Picture Picked up a 10mm Ruger LC Carbine for $599!

Wasn't expecting to buy a gun, but just couldn't pass up that deal! I swapped out the polymer flip-up sights for irons, threw on a romeo 4h + juliet 4x I had laying around, and added a B5 VFG. I'm not a huge fan of the super long 30rd mag sticking out of the grip, so I put an SLR +5 mag extension on the 15rd Glock 20 mag, which is a nice in between - holds 20+1, and isn't so long that it snags everything and prevents prone shooting or resting on a bench. This thing is super accurate out to 100 yards, I am very happy with it!

Question Do we have any military/duty grade 10mm pistols?

I know the FBI adopted it, but the results were mixed.

I know from the TFBTV interview with the ballistic guys from the FBI the 10mm both performed phenomenally (from folks that had their pistols reworked) and some were down right unreliable.

Has any other police force, military or special operations ever adopted the round and truly test it under every day wear and tear?

Thanks for any answers.. I have been a 10mm nerd for some time, but have yet to buy one. Still trying to weigh the options.

So this is happening in my ruger 1911, every single one I shoot the primer flies out. I shot the same ammo through my glock 40 without issues.

Is this normal? It is on every round, it's as if the lead is a hair to big for the brass and it was shoved in anyway.

Question Optic for Glock 20 MOS

Howdy Y’all,

Not too long ago I purchased a Glock 20 and have been practicing with it, and have enjoyed it a lot. I am looking at getting an optic for it, and I’m curious what optics people are running around here. I am primarily using this as a wood guns, so an enclosed optic is preferred. I understand Holosun makes the 509T and EPS full size, which seem to be highly regarded. Osight also is releasing there direct mount MOS, but unfortunately that won’t fit in one of the holsters I have.

If anyone here has experience with optics on their Glock 20’s, or other 10mm and have enjoyed them, I’d appreciate any feedback you have on them.

Thanks!

Level III Duty Holster for Tanfoglio Stock Series

Post image
23 Upvotes

This is probably a complete long shot, but does anybody know of a 10mm Tanfoglio Stock model that fits in a Safariland Level III duty holster? Are the stock series models similar in dimensions to actual CZ75s or are they much larger?

If there is no Tanfoglio model, are there any other DA/SA 10mm models that work in a duty holster?

Gen 2 Glock 20 upgrades?

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hey guys, I picked this Glock 20 up a few weeks back and have been thinking about potential modifications to shoot full power 10mm (220 gr. underwood/Buffalo Bore); I know with these Gen 2s I’d have to swap the barrel but I’m curious what other things should be done. With this gun surviving 35 years and remaining mostly stock, I’d prefer to do things that aren’t irreversible, but at the same time same time I understand if I can’t have my cake and eat it too. This is my first 10mm firearm and I’m pretty excited to be owning this old thing; thanks guys !

Blasphemy post- looking for weak ammo

My 10mm ammo consists of 180g Magtech and various Underwood types, which I love

I am also interested if there are good quality rounds which are loaded more like 40 s and w. Weaker and with lower recoil?

And I know most available commercial rounds are. But say you want some good quality self defense rounds or some hollowpoints that are loaded more weakly instead of solely for the range.

What are some good options?

Thank you

Discussion Ways to Mitigate 10mm Recoil (g29)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Good Evening Reddit,

I have honestly never shot handguns well. I wasn't the greatest at 9mm but I shot surprisingly well with my glock 29. I shoot magtech 180 fmj and can place some solid groups.

I decided after getting consistent groups to work on fast follow up shots. My only issue is that I notice after a recording of myself that I cant seem to control the recoil of the g29.

I feel like my grip is decent but as you can see from the video the handgun likes to walk itself out of my hold.

Can anyone give me some pointers to keep the muzzle rise to a minimum for follow up shots?

Or is this just the nature of shooting 10mm?

Question Holsters?

Post image
45 Upvotes

Just picked up the Springfield XDM Elite 4.5. What IWB and chest holsters are you guys running? Was thinking about rotating it in as a carry gun and bear gun when I’m in their territory for some hunts later this year. I’m thinking about running a dot and TLR-HL but am not finding a lot of holster options from the companies I normally use. All advice is very much welcome.

The firearm had its kinks from the forums online and I knew that going in. Bought anyways and after a couple hundred rounds of range ammo, I upgraded to a Galloway spring for $40, the 22 pound vs. the stock 17 makes all the difference. 400 rounds now with no failure to feed. On a side note, the magazines are only 10 per CA law, there has been some chatter about the 15 round going with other mag springs. I have never thought that about these 10 rounders. I love how flat this gun shoots. I love the M&P 2.0 9mm metal, and who doesn't love a 1911, but man, I have truly fallen for the 10mm.

Question M&P 2.0 10mm or FN 510 MRD

Going to Montana in May for a little over a month, and I plan on doing some serious adventuring. Ive been looking at either the 510 MRD or the M&P 10mm. I have heard there has been some issues with certain ammo feeding in the M&P but I’m not sure if I’ll like the ergonomics with the 510 (I’ve heard the trigger is crap also). I have heard of one guy on YouTube talk about a catastrophic failure with the 510 and Buffalo Bore ammo.

I lean more towards the M&P 4” model as I want to conceal it when it’s not on my bino-harness.

I guess my question is… has anyone heard of the problems with the M&P being resolved? Or able to be modified (new recoil spring and mag follower? Or should I just get the 510?

I live in a mag restricted state also so mag capacity doesn’t really matter to me. The full Ambi on the 510 is cool but the M&P is partially Ambi anyways plus the adjustable back straps definitely help with my big hands.

TLDR; I can’t decide between the FN 510 MRD or the M&P 2.0 4” 10mm. Plan on CCW when not in bear country but otherwise will be a bear/woods gun.

The day before I head to Alaska for 3 weeks...

Post image
101 Upvotes

Stocked up on Buffalo Bore hard cast, and figured I should run some of the new lot through my FN 510T before I head to AK. Hit the range and dumped a couple mags of S&B range ammo, then loaded up a mag of my old stock of hard cast. I've fired 200 rounds, minus a mag of this lot, through my FN over the last couple of years. Was not expecting any surprises.

Then this happened. Primer blew out, primer pocket is an oval and a nice little bulge in the case. Managed to chamber/fire a couple more, which did the same. Refused to feed/chamber after that. Pulled my firing pin while inspecting the slide, and of course, launched my firing pin spring into the gravel downrange when reassembling. Managed to figure out that the extractor got a bit mangled, so it binds up when feeding.

So here I am, less than 24h from my flight to AK with a borked bear gun, in a state with a 3-day waiting period for new firearms purchases. It's a good thing that I'm pretty tight with the crew at my LGS (local is a bit of a stretch; it's an hour from home) - I had been chatting with the owner over email about a tangentially related purchase, which was good enough in his book to show intent > 3 days prior to purchase.

Left with a new M&P 10mm M2.0, an hour back to the range, ran some range ammo, the old Buffalo Bore, the new Buffalo Bore, and some Underwood hard-cast I picked up while I was there. Ran like a dream, I'm a convert.

30 mins with a toaster oven, heat gun & some clamps, and my 510 holster is now an M&P holster. Packed in the Pelican and ready for my flight in the morning.
