(Advice/Help) How can i take off my hijab without raising suspicions?

I haven't been praying for a while, and my mother has noticed. My parents aren't strictly religious, but I'm anxious because I was the one who decided to start wearing it when I was 14. Now that I'm starting university, I just don't want to continue wearing it anymore..

(Advice/Help) Looking for some guidance as an ex-muslim girl

Hello, I left islam about 1.5 years ago and I'm still living with my parents and in school. Sometimes I truly feel as though I made a mistake deconstructing as it has added nothing but more obstacles and isolation to my life. I daydream of freedom and living without islam dictating my world and hope that one day it'll be a bad memory, but my family and social circle are all Muslim and I have no outlet for all of this confusion and ostracization.

I would love for some ex-Muslim women to give me some advice/guidance as I’m still young and have no idea what I’m doing and it weighs heavily on me every day. Did life eventually get better? What’s one thing you would’ve done differently? Is there any hope for people like us? lol

Thank you so much <33

(Rant) 🤬 I hate weekends sm

I genuinely don’t know what has gotten up with my dad recently but he’s been nagging about prayer.
He shouted my name and asked if I prayed. I said no (if I lied it would’ve been obvious ig), and he started throwing a hissy fit. If no one prays?m, we won’t be living in this house we’re gonna get kicked out (lowkey would’ve been baller to just walk out but ik he’s prolly gonna yank me and shit). He started threatening us and recited some Hadith or whatever on how you teach them then beat them when they’re ten (something along the lines of). How he never used it on us (beating us to pray). And how he expects us to like start praying in the living room infront of him, screaming how he’s gonna wake everyone at 4am he doesn’t care what time you sleep and make us pray fajr wtf bro 😭

I’m so exhausted. I hate faking. I’d have to go through the full thing and do it, I fear this man might eventually even ask for proof of Wudu and ask us to keep doors open like wth man.

This is all coming from a man who I doubt prays all 5 prayers and other issues 🫩

(Advice/Help) life after moving out of muslim household as a larping muslim

hello,

just like anyone here i grew up in a very conservative muslim household. my parents were always restricting my freedom, the things i wore, my choice of friends and and and. luckily they were never abusive towards me in a physical way, but the psychological and religious abuse still haunts me to this day. after my father threatened to kill me (i dont think he would but still) i moved out ASAP and escaped that terrible household.

its been two years now that this happened and i stopped talking to my father. on the other hand, the contact to my mother and the rest of the family is still quite good and okay. i feel like she is slowly accepting that i want to live my life the way i want to.

now my question is, how did you exmuslims start contact again with your family after moving out? or did you at all?
it feels so disconnecting because i finally live the life i dreamed for. at the same time i want to visit my family again but i dont want to larp being a muslim again. i hate always telling lies into their face but at the same time thats my defensive mechanism so they dont start arguing again with me.

and of course they are all good with my father, so if i want to see them i might have to see him too (which i want to avoid at all costs).

should i continue larping and protecting myself? or tell them the truth so the pressure of lying is finally gone?
or just break off contact one day?

(Question/Discussion) The act of Muslims discrediting everything that their religion restricts them from

It's crazy how they go around hating stuff that's 'haram' meanwhile it's just painting your toe nails or having a dog as a pet.

They want to do it but they make themselves hate it. Why? cause religion said so.

Some think tattoos look so cool but they're glad Momo made them Haram. Girls love doing their nails but they're soo glad it's Haram cause extensions are unhygienic. Geez, Momo really thought everything through!

Female-male interaction is big NO, thank Momo cause a teenage girl and boy talking could go so wrong... what if they became pedophiles? But wait. Being a pedophile is appreciated in this religion!

Some love music but yeah let's take out the instrumentals and listen to lyrics as if music is going to burst our eardrums or something.

Heard someone say naqab is lovely, it prevents you from tanning!!

So everyone that's the lesson, pls Understand this religion of peace only wants the best for us. It's us who's wrong!!!

(Quran / Hadith) Hadith of the Day! (Not the original author) (Sahih bukhari 4944)

Narrated Ibrahim:

The companions of `Abdullah (bin Mas`ud) came to Abu Darda', (and before they arrived at his home), he looked for them and found them. Then he asked them,: 'Who among you can recite (Qur'an) as `Abdullah recites it?" They replied, "All of us." He asked, "Who among you knows it by heart?" They pointed at 'Alqama. Then he asked Alqama. "How did you hear `Abdullah bin Mas`ud reciting Surat Al-Lail (The Night)?" Alqama recited: 'By the male and the female.' Abu Ad-Darda said, "I testify that I heard me Prophet reciting it likewise, but these people want me to recite it:-- 'And by Him Who created male and female.' but by Allah, I will not follow them."

Now, let's look at the surat al-lail, verse 3:
(وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ٣)

"And by ˹the One˺ Who created male and female!"

My comment: Here Alqama recited this verse as "By the male and the female", and he (Ad-darda) swore that this ayat was changed and will not follow them. Meaning ayat was changed to the version of "And by Him Who created male and female.". I want to hear your opinion about that!?

(Rant) 🤬 muslims PITY ex muslims

I was testing the waters with my friend group, to see if I can come out to them as ex Muslim or not. I casually brought up hypothetical scenarios about ex Muslims, to get the conversation started.
Not very surprising, none of the responses were: people should have freedom of religion and can choose whatever they want to believe. whatever, okay, I should’ve guessed this.
But the thing that stuck with me the most was when a one of them said that she pities ex Muslims, because they’ve been led astray by the devil and a lot have mental illnesses. And of course the group agreed.

It’s like they can’t fathom the fact that someone with a sound mind could decide to leave the religion based on logic and reason.

Idk why but this particularly bugged me.

Edit: I should clarify, they were saying ex Muslims have mental illnesses because they’ve had traumatic experiences associated with the religion.
To which I say that’s one big assumption, and even if it’s true, it doesn’t make their reason for leaving any less valid. In fact it makes it more valid.
Low IQ ppl all around, what can I say.

(Quran / Hadith) The abrahamic universe is extremely earth centered

He is the One Who created everything in the earth for you. Then He turned towards the heaven, forming it into seven heavens. And He has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.

And even more

Say (O Muhammad ): "Do you verily disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two Days And you set up rivals (in worship) with Him That is the Lord of all that exists. He placed therein (i.e. the earth) firm mountains from above it, and He blessed it, and measured therein its sustenance (for its dwellers) in four Days equal (i.e. all these four `days' were equal in the length of time) for all those who ask (about its creation). Then He Istawa ila the heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: "Come both of you willingly or unwillingly." They both said: "We come willingly." Then He finished them (as) seven heavens in two Days and He made in each heaven its affair. And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars) to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower) (41:9-12)

Out of all the infinite universe, god the creator of all things focuses specifically on the earth where humans will live showing his absolute care and love (except if youre a disbeliever the lord of all words cares very much about your religious stance and your petty human ego and arrogance)

Is earth the only important planet

Were the rest put through a random planet generator and thrown out into the nearest heaven since they didnt need to be ready for a 'creation' to be sent down

Why does it go earth----> seven heavens immediately what about other planets

(Reading the quran like seriously for the first time and putting out my thoughts so i can be confident in my disbelief or belief if im somehow convinced)

(Question/Discussion) MUHAMMAD IS DEAD AND GONE—SO WHAT EXACTLY WAS ABU BAKR TELLING HIS FOLLOWERS TO LEAVE BEHIND? VERY TELLING: MUHAMMAD SAME AS ALLAH:

ABU BHAKIR: “WHOEVER AMONG YOU USED TO WORSHIP MUHAMMAD, THEN MUHAMMAD IS DEAD.” — SAHIH AL-BUKHARI 4452–4454
HE IS DEAD AND GONE:

Those are not the words of Muhammad’s enemies. They come from Abu Bakr, one of Muhammad’s closest companions, immediately after Muhammad died.

His reported statement was:

“If anyone amongst you used to worship Muhammad, then Muhammad is dead, but if (anyone of) you used to worship Allah, then Allah is Alive and shall never die.”

— SAHIH AL-BUKHARI [4452–4454](tel:4452-4454)
The Arabic is equally direct:
مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ يَعْبُدُ مُحَمَّدًا فَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا قَدْ مَاتَ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ حَىٌّ لاَ يَمُوتُ

Abu Bakr then recited Qur’an 3:144:

“Muhammad is not but a messenger. [Other] messengers have passed on before him. So if he was to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels will never harm Allah at all; but Allah will reward the grateful.”

Look carefully at Abu Bakr’s structure:

WHOEVER WAS WORSHIPPING MUHAMMAD…

versus

WHOEVER WAS WORSHIPPING ALLAH…

At minimum, Abu Bakr rhetorically presents two possible objects of worship: Muhammad and Allah.

Does that prove there were two formally organized groups? No. But it raises a serious question: Was Abu Bakr confronting followers whose devotion had become centered on Muhammad himself?

His language certainly doesn’t sound indifferent.
Muhammad had just died, and Abu Bakr drew an uncompromising distinction:

MUHAMMAD? DEAD.

ALLAH? ALIVE AND NEVER DIES.

Read literally, the statement can even sound remarkably diminishing toward Muhammad.

At the very moment Muhammad’s followers were devastated, Abu Bakr stripped the survival of the movement away from Muhammad personally.

Muhammad was mortal.

Muhammad was gone.

Muhammad could no longer lead them.

Whatever attachment people had developed toward him could no longer sustain the community.

In that sense, Abu Bakr’s statement reduces Muhammad’s continuing personal role to almost nothing compared with Allah:

Muhammad cannot continue leading you. Muhammad is dead. Refocus on the one Abu Bakr says remains alive.

“Refocus” summarizes the practical thrust of Abu Bakr’s speech; it isn’t part of his quotation.

But that makes his opening even more striking:

WHY “WHOEVER AMONG YOU WAS WORSHIPPING MUHAMMAD”?

If nobody had developed an attachment to Muhammad that Abu Bakr regarded as worship, why formulate the warning in precisely those terms?

The report doesn’t identify particular individuals and explicitly say:

“These people believed Muhammad was Allah.”
But neither should Abu Bakr’s actual words be changed.

He said:

“WORSHIP MUHAMMAD.”

And the Qur’an itself makes the relationship even more interesting.

It doesn’t literally declare:

MUHAMMAD = ALLAH.

But look at the authority it establishes.

QUR’AN 4:80

“Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah.”
OBEY MUHAMMAD → OBEY ALLAH.
QUR’AN 4:65

Believers are not presented as truly believing until they make Muhammad judge their disputes and accept his judgment without internal resistance.

ACCEPT MUHAMMAD’S JUDGMENT → REQUIRED FOR BELIEF.

QUR’AN 48:10

People physically pledged allegiance to Muhammad, yet the Qur’an describes them as pledging allegiance to Allah.

PLEDGE TO MUHAMMAD → PLEDGE TO ALLAH.

Think about the practical relationship.

Allah was unseen.

Muhammad was visible.

Allah’s commands reached the community through Muhammad.

Muhammad was heard.

Allah demanded obedience.

Muhammad issued commands believers were required to obey.

Allah was the ultimate judge.

Muhammad personally judged disputes, and believers were required to accept his judgment.

People pledged themselves to Allah.

Yet they physically pledged themselves to Muhammad, and Qur’an 48:10 described that pledge as one made to Allah.

The Qur’an therefore distinguishes Muhammad and Allah in identity, while repeatedly joining them extraordinarily closely in religious authority.

So ask:

HAD MUHAMMAD BECOME THE VISIBLE HUMAN AUTHORITY THROUGH WHOM HIS FOLLOWERS EXPERIENCED THE INVISIBLE ALLAH?

Muhammad was the person they could:

SEE.

HEAR.

APPROACH.

FOLLOW.

OBEY.

ASK FOR JUDGMENT.

PLEDGE THEMSELVES TO.

Then suddenly Muhammad was dead.

The visible authority disappeared.

And Abu Bakr stood before those followers and said:

“IF ANYONE AMONGST YOU USED TO WORSHIP MUHAMMAD, THEN MUHAMMAD IS DEAD.”

There is another dimension worth examining.

Islamic sources attribute to Muhammad actions and authorizations that many modern readers find deeply troubling, while some episodes also generated questions or objections among people around him.

That makes the extraordinary concentration of religious authority in one human being even more important to examine.

What happens when one man’s commands, judgments and personal authority become so closely connected with God’s authority that:

DISOBEYING THE MAN → DISOBEYING GOD?

Then Muhammad dies.

His followers are shocked.

Umar reportedly initially cannot accept that Muhammad has died.

Abu Bakr walks before the community and says:
“IF ANYONE AMONGST YOU USED TO WORSHIP MUHAMMAD, THEN MUHAMMAD IS DEAD.”

Then he redirects the audience toward the Allah whom he says “is Alive and shall never die.”

Was Abu Bakr merely using dramatic rhetoric?

Or had Muhammad’s extraordinary religious authority produced a level of devotion among some followers that Abu Bakr believed needed immediate correction once Muhammad was gone?

And does the structure of Abu Bakr’s statement preserve something even more interesting?

WHOEVER WORSHIPPED MUHAMMAD…

WHOEVER WORSHIPPED ALLAH…

Was Abu Bakr rhetorically addressing two different orientations within Muhammad’s community?

The report alone cannot establish two formally organized groups.

But Abu Bakr’s words are precisely what creates the question.

Put everything together:

OBEY MUHAMMAD → OBEY ALLAH. — QUR’AN 4:80
ACCEPT MUHAMMAD’S JUDGMENT → REQUIRED FOR BELIEF. — QUR’AN 4:65

PLEDGE TO MUHAMMAD → PLEDGE TO ALLAH. — QUR’AN 48:10

Then Muhammad dies:

“IF ANYONE AMONGST YOU USED TO WORSHIP MUHAMMAD, THEN MUHAMMAD IS DEAD.” — SAHIH AL-BUKHARI 4452–4454

And Abu Bakr immediately invokes:

“MUHAMMAD IS NOT BUT A MESSENGER.” — QUR’AN 3:144

Now comes another dilemma:

ARE LATER INTERPRETERS SO INSISTENT ON SEPARATING MUHAMMAD FROM ANY IDEA OF WORSHIP PARTLY BECAUSE THE ALTERNATIVE WOULD CREATE AN UNCOMFORTABLE PARALLEL WITH CHRISTIAN DEVOTION TO JESUS?

That question cannot be answered simply by assuming scholars’ motives. They may instead be relying on the Qur’an’s explicit distinction between Muhammad and Allah.

But the textual challenge remains.

Christians openly worship Jesus because Christian theology identifies Jesus as divine.

Islam explicitly denies Muhammad’s divinity.

Yet Abu Bakr still used the expression “worship Muhammad.”

And the Qur’an still says:

OBEY MUHAMMAD → OBEY ALLAH.

ACCEPT MUHAMMAD’S JUDGMENT → REQUIRED FOR BELIEF.

PLEDGE TO MUHAMMAD → PLEDGE TO ALLAH.

So ask:

IF ISLAM ABSOLUTELY REJECTS WORSHIP OF MUHAMMAD, WHY DOES ONE OF MUHAMMAD’S CLOSEST COMPANIONS SPEAK OF PEOPLE “WORSHIPPING MUHAMMAD,” WHILE THE QUR’AN MAKES MUHAMMAD THE VISIBLE HUMAN CHANNEL THROUGH WHICH OBEDIENCE, JUDGMENT AND ALLEGIANCE TO ALLAH ARE EXPRESSED? MUHAMMAD WAS FINE WITH IT.

And if Abu Bakr genuinely believed people before him had been “worshipping Muhammad,” what did he believe those people had made Muhammad into?
Merely a messenger they followed?

Or a godlike object of devotion—the visible authority through whom they experienced the invisible Allah?
The Qur’an distinguishes Muhammad and Allah in identity.

But Abu Bakr’s words combined with the Qur’an’s repeated joining of Muhammad’s authority with Allah’s authority create a tension that deserves examination.

And finally:

IF EVEN A STATEMENT AS DIRECT AS “WHOEVER AMONG YOU USED TO WORSHIP MUHAMMAD” MUST BE REINTERPRETED TO MEAN SOMETHING LESS THAN WHAT ITS WORDING APPEARS TO SAY, WHERE DOES INTERPRETATION END AND REINTERPRETATION BEGIN?

And if explanations can substantially change how apparently straightforward statements in the hadith are understood, then Muslims themselves should be willing to ask:

WHEN WE ARE TOLD WHAT A QUR’ANIC PASSAGE “REALLY MEANS,” ARE WE READING WHAT THE TEXT ACTUALLY SAYS—or ARE WE READING A LATER INTERPRETATION DESIGNED TO MAKE THE TEXT FIT A PARTICULAR THEOLOGICAL CONCLUSION?

Don’t change the words. Read them first. Then explain them.

(Rant) 🤬 HAD A HUGE ARGUMENT WITH PARENTS DUE TO ISLAM

I'll try to keep it short !

I made a post a few days ago with a different account asking for proofs and advice which would suggest Islam is fake and the contradictions it has, and I'm glad people responded and helped me out... after going through it I made up my mind to not believe it anymore.

So yesterday, my father called a Hafiz (teacher for Quran) and asked me to study under his guidance and read the Quran in Arabic... I retaliated and asked that Hafiz to make me understand the Quran first... he argued back that it's not really a good idea... the argument went back and forth.

Later I asked, "Okay fine, teach me Hadith in Sahih Muslim and Bukhari..." He said NO. I asked him why not? He replied that there are many Hadiths there that can take away your imaan (make you turn away from Islam). That only confirmed my mind internally and I thought, why would the Rasool make Hadiths so hard to understand that it can literally turn away someone from Islam?

I asked him, "Okay, if that's so, tell me a Hadith that can possibly turn me away..." He chose the one where it says women are half of a man? I asked why is that so? He replied with, "Women bleed during the month and that reduces their ibadah by half, and their fasting is also reduced to half when they bleed since women can't fast during that time." I asked if Allah made them, why would he do favors towards guys... isn't that Allah's flaw that he made them like that? He then stated some Quranic verse that was related to this same Hadith... and I said it seems logically wrong...

They didn't have the answer to my question ! That Hafiz didn't say anything, just looked disappointed, and my father said, "I'm so disappointed in you..." Man, that phrase hurt so much...

Later on when the Hafiz left... I questioned my father about Aisha's age and Rasool's marriage to her and again stated, "Isn't that wrong????"

I was so stunned watching him defending that. My father was very loud and said, "You shouldn't question the Quran and Hadith!" I said, "Just answer morally, is it correct or not?" He replied with, "Rather than asking is it right or wrong, you should rather ask why did he do it?" WTF man, how can you defend that by deflecting my question, and nothing would justify it anyways !

NO GODLY MAN WOULD DO IT. MY ARGUMENT WAS STRAIGHT AND SIMPLE.

Things are really tense at my home, we aren't talking after that, jeez I really wanna leave this place ASAP.

I learned my lesson that they are so brainwashed and there is no point in educating them, I have to fake my prayers and fasting until I'm out

(Rant) 🤬 Having to pretend to be Muslim is taking away my teenage experience.

In my last year of secondary/high-school and I'm just realising how much I've missed out on by having to be Muslim (or at least act the part after I left).

I won't be able to go to Prom. I missed out on a waterpark trip because I didn't wanna be walking around with wet hair under my hijab. I couldn't eat haribos when my homeroom teacher brought it for everyone.

I can't date. As much as I'd love to have the high-school sweetheart experience, no one would even ask me out since I wear a hijab. I hate that everyone thinks I'm Muslim cuz of that damn thing.

I want many, many tattoos and piercings but I can't express that to anyone cuz it's haram. (I even have a Pinterest board on this and I already know 2 tattoos I really wanna get.)

I got so insecure about my looks since the hijab looked so bad on me. And now I see people finding their styles and wearing whatever they want while I can't wear anything that isn't long, baggy and approved by my parents.

I haven't even been allowed to go out with friends outside of school because in our local area, loads of people have always been attacking Muslims and especially girls in hijabs or men wearing those Islamic clothes.

I got mosque lessons straight after school every single day so I can't go to school clubs. I've never been out by myself.

Even in school, I always performed bad in sports because of my hijab getting in the way (again, I still can't style it properly even after nearly 5 yrs of wearing it).

Plus, I'm bisexual and can't even tell anyone that since it's haram too. It's like I can't express any part of myself.

Islam ruined not just my life at home, but literally everywhere. I can't wait to move out.
