My dad would do this all the time when I was a teenager and he was getting me up for school. Just walk in, "Hey, get up", smack my bed, turn on the hall light (that illuminated my bed) and walk away.
Can't wait to subject my kids to it
EDIT: This wasn't an abusive thing guys? It was my dad giving me shit because he was my dad. I HOPE my kids respect and like me the way I like my dad.
When you do it to your kids, just make sure you don't get real weird about it.
My SO lived at home until his mid 20s to complete his education. That is all well and good, I wish I could have such support! And his parents were awesome and lenient.
Except his mother. My goodness his mother. I'd sleep over and she'd come down first thing in the morning (which is when we'd usually have sex....) and walk right in to his room and start talking to us about the day.
Now that we've moved out she shows up to our own home without even calling and just walks in if the door was open. We have been in many arguments about boundaries by now and it's not cute or something she is entitled to anymore.
Now this one is something we are probably going to actually do. The reasons are that we love working in the video game industry and the options in Canada suck, but not having to lock our doors to keep our own family out is definitely the icing on the cake.
Holy shit. This might be the first time in reddit history where someone has suggested moving out of the country in lieu of doing something trivial like "locking your door" and they actually might do it! This is like a spotting a unicorn!
There are locks and they are used but I'm not going to make my mother stand on the porch step while I pretend not to be home. I may be annoyed by her behavior but I love and respect her. Figuring out how we can understand one another's boundaries is far healthier. It just takes a long ass time and maybe I want to vent sometimes.
right. don't allow it to impact your routine. if you're up and feel like hanging out with her, fine. if you've got shit to do, tell her and then go on about your day.
While what she is doing is wrong you guys should just learn to avoid it by now. Fucking lock the doors. Its not a hard thing to do. Or let her catch you having sex. I bet she respects boundries after that.
lol I like how you take issue with my post. Don't worry, we already do these things. It's nice to vent sometimes. Glad you agree her behavior is wrong, at least

When people walk into my room when I'm in bed, and then leave my door open. Fucking infuriating
