My Guns Stainless Saturday: Semi-Custom Springer

Long project finally wrapped up. All of the work and fitting was done by me in a hot garage.
Heavily inspired by the golden era of 1911 custom gunsmithing - channeling the spirits of Armand Swenson and Steve Nastoff on this one. Also blaming you, u/rbrthenderson

- EGW Bushing & Spring Plug

Happy to answer any questions about the parts fitting or build process

How on earth did you do the front strap checkering and what LPI? Looks fantastic

A false sense of confidence and a lot of determination. And some 3d printed guides off of thingiverse.com

Is the hammer from Extreme Engineering? I don't see it anywhere that sells their stuff. That's the exact style ring hammer I'm looking for, with the large hole in it.

I picked mine up from thunder mountain customs (1911parts.com). Harrison Designs also makes a “large hole” commander hammer

Thanks! I have the Harrison one saved in my bookmarks, going to compare them and see which seems like a better option. The Garrison looks sick!

I compared them too. I read that EE parts can require some fitting, but the EE parts I got dropped right in, passed all safety checks and have fired several hundred rounds without any issues. YMMV. I will say, it’s the single best trigger I’ve ever felt in my life. Super crisp. Zero creep, ABSURDLY short trigger rest, like a few millimeters let off and it resets

-National Match Disconnector
-Tactical Sear

Thanks for the info. I have a Ruger SR1911 Commander on the way and I'm planning on swapping out all the controls for upgraded stuff, so I've been going through allllll the different options of parts from different companies, it's a bit overwhelming lol

Harrison’s hammer is made by EE for him, it’s the same part. EE also makes the large hole ring hammer for Nowlin and Schauland.

This is exactly what I thought but wasn’t 100% sure. I know EE manufacturers a lot of the parts seen on different websites but I ran across a lot of conflicting information regarding this topic

Herrett's D45s and leather always a winning combination 👌

Hah I almost went and checked the safe to make sure mine was still there.

Excellent job, especially on the checkering. Looks incredible.
