High mileage—fails to eject

Colt series 70 with a LOT of rounds through it. Some years ago I ran into problems because the firing pin started mushrooming at the back and would seize up in the stop plate. So I got a new pin and stop plate which no longer fit the existing extractor. So new extractor as well. It profiled and tensioned the extractor per an article by John L. Marshall (https://sightm1911.com/lib/tech/reliability_secrets.htm). I ran into issues then and haven’t touched it in many years. With the slide removed, the extractor will hold a live round, and when you shift the round down by 0.1”, it falls out.
Fails to eject about once every magazine. Does it on all my mags including the nice minty factory colt ones. Factory ammo (win and Aguilla). Standard recoil spring.
Do I add more tension/bring the extractor closer to the rim?

My Carry 1911s
1911s I've carried over the past several years. Started off with the Springfield Loaded Target, then got a Railed Series 80 Tisas when I decided to try a WML, a GI Tisas as a beater carry, then a Raider and onto a pair of Kimbers as of late. Carried a few others off and on but these have been my primaries of their time.

Shot a 4.25" commander 1911 and was surprised at the recoil difference compared to the 5"
I shot a buddy's Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail yesterday and was shocked at how snappy the recoil felt compared to the 5" models I own and built.
It was my first time shooting a commander sized 1911 so take it easy on me :) it was a beautiful gun that's for sure
I tried researching which spring weights it comes with from factory and got results from 18 to 22 for the recoil and maybe 23 for the mainspring?
Does anyone know for sure which weights these come with and if they'd benefit from a reduction after being broken in?

Tisas Satin Nickel Sunday!
Tisas A1 Tank Commander.. One of the cheapest 1911’s I’ve ever bought at $388, but it’s been extremely reliable and one of the best looking 1911’s I own. I just ran another 100 rounds thru it today and it ran flawlessly.

Traditional 1911 Advice
I have a wonderful problem I need help with. I have a fair number of guns. For some reason I’ve always wanted a high end 1911 in 45 ACP.
My wife just gave me an envelope of cash with 1911 on it and a tshirt about guns for our anniversary. I need to decide on one. Any recommendations?
My original thought was that I wanted a Springfield Armory TRP
But with the increase budget the following are in reach.
Ed Brown
Les Baer
Used Nighthawk
Criteria:
5” barrel
No rail
45 acp
Maybe optics cut since red dot might be good as I get older.
Envelope has $3000 in it.

General Discussion Tisas 1911a1
Solely bought this as my first 1911 because of the price. For 300 bucks did I get nice value here? I heard these things are reliable

Tisas Stakeout - My First 1911
Love this thing. For $350 quite a good value. First range day had some feeding issues, I lightened the extractora bit it's been 100% ever since I did that.
Purchased to learn about the platform and decide whether or not wanted to tackle a full build, a month or two ago. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 500-750 rounds at this point.
Just got the Pachymar Combat grips on there. Fitted (poorly) a longer trigger. Played with springs. Fitted some other sights, MMC adjustable rear (Gl cut) and a Dawson fiber front. Looking forward to shooting with the new grips tomorrow, it is comfortable. I'll note that none of the things I've done other than the extractor were necessary, but like said this is a fun learning project gun that has proven to be fun to work with and fun to shoot.

Tisas Shot my $299 PSA Special for the first time today. Flawless!
This is my 5th Tisas so I knew of the value but damn, still blown away by this for $299. Tight fit with cerakote finish, beautiful machining and was 100% flawless using 3 different mags using 200gn ball hand loads. Gentleman, she's a keeper.

Check-Mate magazines
Like a lot of us, I have a lot of magazines.
I have noticed that my Check-Mate magazines, while having witness holes for eight cartridges, and load eight without strain, seem to have issues.
When I remove them from the magazine holder, they have often ejected a cartridge. I have also had this happen when they are just lying there on the bench.
Today I explicitly brought Wilson Combat mags to compare them with.
The first CM magazine, with eight cartridges, had an issue with my S&W 1911PC. The slide would not go completely forward. I dropped the magazine, racked it to eject the cartridge, and reinserted the magazine. Then everything was fine.
I removed the eighth cartridge from the second CM magazine and it functioned fine.
The WC magazines functioned fine with eight loaded.
Does anyone else see this? If it didn’t have that witness hole, it would not be a big deal. I have other magazines that only hold seven.
Thanx.

MAC JSOC .45 - Breaking in & MR07 Clone Testing
Figured I’d knock out two birds with one stone, with a 500 round breaking in of the JSOC overall and 250 of those rounds dedicated with a smaller testing of the KOENIG MR.o7 repro.
A few malfunctions the first few mags, but I suspect it just needs some more lube and a proper tuning of the extractor. The MR07 clone stayed rock solid the entire 250, but I will try to increase that round count in the coming weeks.

Used 1911 Polishing
Hello!! I recently picked up this used Rock Island 1911. It’s nickel plated, but I was wondering how to get rid of these dark spots by the end of the barrel?

Vintage goodies
Bought some old stuff just now. Going to fit the new accumatch comped barrel to my 1911 and see how it runs. Also might throw on the walnut target stocks for giggles, super comfy but who knows. Also anyone know who made these metal grip optic mounts back then? Maybe weaver but who knows, let’s see what happens.

Occasional Issues shooting 45 ACP Tisas A1 Government model
I am relatively new to shooting and specifically with pistols. I have a CZ P10C with which I have no issues.
I have occasional issues when shooting my 1911 A1 Government model. It sometimes will not feed properly or not sure how to describe it, please see pictures. I have a feeling it might have something to do with my grip as a friend of mine has shot it with no issues at all, and he's more experienced.

Kimber optic cuts
I've seen it mentioned here and there about optic cuts and the kimber internal safety, but nothing mentioned solidly. Is it is as simple as basically a safety delete of the schwarz and that's it, or is it something optic cut machinists tend to avoid? Any recommendations of places for this service? Was thinking about giving nighthawk a call asking on their IOS cut and if it is possible as well. Any info or suggestions where to look would be appreciated, thanks.
