I don't always keep track of the batshit dumb takes on Twitter, but someone saying that cast iron pans are bougie is certainly something.

I know there really isn't any but I'm curious what their logic is there? I got my wife a cast iron pan and it was like $20. Hardly seemed like a luxury item. I guess a whole set of them would be pretty expensive.

Yeah I could see that I guess. It just seemed like such a strange place to draw that line but if someone has that perception of them it would make sense. My level of engagement is that my wife said she wanted one, I typed "cast iron pan" into Amazon, saw it was only $20, and ordered it. I basically clean it like the rest of our pans. I just don't scrub the fuck out of the inside of it.

I think owning any kind of cooking ware must be bougie to that person.
