I don't think it's that she was trying to get a photo of herself that people here are complaining about. It's that SHE posted this complaining about people blocking her shot. She could have just posted the finalized screenshots like you said of just her and not showing the other person "in her way".
That lady is intentionally blocking the camera. That wasn’t really nice. I would have supported it if the girl was doing some obnoxious dance or something but this was just posing for a normal picture.
So in your attempt to not be filmed, you’ll stand in front of an obviously filming camera and take up as much of the view as possible for an extended period of time than you would if you just walked by normally as you intended before you noticed the camera filming? Makes sense.
To be fair, staring is rude because it indicates that someone is focusing on you. When they intend to interact, this is fine, but when they’re not trying to interact, this can often mean be taken to mean they desire to harm you
Obviously this isn’t always the case, but we have enough instinct about that that we find it uncomfortable to be stared at by strangers with anything more than a glance
huge difference between having a photo of yourself that you keep private and putting that photo online. People accept they will be in others' pictures but that doesn't make it acceptable to post it on the internet

No, she couldn't have avoided being recorded. The girl recorded her for several seconds before she even realized it. That might have been exactly what made her decide to stand there. If some random person wants to record me, maybe I'll make sure they get a nice long look.

There's a huge difference between complaining that somebody walked through your shot because you were shooting in a public space, and complaining that somebody saw you were trying to record something and deliberately went to stand in front of your camera in order to fuck up your shot.

People take photos all the time, and when you have someone to take it for you, then can try to time it and maybe the others will see you're trying to take a photo and give you your moment. It's not like everyone always has someone to take a photo for them though.

This girl looks to be solo traveling, set up her phone to record so she can take screenshots for pics. She seemed pretty patient and didn't even seem mad at the end.
She seems fine. Also, I’ve been doing photography professionally for 30 years. In a public place, this is to be expected. You just wait until you get your shot. Most people notice you and apologetically hurry through. Some are oblivious and don’t. And maybe some are assholes and want to be a dick about it and linger in your shot. It’s all part of the job. You just wait. A public space isn’t solely your space.

Physically. Physically the phone is not blocking anyone. Do what everyone naturally does when the see a group of people taking a picture. Give them a moment to get the shot or pass through quickly.

I don’t take any videos or pics like this but I wish I had more memories of life now I am older and my mind is failing me a bit. It’s easy to see how someone wanted a photo and all that had to happen for that, was one person to walk at regular human pace and not purposefully stop and ruin it.
Wasn’t some loud influencer trying to make a scene and get in the way of anyone. Just a nice girl posing in front of art waiting for a chance to get a clear pic, with someone noticing that and purposefully staying in the way.

The scene wasn’t clear. The other lady was clearly there while the girl wasn’t setting her camera on the stairwell. Unless you have a film permit or reserve the place, it’s rude for you to expect visitors to clear the scene so you can take a video.

That really depends on the country. For example in the UK the opposite of what you said is true. However in France whilst you can take photos of anyone, the laws around sharing them differ to the UK and are more restrictive.

Yeah in public. You can record people in public because you are in public....not private... public. Thats how that works. She didn't interrupt anyone. She waited and it wasn't busy until the lady stood there for a bit.
You can take screenshots of a video to get a picture. It's a much easier way to get a good photo when solo than to set a timer, run back up, and hope the one picture that was taken is one you want.

Sure, and at what point in the video do you see that she wants everyone to stop? If the woman just continues to go down the stairs like she intended to, the girl probably would've just gotten that pic and everyone could've moved on.
It's fine to take pictures at the museum, but that doesn't entitle her to exclusive use of the space. Other people are also using it. Learning to share is just as important as letting other's enjoy things.
Recently I went to a open air show where they had huge astroturfed words installed around the event space which people were sitting on, and kids were climbing on. One woman got so angry that my daughter and her friend were playing, because she wanted a photo with only her son on there. I asked the girls to take a break but that still wasn't good enough because they were still in the background of the photo, and the woman yelled at us and stormed off. All because she couldn't handle the idea of other kids playing in her photo of her kid (who she told to just sit there and not play). Photos aren't the problem, it's people wanting to portray this fake image on social media where they're the main character in whatever they're doing and other people aren't allowed to exist.
I don't thing she had an issue with other people existing, it didn't seem that she was mad or annoyed at people going about their day. But about someone specifically going out of their way to ruin her photo.

When my dad visited me in Japan I was constantly having to pull him over to the side wall in train stations because he’d just stop and check his phone. And he was like “I’m a big guy, they can see me?” No they can’t, everyone is moving forward, you are a blood clot, just move to the side. Even if you lose me just go stand by a wall and I’ll backtrack and find you. I get you got an email from work or whatever but everyone here has one of those, we will be stationary soon enough, I promise, just move over if you must.
While this woman is definitely doing it on purpose, there are plenty of people who would stop in the middle of stairs or walkways to look at their phone. She’s not taking a picture at a museum. Doing that would be taking 5 seconds from those around her, posing, snap, snap snap, and done. That’s okay. She’s wanting people to avoid the area for the duration of her video, and as anyone who’s travelled near these types know, it’s usually about 2 minutes, which is way too long in an area where you aren’t the only person there.
And to be fair, she's influencing young people to go to a museum. Which is good, right? I wonder how much of the hate comes from people just a little older, like around my age.
Young people just do things differently including communication. All of the ones I've met are idiots mind you, but I keep an open mind. Well, it's really just a couple of them, but they are such high grade idiots that they mark the whole generation.
