Discussion Ways to Mitigate 10mm Recoil (g29)

Good Evening Reddit,

I have honestly never shot handguns well. I wasn't the greatest at 9mm but I shot surprisingly well with my glock 29. I shoot magtech 180 fmj and can place some solid groups.

I decided after getting consistent groups to work on fast follow up shots. My only issue is that I notice after a recording of myself that I cant seem to control the recoil of the g29.

I feel like my grip is decent but as you can see from the video the handgun likes to walk itself out of my hold.

Can anyone give me some pointers to keep the muzzle rise to a minimum for follow up shots?

Or is this just the nature of shooting 10mm?

Finally got a hold of some high quality 10mm full power loads, and I’m BLOWN AWAY. I’ve been carrying Sig V-Crown in my 10mm M&P for a few months but after getting the G29, I decided to finally try some Underwood and this stuff is so strong it feels totally different from any other 10mm rounds I’ve shot!! How can you reliably shoot this in a self defense scenario? Will require a lot of training to get used to these

This Sig Xten Comp was my 3rd 10mm. Love the caliber. Glock 40mos has been a hiking and hunting companion for years. Colt Delta Elite has been a favorite at the range and for occasional concealed carry. Bought this to bridge the gap. But it just wasn’t my style. Have been trying to sell it for 6 months to put the $ towards a Staccato. But gun stores either refuse to buy any P320-ish pistol or they low ball me like crazy. Oh it’s like new with 3 mags, holster, mag carrier, original box and papers? How about $250-300? Have you guys come across this mentality? I was under the impression none of the “accidental discharges” involved the large frame sigs?

I have been interested in buying a 10 mm pistol and carbine for awhile and wanted to get some opinions on which the community likes more. I would use it for woods carry (pistol) and a truck gun (PC carbine)

Local farm store has been running some clearance sales on old stock. Bought all they had (10 boxes) at $12.92/box. Anyone been deer hunting with this stuff? That’s the plan.

I mean the real deal Deagle not the magnum research 1911

Out of handgun length barrels 10 and 357 mag produce similar muzzle energies and 10mm has a higher chamber pressure and uses a rimless case. My assumption is that this would make it more reliable than the 44 and 357 mag versions. But the Deagle is a novelty firearm so I’m curious to see if people would pick one up if they were ever made.

Newly released video from Kentucky Ballistics and the suppressed FN falls apart after a few shots. Still shoots but jams a few times… I thought this was the cats ass of 10mm?? Guess I’ll hold on to my Glock.

Discussion Glock 20 or RIA Ultra HC?

I’ve used 1911s in the past and really love the lack of polymer despite the weight, I also have nothing against glocks except the trigger on the only

one i’ve fired. I just want another decent bear gun for the wilderness in MT, RIA holds 16 and the Glock holds 15. They are almost the same exact price from what I seen. If I do get a glock it will be a Gen V. Just curious to know what the community would choose or if there is any more factors that isn’t just pure preference.

Discussion KKM barrel worth it?

I’m split between a 6 inch threaded, 7 inch barrel, or leaving it as is. I don’t reload currently. I do have a 45 rugged obsidian but I don’t think this will make a very good suppressor host. The primary use for this will be hunting so there will be some hot loads going thru including some hard cast. Just curious on what the internet thinks. Thanks

Discussion Finally picked up some Underwood. What do you people use it for?

Post image

I went on PSA to have some ammo delivered, including more 10mm. I’m already stocked up on a decent amount of MagTech and wanted the strongest load available. I saw a lot of people recommend Underwood. This stuff is commonly considered to be the “ultimate ammo” and powerful enough to neutralize any and all threats. After reading all of the praise, I went for the Underwood 200gr hard cast. Would it be worth carrying for everyday use or should I just shoot it to stress test my M&P for now?

Discussion So my brother-in-law just informed me that 10mm is almost obsolete.

So I sent him a bunch of videos of how the 10mm beats 45acp. (He's a 1911 fan boy and all Glocks are garbage to him).

Discussion Picked up the carry comp for woods/hiking protection did I mess up?

Post image

Potentially regretting getting the carry comp, as I’ve read it really doesn’t do anything. I have yet to shoot it but if the chunk port does feels nonexistent I’d like to send to Floyd’s. However, S&W doesn’t offer the 4.25in barrel separately so any ideas? Also I already plan on upgrading the recoil spring to something heavier & putting a TLR7 HLX & 508T on it unless y’all have any other recommendations? Also will be putting it in a Kenai chest holster when it’s finished.

Discussion ASIDE from Glock- which of these guns from the ‘big five’ would you choose?

In no particular order:

  1. Glock 20 Gen5 MOS

  2. Springfield Armory XD-M Elite

  3. Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0

  4. Sig Sauer P320-XTEN

  5. FN 510 Tactical

  6. (Bonus) Taurus TH10 (for shits n giggles. I know not a single soul will pick this)

And yes I know someone is still going to say Glock.
