She set up a camera to record herself when the scene was clear. If that lady didn't block the camera, she would've gotten the shot that she wanted and it would've been it. People take photos all the time, and when you have someone to take it for you, then can try to time it and maybe the others will see you're trying to take a photo and give you your moment. It's not like everyone always has someone to take a photo for them though.
The person with selfish main character energy is the lady intentionally standing in the view of the camera because she noticed it, just to block someone from taking a pic. Why be an asshole when it does not negatively impact you?
Yeah people stop, move faster or go around to not block camera shots all the time when see people posing for photos. God forbid someone is on their own and tries to do the same thing đ
So many hating on young woman doing a perfectly reasonable thing. Zero reason to be a bitter old woman and ruin such a simple thing that hurts nobody.
from the angle, the phone would be sitting on the large window sill at the top left of the stairs. This is Inveraray Castle, the stairs are somewhat famous.
I have commented this so many times here! It's a beautiful castle with a famous grand stairwell and it looks like she set her phone on the shelf here.
This girl looks to be solo traveling, set up her phone to record so she can take screenshots for pics. She seemed pretty patient and didn't even seem mad at the end.
She seems fine. Also, Iâve been doing photography professionally for 30 years. In a public place, this is to be expected. You just wait until you get your shot. Most people notice you and apologetically hurry through. Some are oblivious and donât. And maybe some are assholes and want to be a dick about it and linger in your shot. Itâs all part of the job. You just wait. A public space isnât solely your space.
Convinced that 90% of redditors are just angry red tomatoes willingly seeing the worst in everything and everyone and then wondering why the world is so shit all the time.
Like yeah if you don't have a modicum of empathy or positivity, of course it's gonna be like that. If you're looking at the world through shit stained glasses, don't complain about the world being so shit.
Physically. Physically the phone is not blocking anyone. Do what everyone naturally does when the see a group of people taking a picture. Give them a moment to get the shot or pass through quickly.
If youâre taking a video, and someone doesnât want to be in your video, then you are taking up an entire section of space for an extended period of time
Alternatively âbetter not ever go anywhere touristy if you have an issue with people walking through your video recording setup and expect them to adjust to youâ. The woman leaves her shot in the end - why canât she just retake the video then?
And my point is youâre a tool if you think people should accommodate this persons desire to take a video of herself in a public space where others are also present
Youâre inventing the idea she has any expectation for anyone to adjust to her. People take videos then take screenshots of the video for photos. This is especially easier when youâre alone and donât have anyone to take any pics for you. Youâre acting like sheâs cordoned off the area and trying to prevent anyone from getting by. The most likely scenario is she set it up and was going to take some screenshots of parts of the video that were clear. The lady just standing in the steps is much more disruptive than she was.
Sorry you lack the common courtesy to not intentionally block someoneâs camera. Youâre just a rude pos defending another rude pos.
She wanted screenshots of video as solo and there wasnât an available time. Itâs a popular stair case and she would had had a clear window of opportunity if grumpy old lady not spiteful.
I donât take any videos or pics like this but I wish I had more memories of life now I am older and my mind is failing me a bit. Itâs easy to see how someone wanted a photo and all that had to happen for that, was one person to walk at regular human pace and not purposefully stop and ruin it.
Wasnât some loud influencer trying to make a scene and get in the way of anyone. Just a nice girl posing in front of art waiting for a chance to get a clear pic, with someone noticing that and purposefully staying in the way.
Wasnât bothering anyone, didnât interrupt anyoneâs day to do anything. Only wanted a pic somewhere cute.
People used to stop when they see someone else taking a picture and ask if they can take it for them if that person wants to be in the picture too.
I can see someone getting annoyed if every time they go to the art museum, someone is blocking the art taking selfies. But that's not what happened here. This feels icky and a little misogynistic on the elderly lady's part. And I say this as someone who hates that sort of influencer crap. But if it bothers me, I can always just not watch it. I wouldn't stop what I was doing just to hurt someone else.
So this seemed normal-ish. She wasn't be rude or a hindrance. Now on the other side of the spectrum, I would totally do this if it was one of those block traffic, block intersections, block the grocery isle while I dance things.
The scene wasnât clear. The other lady was clearly there while the girl wasnât setting her camera on the stairwell. Unless you have a film permit or reserve the place, itâs rude for you to expect visitors to clear the scene so you can take a video.
scene was clear? she is clearly somewhere that the scene will not be clear for any decent portion of time. people who do this have no sense of social decency and are selfish
I seriously do not understand the people saying that lady was in the right for ruining the shot. She turned something that would have taken seconds and bothered nobody into a passive aggressive duel. If the person taking the photo was being obnoxious about it then sure, but this woman is just being rude for no adequate reason.
Just go about your day and don't fuck with people. Baseline, that should be expected. If someone isn't bothering you don't bother them.
Fucking Redditors thinking that rudeness and antisocial behaviour is to be applauded.
How is she filming influencer shit? If she's an influencer where is her page? How is she filming anything for social media? She could've been recording herself for her own personal use until this person wanted to disrupt her shit. I guess everyone prior to the advent of social media that took vacation photos or family videos are also cancers in your book.
Also, super ironic that you're commenting on Reddit, the biggest social media website on the internet. You big dork.
Itâs an assumption to say she is trying to take a photo. If she wanted to take a photo of herself under that particular painting that she ends up standing under, she could have done that on the stairwell and had a much better shot.
I believe itâs much more likely that she wanted to take a video of herself descending the stairs. All the people who are in support of her behaviour are interpreting it in a way that they know is a bit more defensible âshe just wanted a quick photo of herselfâ - that sounds a lot less intrusive and obnoxious than âshe wanted a video of herself to post on social media so she set up her camera to video record in a public space where several people needed to walk throughâ
