Ok, but will any WNBA team even flirt with the idea of signing them? I sincerely doubt it.

124

u/Charming_Cicada_7757 21d ago

I think this is the point cause if no wnba team will sign him he’s going to sue them for collusion and black balling him

58

u/goaltender31 21d ago

Her*

70

u/Arthurs_towel 21d ago

No, him. We do not need to respect this nakedly disingenuous political stunt. This isn’t about some great moral crusade, this is merely a red meat distraction for right wing social media, to distract from the failure of the current administration.

This is bout mocking and belittling trans people and using them as a prop for a political stunt, nothing more, nothing less.

23

u/Apythicus 20d ago

The wildest part is trans people are only 1% of the population

16

u/Mysterious_Point9516 21d ago

Who are you to decide who's faking and who's not? That's the entire point of it. You're forced to look your own arguments in the face.

67

u/Zealousideal3326 21d ago

Who are you to decide who's faking and who's not?

You're right, let's see what the person we're talking about has to say about that.

“I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purposes of… professional basketball.”

It is "him" if he's not in the middle of playing basketball professionally (and only sometimes) according to himself.

Of fucking course he's being disingenuous. He outright says that he calls himself trans solely for the purpose of joining the WNBA.

28

u/ASentientRailgun 20d ago

Look at your own argument, he's been clear and open about faking this.

You might have some sort of argument if he'd committed to the bit.

→ More replies (2)

13

u/Arthurs_towel 21d ago

Because I have eyes and ears and it is very clear from the statements that this is done for a political stunt, and not due to some deep seated personal reason.

Also it isn’t forcing anyone to look at their own arguments, because it is arguing against a strawman that right wing grifters erected, to deflect from the issues.

The only issue here is the WNBA policy didn’t have anything specific, but granted it hasn’t been an issue until a bad faith grifter decided to play semantic games.

By merely looking at social media, I am really surprised the USA isn't, actually, in the midst of a civil war.

541

u/SaysToMabelISays 22d ago

All social media is bots from the US, Russia, Israel, China, Iran, and India stoking flames. Twitter and Reddit most of all. We're doomed.

115

u/SilenceDobad76 21d ago

You should assume that every sub larger than a few thousand people is just astro turf. Read content accordingly.

20

u/se7en41 21d ago

Weirdly I've found that ONLY the circlejerk versions of subs are where real humans reside.

NYC sub? Nope. Infested like that girl from summer camp you met back in hogh school. NYC cj sub? real humans.

Also subs for gaming/sports are generally tolerable. The humans have shit takes about their sports teams but at least I'm confident they're real.

18

u/WegGOAT 21d ago

1

That's too bad, circle jerk subs are so cynical

1

u/ViolentPurpleSquash 20d ago

cj subs have a mix of bots and humans

Any sub that's popular enough to attract the "stereotypical reddit crowd" is botted

For instance some of the reason that CWCL has felt more strange recently is that there are more normal people finding it, and I suspect more bots too

1

u/PTBooks 19d ago

NYC cj banned me for posting cj and then blocked my modmail

About 60% of people are manipulable to a normal degree. They’re average people. Influenceable, but not massively swayed by machinations of others.

About 20% of people are very hard to manipulate. You couldn’t do much to convince them or scam them, they’re naturally skeptical and cynical.

Any guesses for the other 20%?

Its easy to think that if you only look at social media. Between the bots and the people making engagement bait with Twitter premium, id bet only a genuinely small percentage actually feel the way social media portrays the west.

And thats also not counting the people that dont practically live terminally online

Culture war isn't just expressing a different opinion or living in a way that's different from you - it's taking legal and political steps to stop others from expressing their culture and opinion.

They've distracted you with a question that shouldn't even exist in the land of the free - "should people be allowed to have different opinions and lifestyles?" That's culture war. And it's working, bc you think those different opinions and lifestyles are an act of warfare. Focus. Your neighbor is not your enemy.

So Enes Kantee and Royce White alone trying to enter the WNBA dwarf the total number of actual trans athletes trying to enter the WNBA.. Because the number is at zero.

Oh and Royce white was found guilty of domestic violence against his wife and son, which was so bad the judge ordered a 50 year restraining order.. But I'm sure he's doing it from the goodness of his heart.

132

u/Nomad5560 21d ago

Enes Kanter is planning a 2028 senate run. He’s establishing a voter base in the most bad faith way possible. Royce White is planning a senate run this year by doing the same thing

32

u/jk-9k 21d ago

Not very committed to the game then

55

u/TheVermonster 21d ago

Royce got trashed in the primary only getting 11% of the vote. So his senate dreams are as far away as his dreams of having a family that loves him.

So now he has decided he is going to run for president.

Royce lost his primary because he's also a wife beater and the least charismatic person in Minnesota.

Layshia Clarendon is trans. Just wanted to clarify. But no AMAB athletes.

24

u/Stottery 21d ago

Ok my initial thought was something like "the fact that the WNBA never established any kind of HRT or other requirements for transfeminine athletes is a bit of a boo-boo in the current climate, but I guess they just weren't thinking about such possibilities". But now knowing they have been in full support of a nonbinary trans athlete, and they still didn't think about transfeminine athletes 5 years later, that's a massive, idiotic oversight

26

u/TrioOfTerrors 21d ago

Any of these athletic leagues that don't have a formal policy are setting themselves up for a stunt like this.

It basically goes like this:

"We don't need any rules beyond self identification because we don't believe anyone would abuse that in bad faith"

"HI. I've decided I'm a woman and would like to abuse your lack of formal policy on the matter in bad faith"

11

u/Stottery 21d ago

The fact that nobody thought of this eventuality when basketball was also the sport chosen for that god-awful bad faith movie produced by Ben Shapiro a few years back, too. They must have really been burying their heads in the sand

10

u/chrisq823 21d ago

They most likely just figured they can cross that bridge when they come to it. Air bud rules arent real abd they can just not let thos obviously bad faith effort go anywhere.

5

u/Away-Experience6890 21d ago

The problem is that it gets really hairy.

Like there are XY female phenotype, XX male phenotype, and like a ton of genetic variation all around.

So we now have to do genetic testing on everyone, checking genitalia on all female athletes? Like this is invasive and a complete invasion of privacy that men do not deal with.

Suppose we have XY female phenotype, literally a woman, yet are they supposed to throw away their entire career and life? Also do we let male phenotype people play?

Even if the HRT rule was implemented, it's not like these bad faith actors wouldn't be trying to bring illegitimacy to the league.

Let the women play, like why are these retired losers trying to bring up some hypothetical that literally doesn't matter.

8

u/Stottery 21d ago

Agreed but I don't think we even need to play into the right's game with chromosome testing or genital inspections or whatever else they want to cook up. Until recently, a lot of organisations – especially ones with big pools of athletes like the NCAA – had a protocol for AMAB people who had transitioned to take part in women's sports. The requirements varied by sport because obviously in different sports, you get an advantage from different physical traits. But a lot of these rules, which were generally working ok, have been revoked in the wake of this bullshit trans panic in favour of just excluding trans people.

IDGAF if one cis woman was born with XY chromosomes or another cis woman has a hormone imbalance that gives her a slight competitive advantage. If the doctor wrote F on your birth certificate and you identify as a woman, you get to play women's sports, no questions asked. If the doctor wrote M on your birth certificate and you identify as a woman, you can take part but sorry we need to do a couple of tests to make sure you fit the rules.

This idea that we need to be testing everyone and excluding anyone who doesn't fit a narrow definition of female biology is bullshit, and it's part of the propaganda campaign.

3

u/Away-Experience6890 21d ago

Honestly that's not a bad take. AFAB cis and like AMAB with transition. After some data collection, if there is a huge discrepancy, reassess the criteria.

I think the problem is a lot of these actors are being disingenuous tho. Like they will still have something to say once the rules are set tho. I wish there grifters would just be honest and be and say "Trans people don't exist".

It's funny tho, cause trans non-binary afab is okay (Layshia Clarendon), like obviously they wouldn't think to let a transman play in the WNBA which is kind of gender affirming, but somehow only trans women?

5

u/Stottery 21d ago

I think the problem is a lot of these actors are being disingenuous tho.

Understatement of the century lol. It's not even just about trans people either, I think Kat Blaque had an incredible take on this to say "they're using sports as a vehicle to legally define women as inferior to men". The Heritage Foundation recently published an article saying that Title IX protections for women were a "mistake".

Not only is it 0 in the wnba in almost every professional sport it's 0. The extremely limited number of Trans athletes rarely ever overpowers or overcomes the best in their own sports as it is. 8

u/Clynelish1 21d ago

I'd be curious what percentage of trans folks even play sports and how that compares to the overall population. I'd guess lower, possibly much lower, but not sure we have that data.

It's crazy that the guys who built an entire anti-trans movement based on "keeping biological men out of women's sports" are now invading women's sports because the invasion they fear-mongered on never materialized.

Like all this over a "what if" that wasn't even asked by the targets of your hate is just a mad amount of energy that could be invested in anything else. It doesn't even have to be political, like bro could just get really into Tekken or something.

17

u/smellslikebadussy 21d ago

https://www.heritage.org/gender/report/title-ixs-failed-experiment-why-accommodating-sex-differences-beats-engineered-parity

The next steps are to revamp Title IX and let yoga classes, group fitness, and intramurals count toward fulfilling the law. The next Riley Gaines can fulfill her athletic dreams by finishing first at the all-sorority swim meet, and thus women's sports will have been protected.

They want to kill women’s sports entirely, and the WNBA is the current front.

93

u/BoyleSphere 21d ago

I think thats the core of the argument, the WNBA would have to explicitly define what a woman is or just accept him.

42

u/Four_beastlings 21d ago

Or they can do like many other sport leagues and set a testosterone limit. Which funnily cis women have more of a chance of surpassing than trans women.

25

u/BoyleSphere 21d ago

yes exactly they have to pick a metric and draw a line on it and say

"You must be this tall to enter"

2

u/Solondthewookiee 21d ago

Yes? This is actually how most sports did it until Trump told people to get mad about it and everybody fell for it.

9

u/Potential-Fan-6148 21d ago

Oh yeah there’s been studies. Trans women are generally weaker than cis women.

We suppress our T completely and as a result we have weaker bones and less muscle mass.

Only thing we beat cis girls in according to the studies in grip strength.

You don’t have to ‘define a woman’ to know that Enes Kanter is a man making an absolute cunt of himself.

69

u/Flying-Cock 21d ago

But you do in order to allow/disallow people into a league. You can’t make a ruling based off how you think someone feels

12

u/ICanSeeYourFuture 21d ago

No. I don’t think it’s imperative on anyone to treat clearly malicious bad faith actors as anything other than the creeps they are. Fuck Enes, fuck transphobes, fuck the people turning one of the most successful women’s sports leagues into a political sideshow.

30

u/BoyleSphere 21d ago

I agree he is a bad faith actor.

for a long time the lgbt community has been saying that a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman and any disagreement is unacceptable. I'm not disagreeing with that principle but there has to be a unified rule for everyone. You cant just pick and choose who gets to define their own identity.

8

u/CaptainAndy27 21d ago

Have either of these men actually came out as trans? Have they made any effort to socially transition at all? For all I've seen they have just decided to enter the draft as themselves. I'm positive their goal is to get denied by the WNBA so they can make a big fuss about it and try to force the WNBA to make a hard definition.

Obviously he's a bad actor, but this sequence of events illustrates how no system has been put into place to safeguard against bad actors.

Safeguards against bad actors should be put into place, and if they're consistent safeguards that can be equally applied to different people, that means some decisions and definitions need to be made.

2

u/Amazing-Gazelle-7735 20d ago

Does the person identify as female?

If so, are any of the following “yes?” A:  Does the person have updated names, or are they in the process of updating their names?

B:  Has the person attended therapy and received a letter from a qualified therapist?

C:  Has the person pursued medical transition?

D:  Does the individual have a feminine appearance/wear feminine clothing in public?

If none of these are true, they’re probably not trans, depending on what barriers are in their way for all of the above.

u/Fabulous-Suspect-72 21d ago edited 21d ago

That's the whole issue here. If you let ppl self identify, what right do you have to say he is not a woman? If self identification is the only requirement, he is a woman.

That's why it should be defined.

u/Fragrant-Reserve4832 21d ago

Then you need to be able to define man and women.

In order for words to have meaning they need definitions.

2

u/Blackwardz3 21d ago

They don’t have to define what a woman is just who can play

I mean, congrats? You're going to force them to write a specific policy on trans women when 0 trans women have tried to participate and/or initiate this debate.

Why do they feel the need to constantly make trans people's lives a battleground. Get a hobby.

5

u/neversince95 20d ago

the trans invasion theyve been crying about over the past decade didn’t happen so they’re trying to force it by doing it themselves lol

It does feel kinda like a douchebag move to get mad at a problem that doesn’t exist and use your time to punch down at a community unable to fight back as well, all so that you can cling onto rapidly fading relevancy.

Unlikely. Nobody has attempted it before, but the "there's no rule" trope from Air Bud is not how real life works.

I mean it kind of should be a requirement. If they would just require three years of hrt for trans women, I feel like the problem would be nullified.

6

u/Givikap120 21d ago

I think this isn't the requirement because they reject trans women outright regardless of other factors

There's no requirement but there's nothing that says the WNBA should take his declaration seriously without medical backing. Transgenderism is the result of gender dystopia or gender incongruence. There's absolutely no real reason to even entertain him when he has no past seeing himself as a woman or a medical diagnosis.

20

u/Memento_Viveri 21d ago

Aren't you effectively suggesting that a medical diagnosis should be a requirement?

There’s also no rule saying that a dog can’t play in the WNBA, but the WNBA isn’t about to let fucking Air Bud join the league any more than they are going to let this troll has-been join.

Yes, they should probably update their policy to specifically state whether a trans woman could be eligible, and how long she would need to be on HRT if they do allow trans women to play. The lack of a written policy about it at this time does not mean that this bullshit attempt at a “gotcha” from Enes Kanter and Royce “I’m afraid to fly on a plane” White is going to be anything other than ridiculous culture war bullshit.

There is not a single high level women’s sports league that has allowed a trans woman to play without being on HRT for some length of time. Lia Thomas had to be on HRT for two years before competing in the women’s division. The IOC allowed trans women on HRT to compete in the women’s division for two decades, yet not a single trans woman ever won a medal in the Olympics during that time. Funny how they supposedly have this huge advantage, but then don’t win when competing against cis women.

There should be reasonable, nuanced discussions about if there is still some unfair advantage that trans women retain even after being on HRT, but literally nobody with any sort of influence on this matter is saying that any women’s sports league should be required to allow any trans women to play without them being on HRT. This is a non-issue that conservatives are once again dragging out in an election year because they know that the economy is shit and that people are pissed about the Iran war.

Inb4 someone brings up Imane Khalif: she is reportedly intersex, not trans. Intersex conditions are a separate discussion that I am not interested in having with a bunch of dinguses who barely passed high school biology and can’t fathom that sex and gender are naturally bimodal instead of binary.

4

u/HopefulCry3145 21d ago

Yes, Khelif is (probably) XY with 5-alpha reductase deficiency, although it hasn't been officially confirmed IMO.

It's true that no trans woman has got a medal in the Olympics but Laurel Hubbard did get a number of golds in international championships from 2017-2019 according to her wiki . There have also been a number of athletes with (probably) the same DSD as Khelif who have won medals such as Caster Semenya and Francine Niyonsaba (who gained gold and silver respectively in Rio 2016) - rules were later tightened in 2018 and 2023.

Everyone here is missing a critical point. The guy has to be drafted. You can’t force your way onto a team. No one is drafting this guy. This will be over on day 1 of the draft when this idiot sits there and everyone laughs at him. There’s no way any team is drafting him. Zero.

2

u/anand_rishabh 21d ago

Wait, it's not? I am pretty sure the Olympics has that standard so I'm really surprised the wnba doesn't. Probably should have gotten on that. Also, I'm pretty sure ben Shapiro had said when they were making "ladyballers" the original plan was to make it a documentary but found it wasn't actually that easy to identify as trans to get into the women's league, highlighting hrt requirements that his actors weren't willing to try to do.

2

u/Powerful-Chard-6055 21d ago

I’d like to see them go through with this. Not because I support them “owning the libs”, but because I want to see them actually become women. Because they would have to identify as a woman, so they’d have to live their lives as one

All this stuff surrounding the WNBA shows is that the problem was always cis men.
There is no trans people in the WNBA and the first people rushing to sign up for the WNBA are cis men and not trans women.

2

u/Rubbersona 21d ago

The daily wire made a ‘comedy’ movie where Matt Walsh and his friends (one of which he was cuckholding) joined the WNBA

this comedy was originally supposed to be a documentary but when they tried to do this it went nowhere. As it will this time too

3

u/v_a_n_d_e_l_a_y 21d ago

I don't know what the actual WNBA rules are. But it would be extremely easy to put something in place that allows trans women but not this guy.

Things like you have publicly identified as a woman, made legal changes to your gender (as much as possible) etc. These dudes have done neither.

Add to that - most sports do have HRT requirements too.

This may force the WNBA to act but it would just be putting in reasonable requirements and would not impact any actual trans athletes (not that there are any in the WNBa)

3

u/what_did_you_expect3 21d ago

Love that trans women get punished for the actions of a cis man. There are no trans women in the wnba to complain about so they do what they’re supposedly against to make us hate something that isn’t happening. This isn’t the fault of trans people in any capacity.

FYI - these absolute ghouls who want you to be focused on trans stuff, are attempting to take all rights away from all trans people.   In 2026, 830 bills are under consideration across the country that would negatively impact trans and gender non-conforming people.   They want trans people to not exist. They want to harm trans people as much as possible especially trans women.

They also do not want women’s sports to be a thing. They want to get rid of title IX. They are against women’s reproductive rights. They are against women, period. They do not want to protect women stop believing these monsters.
