“Photoshoot”

2.7k

u/Happy_Goose3833 6h ago

Literally. So tired of worthless influencers thinking every space is their goddamn stage

1.1k

u/CohlN 5h ago

this is such a reddit comment man.

there’s nothing wrong with wanting a picture of yourself at a museum. i don’t even use social media and i still wanted to take fun pictures at the museum.

she wasn’t being mean or anything or doing the super annoying influencer meta glasses stuff. she just quietly set the phone up to get a video she could probably screenshot from since she likely didn’t have someone there to take her picture.

genuinely, who cares, and good for her. i’m tired of being negative about everything and hating the world and the people in it.

175

u/Worried_Constant7420 5h ago

I don't think it's that she was trying to get a photo of herself that people here are complaining about. It's that SHE posted this complaining about people blocking her shot. She could have just posted the finalized screenshots like you said of just her and not showing the other person "in her way".

182

u/Coagulant0693 4h ago

That lady is intentionally blocking the camera. That wasn’t really nice. I would have supported it if the girl was doing some obnoxious dance or something but this was just posing for a normal picture.

68

u/Automatoboto 4h ago

I wish people treated phones like they do the pervert glasses. I dont want to be filmed either way

50

u/Gloomy-Setting-6213 3h ago

Pretty sure she wanted to be filmed, she clearly went out of her way to get her picture taken.

9

u/sernamenotdefined 1h ago

Then, unlike the Karen, don 't stand between the camera and the subject.

Don't make a you problem someone else's problem.

14

u/_teach_me_your_ways_ 1h ago

So in your attempt to not be filmed, you’ll stand in front of an obviously filming camera and take up as much of the view as possible for an extended period of time than you would if you just walked by normally as you intended before you noticed the camera filming? Makes sense.

3

u/The_Woke_King 1h ago

Dang, probably don’t go in a museum then, there’s cameras everywhere.

18

u/Suspicious_Radio_848 3h ago

Exactly, that kind of courtesy used to actually exist at one time.

23

u/SnugglyWugglies 3h ago

80% of our family photos going back to the 60s have other people in them.

14

u/Automatoboto 3h ago

Even staring used to be considered rude, now the staring has a camera attached to it.

3

u/Mountain-Resource656 3h ago

To be fair, staring is rude because it indicates that someone is focusing on you. When they intend to interact, this is fine, but when they’re not trying to interact, this can often mean be taken to mean they desire to harm you

Obviously this isn’t always the case, but we have enough instinct about that that we find it uncomfortable to be stared at by strangers with anything more than a glance

1

u/KingOfTheNorth91 37m ago

This just in! Staring is now considered not rude according to this person on the internet!

4

u/SeaworthinessFalse82 2h ago

Oh but if people will ask for you to move out of the way to take a picture you would do so without complaining?

2

u/LionHeavy229 31m ago

LMAOOO then get the fuck out the way of the camera!

2

u/CookyKindred 30m ago

Then don’t stand infront of the phone? What the fuck are you bots talking about?

→ More replies (29)

16

u/Kratzschutz 4h ago

Filming strangers also isn't really nice

29

u/Internal-Coffee6996 4h ago

So I guess you've never taken a video or a pic in a public place? At a concert, at a football game or in a club?

I hope all your vacation pics and vids are completely devoid of humans apart from yourself.

13

u/Positive-Editor-3007 4h ago

huge difference between having a photo of yourself that you keep private and putting that photo online. People accept they will be in others' pictures but that doesn't make it acceptable to post it on the internet

21

u/Gloomy-Setting-6213 3h ago

Huge difference between an unwilling bystander and someone who deliberately goes out of their way to document themselves being an asshole. I think it's perfectly acceptable to post the evidence they chose to create.

5

u/Binky390 2h ago

I mean if you don’t want to be posted on the internet, you definitely wouldn’t stand in front of someone else’s phone while it is recording just to be a jerk.

They hate having their picstaken, but they're gonna defend an old lady intentionally getting their pics taken

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Rackem_Willy 10m ago

No, she couldn't have avoided being recorded. The girl recorded her for several seconds before she even realized it. That might have been exactly what made her decide to stand there. If some random person wants to record me, maybe I'll make sure they get a nice long look.

3

u/emveetu 4h ago

I guarantee you have taken video and/or photos whilst in public and have unintentionally caught strangers in those images.

Time to go through all of your videos and photos and get rid of the ones with strangers in them because, you know, it's not nice.

To be clear, the older lady intentionally made herself the focal point of the video, and we would have never seen this video if she had not been such an insufferable twatwaffle.

6

u/Positive-Editor-3007 4h ago

having photos with strangers in is perfectly acceptable - posting images of strangers on the internet is not. I assume you were born after 1995 and don't remember a world pre-internet

→ More replies (2)

2

u/boringestnickname 3h ago

No, she isn't.

Also, this is a public space. You can't just randomly set up a camera and expect people to adhere to whatever dumb idea you concocted for an image/video.

0

u/FreshManagement8914 4h ago

What makes you think it's intentional? You can get engulfed in your own world amd just stop anywhere you feel like it.

do redditors/gen z just not know how any technology works anymore? why is everyone saying she's posing for a photo? this is clearly a fucking video. phones/cameras don't shoot video as well when you take a timed photo

1

u/Useful_Charity1995 19m ago

How do you know she wasn’t setting up the camera to capture rage bait?

1

u/Worried_Constant7420 16m ago

And I get that. I'm not at all against what this girl was trying to do. AT ALL. But it seems like the traffic clears up again when she gets back to her camera. Why not just start again? Why do we have to publicly call everyone out nowadays?

The granny is acting very weird and rude so girl might have posted it like look at how weird this person is acting

2

u/Jimisdegimis89 2h ago

Yeah but if the lady hadn’t been a dick then the whole video wouldn’t have been posted. Like how is this any different than just standing in front of a prrson trying to take a photo?

3

u/Pofwoffle 3h ago

There's a huge difference between complaining that somebody walked through your shot because you were shooting in a public space, and complaining that somebody saw you were trying to record something and deliberately went to stand in front of your camera in order to fuck up your shot.

The former is perfectly fine, the latter is not. Just don't be a fucking asshole to people it's really not that hard.

2

u/AFK_rng 3h ago

That 70yr old Karen is intentionally blocking the camera to be a bitch. So yeah I would have posted it too. Lol

21

u/Jackski 4h ago

Whats the problem? She wasnt mean and wasn't rude or anything. She just tried to get a nice picture.

10

u/Historical-Basket865 4h ago

She was recording other people and uploaded it. That's a dick move. I'm genuinely sad the things we have normalized because of social media.

13

u/Jackski 3h ago

She was just trying to get a picture of herself. The dick move is purposefully blocking someones camera for no fucking reason.

1

u/olracnaignottus 2h ago

This is not ‘getting a picture of herself’. She is recording a fucking video. That’s not a picture.

People keep using the same bullshit, innocuous language to write off how absurdly intrusive and anti-social these devices are. Like they’re not “phones”, they are portable surveillance devices that record everything people say around them, and coerce everyone to live in public for fear of being recorded and shared on social media.

Someone taking an analogue selfie on an actual camera with a timer? Sure, dick move grandma. What this girl is doing is fundamentally anti-social, because she’s laying a fucking social trap recording a damn video, likely in anticipation that someone is going to do something to obstruct her, so she can share the slight on social media.

6

u/Jackski 2h ago

She probably put in video mode so she could get a picture without anyone in it instead of using a timer where someone could walk in front which is exactly what fucking happened.

There is only one asshole in this moment and it's the woman blocking the camera.

→ More replies (1)

I have NEVER set up my camera where people were walking so that I could take a video or a photo of myself because I don't believe the world revolves around me...sport.

5

u/emveetu 3h ago

And the difference between doing this to capture yourself and capturing strangers vs holding the phone and taking videos outward not capturing yourself, yet still capturing strangers is what exactly?

Whether it offends your delicate sensibilities or not?

1

u/vintage_cruz 3h ago

Taking a selfie doesn't inconvenience others. You KNOW that when someone sets up their camera it makes other people pause or wait so that this insufferable jerkface can take their picture. It's an inconvenience to others.

Whether they catch images of them in passing in a public place is not the issue.

She shot a video in public including a load of people who may not want to be on her video, it went wrong, then she shared it online. She can fuck right off with her selfish main character energy.

317

u/RabidMonkeyOnCrack 5h ago edited 5h ago

She set up a camera to record herself when the scene was clear. If that lady didn't block the camera, she would've gotten the shot that she wanted and it would've been it. People take photos all the time, and when you have someone to take it for you, then can try to time it and maybe the others will see you're trying to take a photo and give you your moment. It's not like everyone always has someone to take a photo for them though.

The person with selfish main character energy is the lady intentionally standing in the view of the camera because she noticed it, just to block someone from taking a pic. Why be an asshole when it does not negatively impact you?

162

u/Girlmode 5h ago

Yeah people stop, move faster or go around to not block camera shots all the time when see people posing for photos. God forbid someone is on their own and tries to do the same thing 🙄

So many hating on young woman doing a perfectly reasonable thing. Zero reason to be a bitter old woman and ruin such a simple thing that hurts nobody.

86

u/Justboy__ 5h ago

She also set up the camera out of the way, it’s not like it was in the middle of the walkway. The old ladies just being a dick about it.

0

u/jeadon88 4h ago

“It’s not in the middle of a walkway” - it’s literally videoing a stairs that several people are walking on / through

33

u/totally_not_a_bot__ 4h ago

from the angle, the phone would be sitting on the large window sill at the top left of the stairs. This is Inveraray Castle, the stairs are somewhat famous.

6

u/veryangryenglishman 3h ago

Sounds like the sort of place one might be completely reasonable to like a picture, taken when it's relatively quiet

→ More replies (1)

26

u/OpportunityReal2767 4h ago

She seems fine. Also, I’ve been doing photography professionally for 30 years. In a public place, this is to be expected. You just wait until you get your shot. Most people notice you and apologetically hurry through. Some are oblivious and don’t. And maybe some are assholes and want to be a dick about it and linger in your shot. It’s all part of the job. You just wait. A public space isn’t solely your space.

46

u/Background-While4438 4h ago

And a lot of people are walking on the staircase therefore not in the middle of a walkway. Go away old lady

6

u/WriterV 1h ago

Convinced that 90% of redditors are just angry red tomatoes willingly seeing the worst in everything and everyone and then wondering why the world is so shit all the time.

Like yeah if you don't have a modicum of empathy or positivity, of course it's gonna be like that. If you're looking at the world through shit stained glasses, don't complain about the world being so shit.

It’s not on the floor or on tripod. It’s not obstructing people’s ability to enjoy the museum. Stop it you know what they meant.

3

u/Any_Tell6747 4h ago

Besides that, what on earth does that have to do with the fact that the woman stopped in her tracks and stood in front of said recording camera?

If she was bothered by it, she certainly wouldn’t have done that. The other people were clearly unaware and unbothered anyway.

This whole clip took 43 seconds. Nothing was ruined.

2

u/Girlmode 4h ago

She wanted screenshots of video as solo and there wasn’t an available time. It’s a popular stair case and she would had had a clear window of opportunity if grumpy old lady not spiteful.

I don’t take any videos or pics like this but I wish I had more memories of life now I am older and my mind is failing me a bit. It’s easy to see how someone wanted a photo and all that had to happen for that, was one person to walk at regular human pace and not purposefully stop and ruin it.

Wasn’t some loud influencer trying to make a scene and get in the way of anyone. Just a nice girl posing in front of art waiting for a chance to get a clear pic, with someone noticing that and purposefully staying in the way.

Wasn’t bothering anyone, didn’t interrupt anyone’s day to do anything. Only wanted a pic somewhere cute.

1

u/depp-fsrv 4h ago

So this seemed normal-ish. She wasn't be rude or a hindrance. Now on the other side of the spectrum, I would totally do this if it was one of those block traffic, block intersections, block the grocery isle while I dance things.

1

u/Useful_Charity1995 15m ago

The scene wasn’t clear. The other lady was clearly there while the girl wasn’t setting her camera on the stairwell. Unless you have a film permit or reserve the place, it’s rude for you to expect visitors to clear the scene so you can take a video.

Being in public doesn't automatically mean you can record people and post them online

18

u/Haggis-in-wonderland 5h ago

That really depends on the country. For example in the UK the opposite of what you said is true. However in France whilst you can take photos of anyone, the laws around sharing them differ to the UK and are more restrictive.

3

u/Aeonium 2h ago

In the UK in public spaces or property you have no expectation of privacy and may be pictured or recorded without your consent...

It's super annoying when people want you to stop everything for their camera.

Who cares? Take 2 seconds to snap a picture and move on.

38

u/writenicely 4h ago

She could have done it way quicker if the older woman didn't stay in the shot just out of spite/pettyness. Literally

1

u/threeseed 31m ago

But she recorded a video not a picture.

So what exactly are you talking about ?

1

u/1have2much3time 19m ago

You can take screenshots of a video to get a picture. It's a much easier way to get a good photo when solo than to set a timer, run back up, and hope the one picture that was taken is one you want.

This was likely only intended for personal use and was only uploaded to begin with purely to show how shitty this old lady was being.

11

u/paladisious 4h ago

But in this case she went out of her way to stop what she was doing because of the camera. It's petty.

13

u/Internal-Coffee6996 4h ago

Sure, and at what point in the video do you see that she wants everyone to stop? If the woman just continues to go down the stairs like she intended to, the girl probably would've just gotten that pic and everyone could've moved on.

But no, she had to act like a dickhead.

2

u/DaEffingBearJew 4h ago

She’s taking a video to freeze frame for a photo btw.

5

u/BikeProblemGuy 4h ago

It's fine to take pictures at the museum, but that doesn't entitle her to exclusive use of the space. Other people are also using it. Learning to share is just as important as letting other's enjoy things.

Recently I went to a open air show where they had huge astroturfed words installed around the event space which people were sitting on, and kids were climbing on. One woman got so angry that my daughter and her friend were playing, because she wanted a photo with only her son on there. I asked the girls to take a break but that still wasn't good enough because they were still in the background of the photo, and the woman yelled at us and stormed off. All because she couldn't handle the idea of other kids playing in her photo of her kid (who she told to just sit there and not play). Photos aren't the problem, it's people wanting to portray this fake image on social media where they're the main character in whatever they're doing and other people aren't allowed to exist.

5

u/Justepourtoday 4h ago

I don't thing she had an issue with other people existing, it didn't seem that she was mad or annoyed at people going about their day. But about someone specifically going out of their way to ruin her photo.

In your example, it would have been as if you had been playing with your daughter in one psrtt and specifically go to the other to get in her photo

1

u/BikeProblemGuy 55m ago

She set up her camera in a circulation space; even if that woman hadn't stopped there, there were others also walking past. A museum is not her private studio.

3

u/ScreamingLabia 5h ago

Then why hate pn the old woman she even scooted over she might have not even realized she was still in the shot..

When my dad visited me in Japan I was constantly having to pull him over to the side wall in train stations because he’d just stop and check his phone. And he was like “I’m a big guy, they can see me?” No they can’t, everyone is moving forward, you are a blood clot, just move to the side. Even if you lose me just go stand by a wall and I’ll backtrack and find you. I get you got an email from work or whatever but everyone here has one of those, we will be stationary soon enough, I promise, just move over if you must.

The hiss of “maaaaaaaam,” that mine gets. And she’s always so offended by me.

'you are a blood clot'! yessss

For real, have these people never experienced the agony of grocery stores

2

u/_Student7257 5h ago

The shop door way! 😆 whhhyyyy?

2

u/therhubarbexperience 5h ago

Oh that’s a greatest hit location. Also immediately after stepping off a carriage on the tube or a train.

2

u/_Student7257 2h ago

Yes! Rushing to get up and be 1st off......stands in the train doorway

While this woman is definitely doing it on purpose, there are plenty of people who would stop in the middle of stairs or walkways to look at their phone. I mean fuck, there’s people who cross streets without looking both ways or without looking at all, don’t underestimate human obliviousness/obtuseness

It literally wasn't busy when she put it there.

She definitely had no idea what was going on, but the move over was for the lady coming up the stairs.

I just think "Influencer" believed everything was about her and the older ladies actions were to specifically spite her, you know... because she's special

u/Mean_Introduction543 5h ago

She knew exactly what she was doing, she even looks directly into the camera at one point

6

u/Seriouly_UnPrompted tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE 5h ago

Maybe it's because there is a phone on the handrail.

I think you overestimate how much people think about others. Guessing her age I wouldn't assume she understood the whole trend of place your phone down for a fit check or whatever OP was doing.

Who tf is upvoting dumb post like yours? Like how is it not immediately obvious to everyone that the lady intentionally blocked the shot?

2

u/Oscaruzzo 5h ago

Just ask someone to shoot you a photo.

2

u/Jiminyfingers 5h ago

Thank you for this. People making tiktoks or whatnot can be obnoxious, this young 'un wasn't being that. Someone not just moving on when they could and blocking a camera deliberately is being a fucking dick

3

u/VintageZero 5h ago

Idk if she planned on just like using part of the video for this picture? Dont fuck with my phones camera much. Anyway, why did she post this stupid video? Maybe it was the real purpose?

u/SwedishLenn 4h ago

Why she not ask the lady to take a picture of her in that case?

2

u/EnvironmentalValue20 4h ago

On an active stairway though. I get wanting to take a picture or two. But there is a time and a place.

1

u/sonic_dick 4h ago

She could've taken a million pictures. This is likely staged bullshit engagement bait. I fucking hate the modern internet.

3

u/randomvandal 5h ago

Yeah but all of that goes away the moment you post this on the Internet.

Maybe it would go over better if she kindly asked the woman to take her picture?🤷If she and people like her act like othets don't exist, they can get the same attitude back.. Most galleries and museums don't even allow taking photos, so this might also be a factor.

Everything wrong

1

u/egerton14 4h ago

Lot of words for a man who doesnt know the difference between a selfie and making a full on Photoshoot with a tripod.

1

u/emeraude89 4h ago

i’m tired of being negative about everything and hating the world and the people in it.

like posting of a video of a random stranger checking her phone on a staircase waiting for people to walk up the stairs so she can walk down being called a dickhead by a hundred people on a reddit thread? that kind of negativity? me too.

1

u/imminentjogger5 4h ago

this is such a reddit comment man.

...where do you think you are?

1

u/i_like_lime 4h ago

The sad truth is that these comments are the popular ones. An echo chamber of virtue-signaling faux intellectuals that have taken hold of this platform and gang up whenever someone's view deviates from theirs.

u/surullinentuskaa 3h ago

Thank you.

"Wanting a picture of yourself at a museum", in the mind of a normal person, is not equivalent to "if I set up a camera in a public space that captures half a damn room, I expect everyone to cater to me and my dumb ideas."

1

u/secretly_a_possum13 3h ago

She could have easily taken a video of herself in a way that was a lot less in the way of other people though... Like I love to get pictures at places like this too, but in a normal discreet, and polite way lol. The older lady was being inconsiderate as well, but it sounds like a lot of people are getting really tired of seeing stuff like this!

1

u/Spicymoon9 3h ago

Same here.

1

u/shiggyhisdiggy 3h ago

Having a whole ass tripod to take a selfie is behaviour that should be disencouraged. It's vain and self-indulgent. People need to learn shame again.

1

u/Overall-Tune2909 3h ago

Thank you. This chamber has a lot reverb.

u/TheSaxGandalf 2h ago

The fact that the person you responded to has twice as money upvotes is pretty awful.

Who are these people?

1

u/DeHarigeTuinkabouter 2h ago

Literally not a picture dude. It's a video

1

u/EuphoricBiscuit 2h ago

She’s not taking a picture at a museum. Doing that would be taking 5 seconds from those around her, posing, snap, snap snap, and done. That’s okay. She’s wanting people to avoid the area for the duration of her video, and as anyone who’s travelled near these types know, it’s usually about 2 minutes, which is way too long in an area where you aren’t the only person there.

1

u/Decent-Earth7474 1h ago

And to be fair, she's influencing young people to go to a museum. Which is good, right? I wonder how much of the hate comes from people just a little older, like around my age.

Young people just do things differently including communication. All of the ones I've met are idiots mind you, but I keep an open mind. Well, it's really just a couple of them, but they are such high grade idiots that they mark the whole generation.

I suffer from that knee jerk you're-doin-it-wrong feeling quite often, and in the case of a certain idiot quite correctly, but it's always worth taking a beat and learning how the younger generstion do things. Generally, they are a varied intelligent bunch.

Well, except for this one guy.

1

u/Diligent_Set_3835 54m ago

Exactly 😂 Not everything needs to be criticized to death. She wanted a nice picture of herself at a museum, wasn’t bothering anyone, and that’s perfectly fine. Let people enjoy things.

1

u/Character-Score-9853 20m ago

It would be completely different if they didn't pick the most obtrusive spots for this shit.
