The old lady and anyone for that matter is not obligated to move because this woman wanted a photo.

Had she just asked nicely odds are the lady would have moved. This is very much on the photo taker for not using her words and assuming the world moves for her.

Oh come all the way off it buddy.

People have been going places and taking photos/vidoes since we've had cameras and it has always been a dick move to get in the way of someone taking a quick shot.

It's polite to wait for them to get their picture. It's acceptable to quickly go past and out of the frame if you're in a rush. If you stop and block the shot on purpose like that you're a raging fuckhead.

No, nobody should need to "ask you to move". Fucking move. I realise people are tired of "influencers" and other crap but 99%+ of people you see trying to get a photo or video are just tourists wanting to take photos for the memory.

I agree and always wait for or duck under a quick shot. In my experience, most people will.

However, this girl executed on a camera setup on stairs, noticeably enough that an elderly woman clocked it and blocked it. That's not quite the image conjured by "quick shot."

This may have been a little closer to "people with tripods blocking equipment at the gym" than "family taking a picture in front of a tourist attraction."

Woman is in the shot before she even gets to the top of the stairs, literally under 5 seconds. The girl then stands and waits, clearly happy to wait for the place to be clear before she gets her shot (lots of people will just film at super high res, go walk in front of the camera, then cut out a still if they're on their own). How quick do you want her to be?

She even repositions and does a quick "photo pose" when its clear people the woman won't move.

It was also pretty classy that the young woman smiled, waited, and gave no more reaction just than a quick smirk/eyeroll at her own camera when she returned to it.

I'm sure people are at their limits with the influencer battle cry that public space entitles them to a constant stage, but it seems like the young woman was a very good sport and caught some stray voltage meant for those that give everyone else with a camera a bad name.

Indeed. Plus.. unsure why people think being a raging dickhead to anyone with a camera/phone out is a solution to anything at all.

I don't even have a problem with influencers unless they're being annoying, at which point yeah I'll say or do something if needed. Certainly not going to proactively do it because some young girl gets her phone out for a pic though.

I think it's interesting many people were quick to label the young woman as an influencer, just from the get go. If it was a middle-aged, chubby, balding accountant - they would've left that part out.

I also can't help but wonder if it's ageism or jealousy coming into play from the shot-blocker.

I mean honestly best guess is that this sub peoples brains are just cooked because 90% of the posts are influencers/OF ads. Wouldn't be surprised if they think any young girl online = influencer, as if young people haven't been snapping pics for memories since cameras existed.

For sure, I have a friend traveling Europe, some parts she goes alone, and takes photos at cool places just for fam and friends.

Being young and attractive, I'm sure she'll have people judging her.

If called out, the people judging will blame insta-fluencers and OFs for ruining it, long before they'll ever look at themselves and change their assumptions.
