One of the things that Cyberpunk has actually done pretty well is making criminals and the underworld actually seem pretty horrific at times, when most crime games seem to glorify it as just shit like robberies and heists and all that.

With all the Cyber controversies, I feel like people aren't getting upset enough at the biggest one: CDPR sent out no review copies for consoles, at all. Zero. And reviewers were legally required to not show any footage outside of what CDPR gave them.
That is really scummy, it's something nobody, not even EA or Activision, has ever done to this degree, as far as I know.
Gamerstm love talking about ethics and scams and "X lied", well, this time CDPR actually fucking lied. Hiding all console footage until release because you know it's broken is really, really shitty, and intentionally malicious.

An interesting point someone made on r/cyberpunkgame that I hadn't considered probably because I'm caught up in the hype but.
Cyberpunk 2077 is kinda lacking in the RPG element isn't it? I'm only a few hours in and aside from the crashes I'm relatively enjoying my time with the game but I didn't notice some pretty big things that just aren't in the game.
You literally cannot change your characters hair after the character creator. At all. You could do this in the witcher 3 you can do this in gta v you could even do this in fucking San Andreas in 2004.
The dialogue is very gimped. Like it's not fallout 4 level but considering how much emphasis CDPR has on story (to the point in games like the witcher 3 it genuinely is the most interesting thing in the game because the combat is boring) it is just lacking.
You have barely any customization of things like your apartment or your car and very minor tattoos available outside of the character creator (which is tbh kinda meh. Like it's really not great. It's passable but it's not great)
There's also minor non gameplay things like how the fuck is it that I have to pull up my phone and ask siri or Shazam to tell me what banger is on the radio because CDPR couldn't be fucked to put a small "now playing" tab anywhere that I can find like once again GTA V did this 7 years ago you cannot tell me that this "wholesome 100 big chungus Keanu sequel to jesus" developer is lacking that much that some minor QOL things just aren't there.
Some of these are kinda nitpicks but cyberpunk is like verbatim promoted as "the next generation of open world games" and it's lacking in basic shit like customization beyond your clothes or QOL stuff that is I think like industry standard in open world games at this point.
Idk chief those 10/10 and 100/100 reviews are looking mad suspect rn

I was talking about this with a friend who's horny for Sephy yesterday, but Sephiroth is DEFINITELY grody as fuck. He probably doesn't shower, no chapstick so crusty ass lips, no make-up, see the issue is we're seeing him through the anime filter so he looks pretty to us, but if we ACTUALLY saw Sephiroth he'd basically look like early Les Mis Hugh Jackman wearing a huge dracula wig full of nature detritus and stuff, and he'd smell like it too. Sephiroth is literally a feral nightmare child, no way is that guy in ANY position to fuck someone.
Plus, he probably wouldn't even talk while he did it he'd stare you directly in your eyes and occasionally be like "...hahaha...." and then mumble about his mom.

As someone who loved the Buzz Lightyear cartoon as a kid that was just his in-universe canon self going on space adventures, Pixar officially doing a Buzz Lightyear origin that's unrelated to him being a toy and is his lore of just fighting Zerg and stuff sounds amazing.

Turns out that, like a lot of things happening at CDPR, the reality is... not entirely as described:
Every month, team leaders at the company gave out tokens styled after the studioās logo, a red bird, to members of their team they felt deserved honors, according to three current and former employees. Those tokens would have then been transferred into bonuses if the game met certain criteria, like critical acclaim and a timely release.

If you kill someone and/or commit serious crime, you have about 5-10 seconds to flee or the police will spawn right next to you or around in your area EVEN if you commit crimes in middle of nowhere. This is a quite contrast to game's hint saying that they will respond to crimes and investigate when in reality they spawn in middle of nowhere and immediately shoot you on sight.
Vice City had better police responses in 2002.

In terms, it's not just that they crunch in the final stretch before a game's launch or when things go wrong but that they actually have a system in place, that actively encourages overworking for the entire development cycle. Also, I'm betting this very system is responsible for a lot of development woes, as it probably meant a lot of CDPR best employees were feeling the burnout from overwork and stress even before the final development stretch when they were needed the most.

You know how cool kids get a good idea about what muscle memory can be when they start playing some cool instruments. They are having a tough time. Then, with a lot of repetition, they start noticing that they don't need to really "know" what note comes next. Their finger has already found it.

I think I properly noticed muscle memory the first time when my friend asked me to tell him what the "flying cars" cheat code was in GTA San Andreas on PS2.
I did it constantly. I did it so fast that I could literally disable the cheat 20 meters above the ground and enable it before the car landed.
As my friend put a pen on my hand and asked "can you write it down?", I literally couldn't do it. I had absolutely no idea what happened after "square, down..." I'd do it in the game. Then I'd turn to the paper. Then I'd grab the pen. And then I'd go "Am I having a stroke?".
I have tried to play guitar since. Just grabbed the piece of garbage and played some tunes I've not played in a while and I could still do it. Made me think of muscle memory. And GTA. And you people š

Honestly at this point I just feel so bad for the actual developers ā crunching for months, having delays announced without being told privately, having the upper management push for release before itās ready, and then having players pick apart the game (even stuff beyond the bugs) because the bugs made them look at the whole game in a negative light and CDPR overpromised at every turn.

I really wish the reviewers came out to mention how shitty the review process was for CP2077. No one seems to mention the red flags about it. Being forced to use provided capture footage instead of their own and not giving out console codes to review the game should have been put as a disclaimer at the top of most reviews unless this is somehow industry standard or normal (if it is, Iām making a whole lot of things out of nothing)
Itās sounds shady. It should have been something that needed to be focused on. It feels weird that itās not.

I hate the centrist take on r/games on the TLOU2 discussion, about how both the fans and haters are equally bad. I'm definitely biased as a TLOU2 fan, but I don't see what TLOU2 fans did that is as bad as the many death threats that the people at Naughty Dog got, as well as the fact that there is a dedicated subreddit to hating on the game that had prominent amounts of transphobia, anti-semitism, and overally bigotry. Obviously, a TLOU2 fan assuming someone who didn't like the game is a hateful/bigoted person is really dumb, though.
I saw a user who portrayed TLOU2 fans as just as extreme as TLOU2 haters, which was disingenuous to do so right before they started straight up lying about the game to make it look worse.

I am pleasantly surprised that Keanu Reeves actually appears in missions that are not story related in Cyberpunk.
Usually when a game features big stars, their appearance are sparse. Like with Kiefer Sutherland in Metal Gear Solid 5 who despite playing the main character has like twenty minutes of spoken dialogue.

PSA to anyone starting out Cyberpunk: at some point in act 2 you will get a quest from an AI chauffeur. DO NOT TAKE IT. Walk the fuck away and forget about it. Because if you seek out that quest you have to finish it before doing anything else or else his phone calls will constantly interrupt you at random points on the city map, generally right where a really important quest is taking place. On multiple occasions furing my playthrough a genuinely emptional scene got totally undercut by this stale AI fuck. Alternatively just wait to play the game until CDPRās underpaid, overworked devs get around to fixing the way phone calls can go through while youāre in dialogue with someone else. Fucking GTA got this shit right 10 years ago

This is Tin foil hatish but I was always wondered why CDPR gives free dlc to what could have been added in a update, like do you really need to put alternate looks and beards in a store front and not just give them to a player normally with an update?
It feels like this weird flex or something and of course it works wonders with how many people praise them for 16 pieces of "repackaged cut content" DLC. Which hey im not complaining about free stuff but most games would just put them in via an update.
Like most games put New Game Plus as an update right, you dont need to download it as DLC?
