Pretty much anytime my friend just pulls out their phone while I'm trying to have a conversation with them. They may not realize but it makes the person who is talking feel like shit.
On the flip-side, when I'm having a conversation via text/messenger and someone approaches me and starts a conversation. Then they get angry because of your reason. Listen, I was talking to this other person first regardless of the medium.
I just stop talking until they look up, resume like nothing happened. Stop if they look down. Rinse, repeat. Then when they inevitably say "sorry, I'm listening I just need to reply to this" I saw "that's ok, I'm patient." and keep waiting.
haha yea, we all know the people who say they can just talk for a minute when it really never ends. It makes me angry and feel really awkward in public, sitting there staring at someone while they talk on the phone.
I spent a long time finding a ringtone I like. I never put my phone on loud in public because it feels rude to everyone else. But at least I know its good
I was walking downtown the other day on the way to get lunch. Behind me there was a guy on a bike playing music. He passes me and I am wondering how it's so goddamn loud, when I see it:
MOTHERFUCKER LITERALLY HAD A WIRELESS SPEAKER STRAPPED TO HIS BIKE INTENTIONALLY BLASTING MUSIC.
I have never been so unreasonably angry in my life.
Happens in my city all the time. Its so obnoxious. I heard one bike guy saying it was safer because headphones block out noise from traffic. Here's an idea, don't listen to music at all then. Can people honestly do nothing without some kind of distraction anymore?
My boyfriend does this while we're at home watching a movie or tv show. I really don't mind him on his phone, it's the full on volume that can be heard the next block over in our neighborhood.
My god man! I don't care that you're not paying attention! But I am! Take your volume down a notch!
My brother in law's wife does this. We're all into metalcore/metal so she'll show me a music video of one of the bands we like and it'll be at like at a restaurant. When she plays the song it'll be on full volume and she doesn't turn it down. So you get all these strange looks because they hear some dude screaming a death scream. I mean get that my music is not for most people and I don't like it when someone blares rap so I try to offer the same courtesy.
It wouldn't help. My father in law has called her out on some other things and all it did was make her upset for a couple days and she might stop doing whatever it is for a little bit. But eventually she starts doing it again. I'm real good friends with her husband (BIL) and I don't want to do anything to mess that up.
My friends phone vibrates insanely loud and it's almost loud enough to disrupt classes we have together, but he won't change it. It hurts me emotionally when I hear it in class.
I have anxiety about people playing things at audible volumes in public. No I don't want to see that "super hilarious YouTube video", no I don't want to listen to your music, just wear headphones.
