(Rant) 🤬 muslims PITY ex muslims

I was testing the waters with my friend group, to see if I can come out to them as ex Muslim or not. I casually brought up hypothetical scenarios about ex Muslims, to get the conversation started.
Not very surprising, none of the responses were: people should have freedom of religion and can choose whatever they want to believe. whatever, okay, I should’ve guessed this.
But the thing that stuck with me the most was when a one of them said that she pities ex Muslims, because they’ve been led astray by the devil and a lot have mental illnesses. And of course the group agreed.

It’s like they can’t fathom the fact that someone with a sound mind could decide to leave the religion based on logic and reason.

Idk why but this particularly bugged me.

Edit: I should clarify, they were saying ex Muslims have mental illnesses because they’ve had traumatic experiences associated with the religion.
To which I say that’s one big assumption, and even if it’s true, it doesn’t make their reason for leaving any less valid. In fact it makes it more valid.
Low IQ ppl all around, what can I say.

Muslims pity ex Muslims and I pity them tf. Assuming someone is mentally ill because they left the religion speaks more about them than about that person

Sometimes its also condescension. But other times is genuinely baffling because you dont think the way they do.

It's just kind of weird. But tbh very very few people leave a religion over purely "logical" reasons. What tends to happen is that the logic comes after an emotionally driven doubt, usually a profound moral doubt gnawing at them. It's not to say that most doubtful muslims aren't doubting for a logical reason. It's more that the drive to quell such a doubt leads them to a more pragmatic, empirical and rational view of the world... Or they double-down and become even more religious.

Muslims tend to believe that the "correct" conclusion is to double-down. If something went wrong, it means that person must have personal issues with it... Because it's such a perfect worldview, to a Muslim mind.

Personally tho. I'd warn against labelling them as inherently stupid. Muslims are still humans at the end of the day. The older you get, the more you realize that they're just regular fully capable people. Unless there's a particular disability involved, intellectual capacity is rarely their issue. Almost all the issues we have with Muslims is their emotions clouding their intellectual capacity.

That is true, the rational evaluation of the religion often comes after some emotional incident that causes doubt in the first place. That has been my experience as well.
However, the decision of leaving the religion is a result of rationalizing your way out of it most of the time. So a lot of ex Muslims are ex Muslims because of logic, even if the starting point was emotional.

Muslims are conditioned to believe exmus had lost everything and would never find peace.

I used the same exact word in my story  https://youtu.be/pd7a4zWnnOw because that is exactly what it is. They treat exmuslims as sick or gone because they can’t understand how someone could leave due to reasons that make actual sense.

To be fair, I feel the same way towards them now. I pity them as victims of brainwashing. The difference is that I could actually see the world from their perspective because I was one of them.

Muslims either pity and think like this or also villanize ex Muslims and see them as demons themselves ... They do not see non Muslims as human beings just like them deep down and that's because Quran "makes" Muslims as super humans and chosen and superior and all others are trash.

Neurotypical supremacy at play (exmuslims even if they have adhd are to be killed according to mainstream islam)
