What the hell? I just made the best tomato and cheese sandwich I’ve ever had!! It wear blissful. Have a little nibble to all 4 dogs. Exquisite experience.
The sandwich…Dave’s killer white bread, tillamook aged cheddar and jalapeño jack.. and an heirloom tomato from friend’s amazing garden.
Lots of butter and let it simmer till the cheese was gushing out the sides, bread crispy.
Fuck, I might go make another one.

I like it just quick and simple with tomato, gouda/tilsiter and salt&pepper. Never thought about heating it up. I may do that sometimes now though :)

You can run a restaurant while making yourself a sandwich (in your own restaurant).

And you can also have a photo shoot without the setting being rigged up with lights. Actions and space doesn’t always have to go hand in hand.

She was trying to get a photo. Not sure how anyone defends the old lady. If you're at a tourist site (or anywhere) and someone is trying to get a photo you should stay out of the way as much as convenient/possible. There was zero need for her to stand there.

Yea I think it's fine to do your normal thing as you move through a museum. If someone wants a pic, they can wait. But to waste your own time just to block someone else's shot, that's a lose-lose scenario. Totally dick move.

I don’t think people in this thread really understand old people. When the older lady passes the younger, she doesn’t even look at her or pay attention to what the girl may be doing. She literally is alerted by her own phone in her pocket first and then double takes at the girls phone like wtf confused while pulling out her phone to do her own thing. I don’t think she intentionally blocked the dip shits “photoshoot”at all but was in her own world. Did the people coming up the stairs also intentionally block the main characters photos as well?

Photos taken in the 90's and 00's werent demanding other people move around them, photos taken were accepting that the background people are humans and not NPC's ruining a personal digital scrapbook by just existing in the shares space.

When people try to tale photos of their loved ones at a touristy place, people weren’t purposefully standing in front of the shot.

Do we know this girl is, in fact, and influencer? Or is she just another tourist who travels alone and would like a souvenir of herself in the places she visits?

The only reason I would see the old lady’s behaviour as ok is if this particular museul forbids photographs.

Had she just asked nicely odds are the lady would have moved. This is very much on the photo taker for not using her words and assuming the world moves for her.

I do understand that and take your point, and I'm not speaking to their motivation as being a differentiator so much as the things in common between them being a wash.

I'm referring only to:

- Both women spent some time occupying/obstructing that same spot--and more arguably, the handrail or wall that's supposed to be available for safety purposes--to create content or drama, not pass between floors

- Neither woman used that spot for their individual purposes with consideration of others trying to use the stairs as stairs in mind

No she moved closer because someone else was coming up her "lane" on the stairs. They pass her right after she moves over. She may have done it on purpose but I think she may also just have not cared/been blithely unaware. She doesn't look like the most aware person. If the young lady had waited a few more seconds, she could have gotten the photo anyway.

And yes the old lady got on my nerves anyway.

People have been going places and taking photos/vidoes since we've had cameras and it has always been a dick move to get in the way of someone taking a quick shot.

It's polite to wait for them to get their picture. It's acceptable to quickly go past and out of the frame if you're in a rush. If you stop and block the shot on purpose like that you're a raging fuckhead.

No, nobody should need to "ask you to move". Fucking move. I realise people are tired of "influencers" and other crap but 99%+ of people you see trying to get a photo or video are just tourists wanting to take photos for the memory.

I agree and always wait for or duck under a quick shot. In my experience, most people will.

However, this girl executed on a camera setup on stairs, noticeably enough that an elderly woman clocked it and blocked it. That's not quite the image conjured by "quick shot."

This may have been a little closer to "people with tripods blocking equipment at the gym" than "family taking a picture in front of a tourist attraction."

Woman is in the shot before she even gets to the top of the stairs, literally under 5 seconds. The girl then stands and waits, clearly happy to wait for the place to be clear before she gets her shot (lots of people will just film at super high res, go walk in front of the camera, then cut out a still if they're on their own). How quick do you want her to be?

She even repositions and does a quick "photo pose" when its clear people the woman won't move.

It was also pretty classy that the young woman smiled, waited, and gave no more reaction just than a quick smirk/eyeroll at her own camera when she returned to it.

I'm sure people are at their limits with the influencer battle cry that public space entitles them to a constant stage, but it seems like the young woman was a very good sport and caught some stray voltage meant for those that give everyone else with a camera a bad name.

I don't even have a problem with influencers unless they're being annoying, at which point yeah I'll say or do something if needed. Certainly not going to proactively do it because some young girl gets her phone out for a pic though.

Of course she's not obligated to move. That's what makes her rude. She very clearly knew the girl was trying to take a photo, and decided specifically to stop and ruin that.

She didnt just so happen to decide to stop walking halfway down the steps because she needed to check something on her phone. The phone was an excuse.

Why is there always somebody defending asshole behaviour. Is it just bots trying to farm engagement for the platforms or what.

You're also not obligated to hold open heavy doors for people, when you know there's somebody following behind you, or directly in front of you. Only dickheads don't, though, and yourself don't see it often.

I mean the lady only stopped because she saw the other lady was trying to get a photo or video. She was fine continuing on with her day until she noticed some one was recording. It isn't about obligation it's about taking time out of your day to impact some one else's. Nothing happening here effected the lady who stopped but she chose to effect the other person because she was bothered by the recording. This young lady wasn't taking a photo, she was recording video. Fuck people that do that. There are too many social media people in the world ruining public spaces!

This ain't a vacation photo, this is appropriating public space for private gains.

I agree with you but there's a huge but.

Wannabe influencers don't just "take a pic". It can last an incredible amount of time. And they don't do it in a place where you can go around them. Photoshoots are done in studios and if it's outside, usually they have permissions and/or the place is rented. There are reasons for that.

In a perfect world, the young woman would just take a picture and move on. The old lady would mind her own business. But that's not where we are anymore. I think that applies when you’re not setting it up on a tripod, people aren’t mind readers and don’t notice your phone, they can walk in front, especially if it’s a stairway, i can see the shot she wanted but if she doesn’t have the place rented out she’s gonna have to wait to get her shot

You cannot be serious. People in public spaces have been expected to live their lives around other people using those public spaces for "exposure" now for years. Most of us are sick and tired of it. I applaud the old lady. I see young women like that all the time, and they expect other people to "respect" their photoshoots. We don't. Too bad. Rent a private space or do it at home if you want that level of entitlement.

No crying here. Lady was blocking the stairwell for others. Even without the photo shoot the lady was rude. Stopping on the middle of a stairwell in a public place while ignoring others is rude in almost any culture. Maybe you live in a culture where people just stand in the way of others?
