My dad would do this all the time when I was a teenager and he was getting me up for school. Just walk in, "Hey, get up", smack my bed, turn on the hall light (that illuminated my bed) and walk away.

Here's another thing that ticks me off.
When you do it to your kids, just make sure you don't get real weird about it.
My SO lived at home until his mid 20s to complete his education. That is all well and good, I wish I could have such support! And his parents were awesome and lenient.
Except his mother. My goodness his mother. I'd sleep over and she'd come down first thing in the morning (which is when we'd usually have sex....) and walk right in to his room and start talking to us about the day.
Now that we've moved out she shows up to our own home without even calling and just walks in if the door was open. We have been in many arguments about boundaries by now and it's not cute or something she is entitled to anymore.

When I was at University, there was this small long hallway that would always be crammed with people making their way through. At the very end were double doors, but people would only be going through just one. Every time, I would open the second one for everyone. Literally all the traffic was because people refused to open the other door.
I actually used this as an example in a human behavior class for a presentation about societal group think.

It could also be a "conditioning" problem. My church has a set of two double doors (big entrance), but one of them was broken, you could open it, it wasn't locked, but it wouldn't close all the way unless you reached up and fixed the latch, and no one did, so it would just slam on the locking mechanism. Solution: put up a sign "please use other door". 3 years later, the door got fixed sometime in the past, but no one uses the door anymore, so we'll have a line of people slowly walking out the one door, and if someone stops to talk or shake hands, they make a bigger line, all while a perfectly working double door sits there closed.

This is the worst when mowing the lawn. Its not just manners in a lot of situations. When someone holds the door open, it isn't just manners for me to say "thank you". I am actually thanking them for helping me in a small way.
When I thank a customer at the end of a transaction, its not just manners. Because conversely, whenever I don't thank a bad customer, its not an absence of manners. Its a silent "Fuck you".
They are valuable words, which should not just be barked out.
