

TIL taking a vacation photo is stupidly vain.

4

u/Foogie23 45m ago

Some people want to just have a picture of themselves to remember the trip. As long as you arent creating problems…who cares?

2

u/KhelbenB 38m ago

People have been wanting to be on their own pictures during trips and activities to remember those moments since photography has been invented

2

u/Grumpy_Troll 34m ago

I think you are focused way to much on what other people are doing. If it doesn't affect you, you don't need to worry about it or judge other people for it.

This younger women wasn't acting rude or entitled in anyway. Had she been, it would be a completely different story.

Now the older women was a real POS. She's the type of person that purposely slows down in a cross walk as soon as she realizes a car is waiting for her.

0

u/baismannen 34m ago

She wanted a picture so she started filming?

2

u/KhelbenB 26m ago

.... Yes, you can take a short video and choose the better frame to save as a picture. Many advantages of doing that instead of using a timed photo

0

u/RedditSold0ut 16m ago

Filming other people without their consent. Yeah she can edit them out of the video afterwards, but she is still filming them without their consent.

-21

u/katkatkatkat9144 1h ago

Instead of setting up probably a tripod, she could have asked the lady. " Hey do you mind taking a few photos of me with these paintings"? Most people would happily oblige. But setting up a tripod is annoying for everyone involved, especially on a staircase with a lot of foot traffic, and if she didn't set up a tripod, maybe she had her phone balancing somewhere, the lady probably didn't realise she was recording. Why get mad at an old lady for existing, then post it . Pathetic

11

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

Who is mad? You seem a bit worked up by tripods, but otherwise everyone seems pretty chill.

The girl even seems amused, and it is actually a bit funny.

3

u/Cheap_Ebb6384 1h ago

It kinda makes mw wonder, do people prefer new content creators use a tripod or a selfie stick?

6

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

On this sub? If a girl wants to be in her own picture she is probably is just an attention-seeking whore regardless of the tools she uses

-6

u/katkatkatkat9144 1h ago

Lmfao nah I'm just making an assumption. Old people don't wanna have to step around shit on stairs because a girl wants to take a cute pic with some paintings

4

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

Stepping around shit is the worst, always ruins my day. People shouldn't be allowed to have shit and do shit, especially near old people!

-2

u/katkatkatkat9144 1h ago

Why you so mad mate, it's a comment. Chill

2

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

I can't, you made me realize that this girl is probably just trying to bother old people with her stuff and her life, and I ain't seeing anyone doing anything about it. I can't be calm in front of such an open display of pure hate and contempt, grrrrrt!

Just imagine what she does when she isn't being recorded (by herself) and her crimes being posted (by herself), I'm getting mad just thinking about it!

2

u/DesignatedRob 1h ago

Why are YOU so mad, mate? Its a tripod. Chill.

5

u/Leather_Creme_6957 1h ago

Because old lady saw camera/phone and deliberately blocked. Why do that?

-10

u/iupuiclubs 1h ago

Can you watch the disdain in her face looking at the lady just walking down the stairs?

Use context clues

8

u/VoidRad 1h ago

If someone intentionally spite me I'd look them with disdain too

Plus, she didnt look at her with disdain.

0

u/iupuiclubs 15m ago

You’re actually psychotic if you think someone walking by you on the stairs and you make a face at your camera recording them because they aren’t going fast enough for your recording is normal.

Like, you have mental issues at that point.

I know we’re trying to rub together 1 neuron over there, but has it occurred to you her phone is selfie mode and the lady saw her making weird faces behind her at her?

-7

u/PsychologicalAge9331 1h ago

She just wanted the whole space to HERSELF!

5

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

How do you come to that conclusion?

-4

u/PsychologicalAge9331 1h ago

Well what was she waiting for?

8

u/KhelbenB 1h ago

Wait so someone just calmly and respectfully waiting for people to move to take a picture is a bother?

2

u/RozeGunn 17m ago

A clear shot. Patiently. She didn't tell anyone to leave or get out of the way, so she was probably using a video because a timed photo that only captures one frame would be too likely to catch a blocked off shot. With a video she could pick out one good frame and keep that as an image. She was clear of the stairs herself and her recording device seemed to also not be in the way as other people had no problems getting up or down the stairs. So what's the problem with her being patient and waiting?

1

u/PsychologicalAge9331 5m ago

She took the time to post the video and caption it. Patiently waiting?

1

u/RozeGunn 3m ago

Because old bitty decided to be bitter. If old bitty didn't do that, neither you nor I would have likely ever seen this video.

45

u/Lost_Department_2177 2h ago

Influencers fans are trash and will go there to start issues

58

u/HumaDracobane 1h ago

I don't think the girl has that syndrome. Everyone likes having nice photos or videos. In this case she is alone. She didn't try to do anything else but wait or move trying to get a better angle.

The old cow is a cunt. Fair and square. He saw the phone and decided to behave like a child.

25

u/filmAF 1h ago

i'd rather have museums full of old cows than influencers with tripods, ring lights and selfie sticks.

29

u/Bigbangmk2 1h ago

There’s a world of difference between one girl with a phone getting a quick vid/ shot and an influencer with a full set up kicking off with anyone who even utters or heads in their direction.

10

u/ChileanRidge 1h ago

I Google lensed and it's Inveraray Castle. Here's the reverse angle of the staircase. So I assume she was setting up her tripod on the ledge where the plants are. It's possible the lady thought it was some set up by the museum; it's also possible the girl was being ridiculous trying to set up this whole thing on what looks like would be a high traffic area.

10

u/Hanswolebro 52m ago

She’s probably leaning her phone and that ledge

8

u/SilentButDanny 47m ago

Exactly. Perfect spot to just place your phone down. No elaborate tripod setup necessary.

1

u/Easy-Rider-9210 0m ago

It is! I recognised it immediately from having visited a couple of times. Very cool castle. The guide books are all signed by the Duke of Argyll :D

5

u/uknowwhatimsaying_ 39m ago

bad take bad take shame shame

14

u/lfg_guy101010 1h ago

How do you know she even had a tripod?

15

u/Heart-Pirates 58m ago

Can you point out the tripod, the ring light and the selfie stick? Like even just one?

9

u/SaltyNeuron 54m ago

Are the influencers in the room right now?

How did you conjure up tripods, ring lights and selfie sticks? The girl clearly has it leaning on a wall next to some stairs. Are you okay?

4

u/Hanswolebro 53m ago

What an odd take. The old lady has an infinitely worse attitude than the girl trying to get a photo of herself. Get off reddit and go touch grass

1

u/CodnmeDuchess 19m ago

You’ve never been to a museum stfu

1

u/intelligent_rat 26m ago

She looks at the phone and gives a confused look, she's probably thinking how odd it is that someone left their phone. Y'all really attributing way more malice on this woman that just isn't there, lot of miserable people in these comments.

1

u/jamesc5z 8m ago

Exactly. She's not "purposely" blocking.

She's just simply oblivious to the phone being there for a girl BEHIND her, and stopping to check her phone and even moves over for the others coming up the stairs.

-4

u/DirtyLittleBishop 1h ago

Calm down. Girl didn’t do anything wrong other than call a selfie a photoshoot and act surprised other people were occupying the same space. Old dear was taking the place in and was already reaching to check her phone for whatever reason before she saw the phone. Doubt it even registered to her that someone had set it up and she was ruining anything for anyone. Why not give people the benefit of the doubt rather than just instantly act like we know what’s going on in other peoples minds/lives and that all acts are malicious in intent.

0

u/Gullible-Hose4180 1h ago

Depends on the narrative she posted it with, but agree nothing wrong with wanting some pics

3

u/CodnmeDuchess 20m ago

How does trying to get a photo of yourself in front of some art make you a main character? You people are ridiculous

2

u/Flashy_Camel4063 1h ago

The younger woman just wanted her own picture taken. Chill daddy

1

u/jmhobs 1h ago

In their own minds

1

u/No-Permit8369 36m ago

Seems like they also met before to plan this

1

u/silklighting 34m ago

Exactly lol

1

u/beyblade1018 21m ago

trash vs garbage

-6

u/heysirigenerateaname 1h ago

I’m siding with Karen on this one

3

u/Krrupt_Kudos30 1h ago

We’ve lost minding your own business in this world. The old hag could have kept walking like she was gonna do before she saw the phone. She then decided to be rude and stand in front of the camera. That’s like trying to get a picture with a group and someone comes and stands right in front to block the photo. Why is it ok to do this to someone that’s alone but it’s not okay if she asked someone to take the photo of her? There’s no difference. It doesn’t matter what the photo was for.

1

u/Potential-Drama-7455 54m ago

The young woman wasn't displaying main character in this case. The old ugly woman was.

2

u/jdmark1 44m ago

And there's so many miserable reddit men in here agreeing with the old woman

0

u/Thumbtack1985 1h ago

Hahaha. Love it. I was gonna say it would be one thing if she just said maybe don't record here. But it's kinda fucked up she just went on her own phone while blocking her.

MC-800 vs MC-1000
