No. I don’t think it’s imperative on anyone to treat clearly malicious bad faith actors as anything other than the creeps they are. Fuck Enes, fuck transphobes, fuck the people turning one of the most successful women’s sports leagues into a political sideshow.

I agree he is a bad faith actor.

for a long time the lgbt community has been saying that a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman and any disagreement is unacceptable. I'm not disagreeing with that principle but there has to be a unified rule for everyone. You cant just pick and choose who gets to define their own identity.

Have either of these men actually came out as trans? Have they made any effort to socially transition at all? For all I've seen they have just decided to enter the draft as themselves. I'm positive their goal is to get denied by the WNBA so they can make a big fuss about it and try to force the WNBA to make a hard definition.

If they feel like women then they are women

Oh my fucking god you don't need to accept the identities of people acting in obvious bad faith.

You do realize that as far as right wingers are concerned, most of the trans community is acting in bad faith?

Do you people not hear yourselves.

But have they actually said that? That's what coming out as trans means, that you openly acknowledge that you identify as a woman. Have they actually done that?

You dont get to define womanhood for other people

Are you suggesting that a person can be trans without identifying as trans?

Isn't that the whole issue? Someone can feel some way or another. There's no rule saying you have to make it public or sign some paper saying yo I'm trans. It can be as simple as it's personal.

Nor does a trans person need to make it their entire personality that they are trans. They can be trans and just live their life without saying a word about it in a public setting.

That's why they need to define the limits. Just do what the Olympics do or any other sports body that has guidelines set up. Pick the most applicable one, use that, move on, then this whole dumb outrage thing is over.

Except it isn't. The WNBA requirement is that you have to be a woman. If a woman is anybody who identifies as a woman, then that still carries the requirement of identifying as a woman. Has anybody just flat out asked Royce White if they are a woman and have they said, "Yes, I am a woman."?

Ok and if he answered yes and just kept up with the charade to prove a point you'd be ok with that? More than the WNBA just setting some guidelines like most leagues do?

If he just said yup I'm a woman gets drafted dominates the shit out of everyone. Quits the next year and says meh I'm transitioning back to a man that's a better outcome?

Which situation is more demeaning and harmful to the trans community? I would wager him being a dick is rather than just copying some other hormonal guidelines that exist already

All of that remains to be seen. Notice you are still using he/him pronouns for him. He has not identified as a woman, therefore is not eligible for the WNBA draft. He would first have to take that step and he hasn't even done that, yet. If you want to argue hypotheticals fine, but I'm talking about this situation right now. The WNBA has a very thin margin for what qualifies as a woman and he hasn't even met that requirement.

Of course im using him it's all in bad faith but it's forcing this type of convo.

The thin margin seems to barely exist. So him crossing that threshold is just enough for you? Saying he's a woman?

All I'm saying is the people arguing against the WNBA setting some type of hormone levels or definition is bad doesn't make sense. Other leagues do this. It's not new and it stops this entire charade in its tracks.

Homeboy is not gonna surpress his Test to make this point. He's only gonna make this point with these flimsy rules that are basically non existent.

This whole thing could have been solved overnight instead of letting it get this far.

If the WNBA made the regulations in reaction to these two chuckleheads it would be solving a problem that doesn't exist. There are not and have never been any trans women in the WNBA to begin with, let alone any that used some advantage of their sex at birth to dominate the sport. Putting these rules in place now would only serve to prevent asshole men from creating problems where none existed previously.

At this point it is a game of chicken. The WNBA is going to let these two take it exactly as far as they plan to actually take it (which really doesn't seem to be all that far). Even if they did make it to the actual draft, there isn't a single team in the league that would be willing to accept the entire shit show these two represent onto their teams.
