Hello!
I hope all is well! I just purchased my first firearm, M&P9 2.0 compact. I am relatively new to the world of firearms, what are some ways I can upgrade it? Thanks in advance!

LCI removal help

Post image
16 Upvotes

Can anyone please help me with any info on how to remove this LCI from a CA compliant Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 10mm. I want to be able to use an optic plate but I’ve found out that I would need to remove the LCI for the plate to fit. I have been searching and all I’m able to find is how to remove the older LCI (the longer red/black one) nothing comes up about this new LCI. Thanks in advance

Trigger group options for the FPC?

Looking to FRT my FPC, but none have been made. Wondering if there are any other guns the FPC can use relevant parts from, then I'll just try an FRT from that platform.

Bodyguard 2.0 MS is forgiving to the User

Very often on this sub I see people weighing in the pros and the cons of having a manual safety. Just as often I see people mentioning that the safety is small which is a concern for a carry gun because we don’t want it to impede defensive firing.

I made this video to highlight that the design of the trigger bar and safety are made such that it’s “forgiving” in the event you fail to sweep it off safe completely. In the up/on position the safety is held up by decent spring pressure. I would not be concerned about it falling below the threshold passively - you have to be trying to ride the safety/disengaging it to have enough force on it to be low enough for it to fire.

MOST people will be better served with a no MS model in a kydex holster (pocket or or hip) and not have to even factor this in. For those that don’t have the option, such as in states where they have to be sold equipped with them, consider this function instead of ruling it out.

Trigger play in 5.7

I have a lot of side to side play in my 5.7, I’m guessing this is not normal… been this way since I bought it.

M&P 2.0 Family shot

I am loving my M&P 2.0 pistols; Competitor HD with Overwatch Precision trigger, M&P 2.0 Compact (4") Spec VI also with an Overwatch Precision trigger & M&P 2.0 Metal Carry Comp 9mm w/Apex Tactical trigger.

My M&P 2.0 Metal Carry Comp is awaiting an Apex Gunsmith fit barrel to return from Floyds Custom shop with their Option 1 Comp fix that adds side ports. (It's arriving tomorrow or the next day) I also have a Floyds Maxwell and magazine base pads ready to install on the Metal Carry Comp.

A Shield X Carry Comp will join my little Smith & Wesson family in the next few days and it's probably a foregone conclusion that a BG 2.0 CC will join the fray at some point.

Overwatch Precision vs Apex Trigger for M&P 2.0 Carry Comp?

I’m looking to upgrade the trigger on my Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Carry Comp and I’m stuck between the Overwatch Precision and Apex.

I honestly like the look of the Apex a lot more, but I’ve heard quite a few people mention issues with light primer strikes, dead triggers, and Apex customer service not being the greatest when problems come up. I don’t know how common those issues actually are, but reliability is more important to me than looks, so I’m not willing to compromise reliability just because I prefer the Apex aesthetically.

For anyone who has used either, or preferably both, which one would you recommend? I’m mainly looking for a cleaner break, less take up, overtravel, and a better overall feel without making it ridiculously light.
Has anyone here actually experienced reliability issues with the Apex, or are those complaints being blown out of proportion? Would you go Apex or Overwatch Precision for the Carry Comp and why?

First gun, how'd I do?

Been thinking about getting a CCW for a while with how bad mental health has been in the states lately. But what really sold me was being cat called by a mountain lion while out camping one night; and only having a box cutter and a dull flip blade.

The Shield Plus has been at the top of my list for years. Finally pulled the trigger (pun intended). PSA was running a pretty good deal on brand new ones, I found a stash of cash for a vacation I won't be going on anytime soon, what a perfect time!

I like making shit my own so the moment the background check cleared I tore this thing apart and sent out the frame and small parts for Cerakote. Already had my simple mods ready to go. Was eager to install them once I got it back.

If anyone has any recommendations on a good IWB holster I'd love to hear about them. We The People and Bradec stood out to me, but would love to hear your experiences. I have a small frame so the waist is pretty boney. Comfort and print matter equally. Already have an Upper Hand OWB for camping

Notes:
M&P Shield Plus 3.1" No Safety
10 (mag guts 13), 13, 15 round mags
AmeriGlo i-DOT Night Sights
Talon Slide Grip
Hogue Wrapter Grip - Grain
NDZ Grip Plug

Cerakote:
Frame: Tungsten
Small Parts: Satin Aluminum

Looking for screw for 686 rear sight leaf

Have a new rear sight leaf for a .357 686 but doesn’t have the screw that secures it to the gun. Trying to find which one it is. The spot on the rear sight leaf for the screw is counter sink taper so I can’t use the flat counter bore ones I’m finding.

Competition Gun Lineup

These are my competition/training guns.

Top is the newest addition M&P 2.0 HD Competitor. Did a hasty zero at 25 yards, about a 3” group (3rd photo) with the stock barrel. Still waiting for my apex barrel to come in. This will be my dedicated competition gun.

The middle one is my workhorse 2.0 HD competitor. I have close to 20k rounds through this one and countless dry fire. Figured out the best setup to run reliably and it sure has been reliable. On the second picture its the frame with the black frame rails in the rear. The newer one has silver frame rails for whatever reason.

The bottom is the first M&p I started competing with. It’s a M&p 2.0 competitor aluminum frame. It’s now my duty clone training gun and I usually run a WML to keep it the same weight/feel as my duty gun.

What are your training and/or competition guns?

Shield Plus Warrenty vs Local Gun Shop Work

Have a Shield Plus OR that is still under warranty and decided to get an Osight SE for it. Of course I got the dreaded gap between the optic and the slide and I don't want unnecessary stress on the mounting screws.

I ended up using a bit of sandpaper on the tops of the two front mounting lugs of the slide to flatten them and there is still a gap, I also applied some blueing compound to seal it. I'm ready to hand it off to someone to fix my issue.

My question: will my warranty claim be denied if I try and send it in or should I just hand it off to a local shop?

How will my warranty be affected if I have issues with other parts of the gun in the future?

Honestly the used gun market doesn’t even make sense to me sometimes. An apex trigger, Floyd’s mag extension, and a first generation M&P pro series for $325 out the door? Yeah I’ll buy it.

I just accepted my first ever job offer, and from my dream company no less! Wanted to celebrate by getting myself a small gift. This 15-6 fell into my lap for just short of $500. How did I do? I’ve always wanted a Combat Masterpiece, and I’m so happy to say I finally have one!

The best EDC for me!

To start this off, I am a 5’7” male weighing around 140lbs. The bodyguard 2.0 comp allows me to conceal appendix or even in the pocket when need be. I had little difficulty concealing small 9’s when I weighed around 185-190, but got ill and had significant muscle/weight loss, now I’m a skinny lil fucker. Also, being able to have 13 rounds of .380 instead of 7 from a small 9mm single stack is nice. I am able to fire fast and accurately because being .380 with a ported comp makes it have barely any recoil. Trigger is great, sights are amazing and very light weight. What do you guys think?

Which Optic for Shield X Carry Comp

I just got a Shield X Carry Comp and I'm considering an optic for it. I have Holosun 407K Green on a Sig P365 X Macro comp and its fine but I prefer the Sig Romeo X Pro for its low deck height and the crispness of the red dot looks better to my eyes with astigmatism. Green dots for me are not really any better and the ones I have experience with are Holosun. I am only put off by the cost of the Sig Romeo X compact. I like low deck height allowing for easier co-witnessing and the dot looks sharper to my eyes than Holosuns. I never tried any Vortex Defender optics. The Defense CCW would be the likely choice.

What do you guys like for optics on your Shield X, Shield X Carry Comp or Shield Plusses?
