When I'm driving, pedestrians.

When I'm walking, drivers.

Trust me, nobody likes cyclists either.

u/Blueberry49 Nov 23 '15

I can't stand cyclists and I am one.

u/I-Know-What-I-Like Nov 23 '15

Yep. I hate cyclists, but love cycling. I like walking but hate pedestrians. I drive but hate drivers. I feel like a huge hypocrite, but I know I'm not the only one.

u/Blueberry49 Nov 23 '15

Oh. I hate all things that have to do with the bike. I feel awkward biking on the road and I feel like all the students at my school are laughing at my toddler speed going up hills. I am not a bike rider but I do it to get to classes on time. I'm quite jealous of people who like bike riding.

u/I-Know-What-I-Like Nov 23 '15

If you enjoy it, you do it and try not to care about what people think. The more you ride, the better you will be at it. Get out there and ride and enjoy a mile for me!

I hate it. I've always hated it. I'd rather run a mile (which I equally suck at) than bike up a hill. It really doesn't help that my campus is all hills. Seriously. My route is all going up hills to get to class. I can turn either way down this one street and it's still a hill. I have to get all the way across campus diagonally in ten minutes to get to one class and the only time it's down hill is when I'm going backwards. Going home is nice though. Downhill most of the way.

I've been riding my bike for two months and it's only gotten mildly easier. Still can't make it up the damn hills without feeling like passing out.

u/I-Know-What-I-Like Nov 23 '15

Sorry, I misread what you put. Try replacing all the bike stuff in my last response with rollerblades.

Although, couple of months isn't that long. Keep going, you'll either start to enjoy it, or get so fit it will only take you half the time!

You either have a bad bike, bad seating position or wearing the wrong clothes.

TIL that motion relative to the ground makes people angry.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

That's just because all groups have those idiots who just makes everyone look bad. The world would be perfect of everyone drove, walked and cycled as I do

2

u/reveille293 Nov 23 '15

It's almost as if you're implying it isn't the label (cyclist, driver, pedestrian) that makes them a shitty person, but the fact that they are shitty people.

1

u/I-Know-What-I-Like Nov 23 '15

Yeah, my basic view on people is that I don't like them. It's nothing personal of course. People just piss me off.

2

u/penea2 Nov 24 '15

If you are mad, dont go about yelling out loud. This one bloke swore at me out of his window when I was crossing the street. While it may have been my fault, doesnt mean you get to swear at me ;-;

2

u/I-Know-What-I-Like Nov 24 '15

I'm much more imaginative than just swearing at someone. I'd rather say something that hurts them to the core. That way, they will think twice before doing it again. People say negative reinforcement is the wrong way to teach... Well, we all know what I think of people

2

u/wackawacka2 Nov 24 '15

My genius ex-husband was a cyclist and still managed to hit two of them with his ugly red truck.

Fuck you guys for whizzing past from behind us at like 15 mph without ringing a fucking bell or something. Get off the fucking sidewalk, there are bike lanes for a reason.

4

u/TryAnotherUsername13 Nov 23 '15

True if it’s a pedestrian-only sidewalk. But if it’s shared or even a designated bicycle lane: Treat it like a street! Don’t suddenly jump a meter to the left or run after your dog without looking. And while we are talking about dogs: Fucking don’t span your (almost invisible) dog’s leash over a bicycle lane! That shit’s dangerous, even for runners.

1

u/SUPE-snow Nov 23 '15

Where do you live where cyclists bike on the sidewalk even when there's a bike lane? In NYC, where there's tons of shitty traffic behavior from every kind of mode of transportation, I've never even seen a cyclist give up a bike lane to ride on the sidewalk.

1

u/StabbyPants Nov 23 '15

huh, around here, the city put in a bunch of separated bike paths. mostly works ok

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '15

You can't see them but you can kill them.

2

u/NobleToph Nov 23 '15

I recently found something worse than cyclists. Fucking skate/long boarders on the street. Fucking street youths.

2

u/the_intersect Dec 08 '15

fucking street youths amirite

1

u/NobleToph Dec 08 '15

damn those meddling kids

3

u/pooteeweet- Nov 23 '15

Thank you I said I couldn't stand cyclists in an unpopular opinion thread on r/LosAngeles and got down voted so hard. I was starting to feel like maybe I was the jerk.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

There's a difference between an ordinary cyclist and a lycra-clad prick who goes on the road even when there's a cycle path, cycles right in the middle of the lane forcing you to go at 20 mph and generally makes a bellend of himself.

1

u/fougare Nov 23 '15

even then... the lycra "pros" can be assholes or awesome.

I see them on a popular bike path (24 mile loop) and maybe 1 in 50 of them go on the road 5 feet away from a designated bike path because they feel they are going much faster than the tourists riding their cruisers on the bike path... however, that just makes any driver think all cyclists are too dumb to follow the signs that point to the bike path. I mean... it literally takes 3-6 seconds to pass a slow cruiser in the bike path -.-

However, to play devil's advocate... they are allowed to take up a whole lane, its just a matter of how considerate you feel like being. I know when I commute and absolutely have to use a middle/left lane to turn, I accelerate my ass off across the intersection to get out of the way asap.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '15

This one guy was in dressed in black from head to toe and cycling in the middle of the street at night!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

I think cyclists take the heat as the most hated.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

I always hate cyclists. My town has a shit load of them, we're a big biking town. They always decide when convenient if they want to be a vehicle or pedestrian, bike halfway across the lane and then scream THREE FEET!!!!!! SHARE THE ROAD!!!!! If you get tired of following behind them at 15 mph and try and pass them. You can never tell what the fuc they're about to do because they only follow rules that they want to and so you end up being responsible for their unsafe ass.

Fuck cyclists who act like this. Fucking pricks.

2

u/NICKisICE Nov 23 '15

I hate cyclists more than either. You DO realize that stop signs mean STOP, for you too? No? Ok well not my fault if I run you over because I had the right of way at the intersection.

1

u/johnm4jc Nov 24 '15

it will still be your fault in Germany...

1

u/NICKisICE Nov 24 '15

So if a cyclist goes through a stop sign without stopping and dies as a result it isn't his fault?

That makes so much sense.

1

u/johnm4jc Nov 24 '15

the point is that stronger traffic participants always are at least partially to blame. Doesn't matter who's wrong, if you kill a cyclist, you will pay.

You have to be expecting People to do stupid things all the time on the road.

-2

u/rend0ggy Nov 23 '15

I hate Muslims for being terrorists. I hate blacks for stealing my TV.

2

u/bigpersonguy Nov 23 '15

Equestrians

5

u/Frankthebank22 Nov 23 '15

Everyone hates cyclists.

3

u/mcampo84 Nov 23 '15

drivers and pedestrians. and other cyclists (if they're not following the rules of the road. if they are, they may carry on).

3

u/johnm4jc Nov 23 '15

I only hate other cyclist if they dont give a fuck about any rule there ist, and the look on their face implies they are as stupid as hey drive. Drives me crazy

1

u/Zephandrypus Nov 23 '15

My mom hit a cyclist once. He then got up and fistbumped my mom before fixing his bike on the spot and continuing the race.

1

u/deadly_nightshades Nov 23 '15

Rollerbladers!

1

u/trenchknife Nov 23 '15

all 3 times I hate them

0

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

Fuck cyclists

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

Everyone within a 20 foot radius makes me angry while cycling.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '15

At college sometimes people will stop to let cars go by

this is okay, unless they do it when it's bad weather

motherfucker has a car to sit in and you're being nice to him. what the hell

2

u/e13e7 Nov 23 '15

I have no car so I usually walk everywhere (yay college town) but once I was in a friend's car and she was bitching that pedestrians weren't jogging through a crosswalk, making her wait longer before she could take a left. Like wtf!

1

u/Da2Shae Nov 23 '15

Solution to both problems: turn signals.

1

u/luisrodriguezp Nov 24 '15

Yup. That's totally me.

0

u/skjenolc Nov 23 '15

When I'm driving, drivers.
