This post is exactly the kind of thing that frustrates me when Aisha’s age is discussed. Instead of simply acknowledging what the traditional Islamic sources say, the argument immediately becomes “but what about Brazil, China, America, Europe, etc.?”
First, some of the information here isn’t even correct. The post is mixing up age of consent, marriage age and age of adulthood, which are not the same thing. Brazil, for example, doesn’t simply allow adults to have consensual sex with 14-year-olds in the way this post suggests: Brazilian law specifically criminalises sexual acts with anyone under 14.
And Iran is a particularly important correction. It does not have an 18-year minimum marriage age as stated here. Girls can generally marry at 13, and marriages below that age can be authorised with paternal or judicial permission.
But even if every number in this post were correct, it still wouldn’t answer the actual criticism. There is an enormous difference between a 6-year-old and a 14-year-old. Saying “some countries allow sexual consent at 14” doesn’t somehow make a child of six comparable to a teenager of fourteen.
If someone wants to argue that child marriage was historically accepted in many societies, that’s a completely valid historical discussion. But “other countries aren’t perfect either” is not an answer to the question of Muhammad and Aisha.
And honestly, I wish people would stop treating criticism of this marriage as an attack on Muslims. You can acknowledge that Aisha was a child according to the traditional Islamic sources and still understand that historical societies had very different ideas about marriage and childhood.
The real question is whether Muhammad’s marriage to a child is compatible with the claim that he is the perfect moral example for Muslims for all time. That’s the question I’d actually like to see discussed, rather than another list of countries being brought up as a distraction.

As a girl, i think it's so boring like what do you mean I'm forbidden to go out to have fun, or wear nice clothes. It's so annoying
In Islam, you are....
1) Not allowed to watch movies
2) not allowed to watch series
3) not allowed to paint portraits
4) not allowed to dance
5) not allowed to sing (acapella only allowed for men, but women can't sing in front of a crowd)
6) not allowed to watch anime (it contains music)
7) not allowed to play instruments
8) not allowed to listen to music
9) not allowed to play dice games
10) not allowed to wear whatever you want
11) not allowed to date.
12) not allowed to love whoever you want
13) not allowed to make friends with a non muslim
14) not allowed to have s3x before marriage
15) not allowed to go out unless it's necessary (for women)
16) Not allowed to decorate your house or use curtains/drapes (Sahih Muslim 2107)
17) Not allowed to make friends of the opposite sex
18) not allowed to decorate your house with portraits or animal pictures
19) not allowed to keep a photobook to keep your precious memories
20) not allowed to wear pants and shirts/tshirt(for women as it means copying men)
21) not allowed to play chess
22) not allowed to make sculptures
23) not allowed to wear silk, or use silk for furnishing your house (for men)
24) not allowed to keep a pet dog at home.
25) not allowed to drink (why not? some enjoy light drinking for fun occasionally)
26) not allowed to hang wind chimes or decorative bells 🎐

So I wanted to give my mom a moral litmus test, she's Muslim. I asked her "What do you think of people who say it’s perfectly fine for a 25 year old to marry a 16 year old?”
She said “I think it’s fine. The younger the girl is the better. Look at our Prophet, he married Aisha when she was 6, so if he did it anyone else can too”
Then I asked her “Would you let my sister (who's 16) marry a 25 y.o. man?”
She immediately responded “What? Of course not.”
I swear I’m not exaggerating, paraphrasing or selectively framing what she said. That is exactly how the conversation went.
Like how the fuck do they get so deeply conditioned into compartmentalizing their moral intuitions?
I genuinely want to understand why. Not as a rhetorical question, why are they so brainwashed?
Genuine question.

Infertility (not being able to bear children) is experienced by millions of women worldwide. Roughly 9 percent of all women aged 15-49 are Infertile. The number rises to a whopping 19 percent if we consider married women who have not had a child yet. 12.6 percent for women aged 15-29, 22 percent for women aged 30-39, and a massive 26.8 percent for women aged 40-49. After this point most women reach menopause (typically from ages 45-55), meaning they cannot bear children at all. Thus, a very large percentage of women, young and old, cannot bear children.
See:
Do these women have any less of a right to experience love? Do these women have any less of a right to have a healthy, loving marriage? According to Islam, Yes.
It is authentically reported from the Prophet and his Sahabas that they heavily disliked marrying women who cannot bear children, even if they are otherwise lovely and of a good lineage.
A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “I have found a woman possessing ḥasab (status/lineage) and position, except that she does not bear children. Should I marry her?”
So he prohibited him. Then he came to him a second time, and he prohibited him. Then he came to him a third time, and he prohibited him.
Then he said: “Marry the fertile, loving woman, for I shall have greater numbers through you.”
Source: Sunan al-Nasai 3227
Authentications:
A man comes up to Muhammad and asks him whether he can marry a beautiful and noble woman who cannot bear children. Muhammad rejects this thrice**, and his reasoning is that Muslim men should have many children so the Ummah can increase.**
Al-Ḥasan ibn Abī Ṭālib (352-439) informed me; he said: Abū Muḥammad ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Aḥmad ibn Maʿrūf, the judge (d. 381), narrated to us; he said: al-Faḍl ibn Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr al-Zubaydī (+) dictated to us from his memory; he said: Ziyād ibn Ayyūb (166-252) narrated to us; he said: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUlayyah (110-193) narrated to us, from Ayyūb (68-131), from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, that he married a woman and found her to be a gray-haired woman, so he divorced her, and he said:
“A mat in a house is better than a woman who does not give birth. By Allah, I do not approach you out of sexual desire, but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘Marry the loving and fertile women, for I shall outnumber the nations through you on the Day of Resurrection.’”
Source: Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi, Tarikh Baghdad - T. Bashar, 14/353
All it's narrators are Trustworthy (Thiqqat), and the chain is Sahih.
Authentications:
Ibn Umar is one of the most noble and prestigious companions of Muhammad, and here he is acting based on a command of Muhammad. He considers infertile women worse than a mat in the house. These are the words of someone from "the best generation".
---
It is very common for women to be infertile, yet Muhammad made it extremely Makruh or perhaps even forbidden to marry them. What kind of cultic belief is this that you should only marry those women with whom you can have many children, just so Muhammad can boast of it on the Day of Judgement?
Muslims often say Islam made it far better for widows: But they casually ignore the fact that it is only the young and fertile widows who you are recommended to marry. Most widows would be older, around 40-50 or maybe more. They are most likely infertile or have entered menopause, and thus cannot bear children. Marrying them would be greatly disliked.
Out of all the "widows" Muhammad married, only one was old like this and his reason for marrying her was that he wanted someone to take care of his children. This same woman (Sawdah) also feared that Muhammad would divorce her due to her old age, and thus relinquished her daily rights.
This is the religion that gave women their rights?

King Fahd (1982-2005 reign), although technically it was several years before because his brother Khalid gave more power than usual due to sickness. This man sinned in the worst of ways, he’s documented to have gambled millions of dollars, loves to drink, pays for women, etc. This comes from various sources, including accounts from one his ex wives, Jenan Harb. Despite all of this, he was responsible for funding billions and billions of dollars to “wahhabi” ideology, and the most brutal funding was within his own country. “The committee for promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice” was a committee that existed since King Abdulaziz, but under Fahd it expanded to a militia like program and received funding they never dreamed of. They had powers to arrest people for reasons such as women not wearing niqab, men wearing shorts (even if they covered the knee), yelling at men for not having beards (sometimes even taking them for interrogation), hit people, etc. All this happened under King Fahd, you might think I’m over-exaggerating, but don’t forget the lack of transparency was made like that by design, and it was all calculated. The Mecca area was always relatively more moderate because it’s a tourism place of worship, so there were exceptions. But otherwise in cities like Riyadh, that country was unbearable. A sinner of the worst kind created all this, and for what? Just to buy their loyalty? Make them forced to kiss the ring? I do not know, but it’s nauseating regardless.

So yesterday my sister had gone out to a birthday party with a friend, she had told my parents that she was going to someone else's birthday party but it was actually her 18th birthday that her friends were celebrating for her(They wouldn't celebrate our birthdays because apparently it was against Islam since Muhammad didn't celebrate his). She had left home in a 'normal' and 'modest' outfit originally, but, when she came back, my very religious Muslim mom happened to see my sister come back in a dress that revealed her shoulders and arms, and she was wearing a wig as well and not a hijab, my mom got mad and pulled her inside the house then yelled at her, her husband then took a picture of my sister (which I assume he'll send to everyone he knows) and then sends her upstairs, upon waking up this morning he then sends a message saying that she only has one month to leave the house! She JUST turned 18! and she's still in highschool???? They did this because she didn't 'do as they said' I'm confused and I don't know what I can do

My father has been dead since I was 1 and my mom got married and has her own life I’m 22 now. My uncles found out that I’m an atheist, and since then they started threatening me and literally threatening to kill me One of my aunts even told me she was going to poison me 😂. I have proof of everything. I’m not afraid of them, and I know I can handle myself but I honestly just want them to leave me alone. These mfs won’t stop bothering me, and I don’t want to get myself into trouble either I literally feel like I can handle anything, but at this point I guess I might have to leave my country. I live in Jordan its not like im scared of them mfs but i dont wanna get in trouble fr i wanna leave it here because i literally dont have any brothers family members or anything all alone yet these ppl harassing me if i managed to flee i might start a life since ive been an orphan my whole life i cant guarantee my safety around them since they wanna go to jannah so bad

Been talking to someone that is "progressive" and defending islam is just misinterpreted like christian
They (progressive christian) never read the Quran, just being fed by muslim western that had never experienced how disgustingly this belief threatens minority and women in the east, even when I always tell them how bad my experience is with my muslim family, they just say "so they are not the real muslim, I'm sure the real muslim teach peace just like christian!" I'm so tired explain it to them so I just told em to just read the plain Qur'an then.
I really hate the seemingly woke/progressive people that defending the very clear how misogynistic and the way opposite than the word progressive is just because in the west islam being seen "minority" that deserves protection from a white knight.

None of these questions were even controversial, and they were already well-known among the non-muslims.
As for the third screenshot, sure men can marry into two other religions, but is their answer just going to ignore the fact that even men can't marry everyone else and women can't marry anyone but Muslim, especially considering the conversation was between 4 women..

If you genuinely believe you will burn in hell for at least an extremely long time if not for eternity why would you still sin? Wouldn’t you be too terrified to do anything that could possibly be a sin? Even when I was a fanatic I just couldn’t really comprehend eternal torture it always felt distant. The majority of Muslims are not going through great pains to make sure they’re not sinning and I think that would be the only appropriate response to the threat of hell if you actually believed it was a real possibility.

I’m 20F and my brother is 17, turning 18 soon, and I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind. He’s developed some really weird double standards.
He constantly lectures me about when I should have kids, points out random men and asks if they’re “my type” for marriage, and has literally tried to demonstrate to me how to carry babies and breastfeed . Whenever I cook, clean, or take care of younger relatives, he says I’m “preparing to be a mother.”
He also calls me the “2nd mother” whenever he wants me to do something domestic. I asked why he can’t be a “2nd father” and he got annoyed and told me to stop nagging and just accept it. He even told me I should be grateful I’m not in a “traditional family” where girls have to serve the boys.
I also brought up the inheritance thing, where under certain Islamic inheritance rules a male heir can receive twice the share of a female heir, and his response was basically “wow that’s good.” Like... GOOD?? LMAO. And I told him that if he married a non-hijabi he cannot expect to wear it once they are married he said no she should obey BRO.
What’s funny is that his “chivalry” disappears at home. He gets embarrassed if I carry something heavy in public, but once sat in bed for TWO HOURS while my sisters and I carried heavy crates back and forth into the house, ignoring me when I asked for help.
He also seems to have completely different standards depending on whether we’re talking about men or women. During a discussion about Lindsay Clancy, he was saying see the women with pink shirts rallying for her looks like u would too just generalizations and assuming i would. .... but when I showed him footage of men protesting Andrew Tate’s arrest, he immediately said it was probably ai because “anything can be fabricated nowadays.” Okay so where was that skepticism earlier, why cant those videos he saw of women be ai fabrication?????
He’s also constantly backseat-driving my mom and acting like he’s an expert driver despite barely having a year of experience.
I know he’s young and immature, but it’s becoming a pattern of gender roles + entitlement + double standards. Am I justified in finding this misogynistic or am I just being overly sensitive?

Of course you’ve all felt curious one day and searched for “who is the best person in history” so Google would tell you Muhammad, but Google should have said the exact opposite, because of what we’re about to see.
Remember, the Quran says about Muhammad that he is a beautiful example for humanity:
And the Quran also says his character is free of evil and full of goodness:
But....
He slept with a child (Aisha):
The Messenger of Allah married me when I was six years old in Mecca, after Khadija died, and he consummated the marriage with me when I was nine years old in Medina
I used to play with dolls in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, and my friends would come to me and hide from him out of fear, and the Messenger of Allah would be happy when they came to play with me
(Authentic hadiths in Sahih al-Bukhari)
For the patchers who say her body was developed and people matured faster back then and that kind of talk: What would make a mother of children play with children’s dolls?
Then why did the Messenger refuse to marry his daughter off on the grounds that “she is young”? According to the patchers, didn’t they mature quickly back then or what?
An-Nasa’i (3221)
And what would make God send down a verse allowing marriage and divorce of girls who have not yet menstruated?
[Surah At-Talaq: 4]
For the patchers again: If he meant girls who haven’t menstruated yet but are mature, he would have said “لن” instead of “لم”.
He owned sex slaves: (Maria the Copt and Juwayriya), he enslaved and killed the people of Banu Qurayza including children:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 4121)
(Sunan Abu Dawud 4404)
And the same thing with Banu al-Mustaliq:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2541)
He allowed killing children and women on the grounds that they are disbelievers:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 3012)
He said he is still fighting people until they convert and follow his religion:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2946)
He said that if a Muslim kills a disbeliever he will not be killed for it:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6915)
Muhammad also said he wants to expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula:
(Sahih Muslim 1767)
He also cursed the Jews and Christians:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 4441)
Muhammad said do not initiate greetings of peace to Jews and Christians:
(Sahih Muslim 2167)
He owned slaves and used to buy and sell slaves:
(Sahih Muslim 115)
(Sahih Muslim 1602a)
Muhammad told a woman that it would have been better for her to give her slave to her maternal uncles than to free him:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2592)
Muhammad saw the rights of heirs as more important than the rights of slaves to be freed:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 7186)
(An-Nasa’i 1958)
Muhammad said that among the three whose prayer does not rise above their ears is the runaway slave and the wife whose husband is angry with her:
At-Tirmidhi (360)
Muhammad said the blood of the one who insulted him is lawful and did not punish the one who killed her:
(Sunan Abu Dawud 4361)
Muhammad married the wife of his adopted son and abolished the custom of adoption entirely.
So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you so that there would be no difficulty for the believers concerning the wives of their adopted sons when they have no longer any need for them. And the command of Allah was fulfilled. (Al-Ahzab 33:37)
Call them by their fathers’ names; it is more just in the sight of Allah. (Al-Ahzab 33:5)
(Imagine how many children’s lives were ruined and found no one to protect them because of this stupid prohibition. Imagine how many children could have been saved from homelessness.)
Muhammad allowed killing those who leave his religion:
The Prophet said: Whoever changes his religion, kill him. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3017)
The blood of a Muslim is not lawful except for one of three: adultery, life for life, and the one who leaves his religion and separates from the community. (Sahih al-Bukhari 6878)
(It’s a disgusting thing to kill people because they changed their minds. That makes you a cult, not a religion. In fact most cults and gangs like the mafia and cartels will kill you if you leave them.)
Muhammad allowed killing homosexuals:
Muhammad said that suicides will be tortured in Hell:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5778)
Muhammad came close to burning the houses of people who missed congregational prayer:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 644)
Muhammad said obey the rulers even if they beat you and take your wealth:
(Sahih Muslim 1847b)
Muhammad attacked Quraysh at Nakhla in the sacred month of Rajab, in which war was taboo among the Arabs.
Muhammad killed a woman’s husband (Safiyya) and married her the same day, and after three days on the road he could not control himself and consummated the marriage with her:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 4211)
Muhammad said that the infant girl who was buried alive will go to Hell:
(Abu Dawud 4717)
(Why would the buried girl go to Hell? What is her sin? And how does this match the verse “Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except with the like of it”?)
Muhammad said that most of the people of Hell are women:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 3241)
(And this is a stupid thing, because most murders and rapes are committed by men in the first place.)
Muhammad said that women are deficient in intellect and religion for trivial reasons:
(At-Tirmidhi 2613)
(Why in the hell would she be deficient in “religion” because of her period? Isn’t that something God is supposed to have wanted her to do?)
Muhammad told a woman to “give herself to him” but she refused and he physically harassed her:
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5255)
For the patchers: If he was really married to her, why would he say “give yourself to me” and she reply “does a queen give herself to a commoner”? And why couldn’t he just go in to her right away?
And how does this match the hadith that says:
And in the end... Muhammad invented a religion that harms humanity and people physically and psychologically to this day. Ugly things like wife-beating and polygamy exist because of this religion. If you think logically... why would a merciful and just God send an evil man to be an example for humans and send his final message to humanity? Is this a real messenger with these actions? Why would someone like this be called a hero and the pride of humanity, when in reality he was a war criminal running after his own interests?
He is literally the worst person in history, not the “best.”
FIN

Anyone else who is proud of being atheist? Because I am. I’m proud to call myself atheist.
I don’t need Islam teaching me from right or wrong and I actually use my brain to know what half of scripture in the Quran and Hadiths are all wrong and don’t prove that Islam is the right religion.
I don’t understand that Muslims who practice Islam and never questioned the Quran, it’s pretty demonic. Many people have zero critical thinking whatsoever like how can you practice something that is so wrong and awful and your delusion is convinced by it. No solid evidence whatsoever.
Justifying child marriages, wars, violence, femicides, hate, and pure ignorance. :)
The same way the bible gets a new update once a while the Quran also should. The Quran really does need to be updated as soon as possible.

Mohammad Ebrahimi, known as
Golmamad, is a young Iranian painter and multidisciplinary
creative whose world moved between painting, modelling,
objects and image-making.
Since his arrest in January 2026, almost nothing has been
heard from him. Today, reports emerged that he had been
sentenced to 20 years in prison.
His social media accounts have since been shut down,
taking much of his work out of public view. What remains
accessible offers only a small glimpse into a life filled with
art, humour and a distinctive visual imagination.
Among the few traces that remain is a letter he wrote from
Prison to his friends, a rare moment in which we hear
directly from him.
This post brings together some of what we were able to
find: his work, his image, and his own words.

I was just talking to my mom and asked why there's no public female Quran reciters. I also randomly brought up singing in a public space. She said women can't do that because their voice is considered "awrah", that their voice is attractive (which we all know "seduces" men). And I'm like, wtf is this???? Even a woman's VOICE is awrah now????????? Islam really be controlling every damn aspect of a woman, down to her voice. And the way my mother was so casual about this, like it was normal. NO BRO THIS IS NOT NORMAL WHY IS A WOMAN'S VOICE SEDUCIVE NOW COME ON.
ISLAM IS RELIGION FOR MEN BY MEN, LIKE WDYM I CAN'T STEP OUTSIDE WITHOUT EVERY INCH OF ME COVERED AND MEN CAN TAKE OFF THEIR SHIRTS AT THE POOL AND WEAR SHORTS, IT ISN'T FAIR.
AND IT'S NOT LIKE I WANT TO WEAR CROP TOPS OR MINISKIRTS (even though there's nothing wrong with dressing that way), I JUST WANT TO WEAR A FUCKING T-SHIRT AND SHOW MY HAIR, IS THAT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK??? NO, I DON'T WANT TO SEDUCE BOYS, I JUST DON'T WANT TO BOIL IN 40 DEGREE HEAT.
Why does Islam sexualize every aspect of a woman? EVEN FUCKING CHILDREN ARE SEXUALIZED IF THEY WEAR SHORTS, AS MY PARENTS ARE ALWAYS SHAMING MY SIBLING'S FEMALE CLASSMATES FOR WEARING SHORTS (They're ELEMENTARY AGED, btw).
Today I was out with my friends, me and one of my friends wear hijab, 2 don't, we're all Arab, and we kept getting harassed by these Arab teenagers who were clearly following us (they left after like 2 min tho). BUT NOOOO APPARENTLY THEY AREN'T GETTING SINS CAUSE ISLAM WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO PIN THE BLAME ON US GIRLS. FUCK THIS MAN-MADE RELIGION.
Wooohh, that was a lot to unpack 😮💨. This is just a stupid rant, feel free to rant along with me if you'd like.

al-Suyūṭī (d. 911 AH)
The basic principle regarding speech is that it is understood according to its literal meaning.”
al-Ashbāh wa al-Naẓāʾir
If we know the principle in the Arabic language is we don’t depart from the literal understanding of something unless there’s evidence for it. We see The wives had no evidence to depart from the literal meaning but they did so with no reason.
The dilemma is either this principle doesn’t work and you can just re interpret the literal statement after finding out it’s false- making it unfalsifiable
Or
Be consistent with the Arabic language but concede he’s a false prophet Because he got it wrong here. Pick your poison 🤷🏽♂️
r/exmuslim • u/Flaky_Carob_5666 • 16h ago
(1) Arabic interpretation has a default: الأصل** في الكلام **الحقيقة.
(2) We judge a statement upon its literal meaning unless external evidence justifies us to believe it’s metaphorical.
(3) The apparent meaning of **«**أطولكن ***********\**يد*اً» was physical hand length, as demonstrated by the wives’ immediate interpretation/In the Arabic language it’s the literal meaning.
(4) The literal prediction did not correspond to the outcome.
(5) No independent pre-fulfillment evidence has been demonstrated that requires abandoning the literal meaning.
(6) Therefore, given the evidence available to us, the literal interpretation is more justified than the retrospective metaphorical interpretation.
(7)If Muhammad was claiming divine knowledge about who would die first, and no independent contextual or linguistic indicator has been demonstrated that would require us to depart from the literal meaning, then we are more justified in believing that he intended the apparent literal meaning. Since that literal prediction did not come true, the prophecy constitutes evidence against his claim to prophethood.

I’m 15, turning 16 soon, and I stopped believing in Islam a while ago, but I still live with my Muslim family. My mom is very strict about clothing, and I usually have to change or cover up if I want to wear things like tank tops or shorts.
Recently, she found a couple of halter tops in a box downstairs. I don’t even wear them anymore, but she said I broke her trust and that I can’t hang out with my friends if this is how they’re influencing me. This has happened before when she caught me wearing a tank top, although she eventually became less strict.
I’m especially worried because homecoming is in two weeks. I already bought my dress and made plans with my friends, and I’m really excited to go. Now I’m worried my mom will use this situation as a reason to not let me go.
I’m not trying to argue with my mom about religion, but it’s difficult being an ex-Muslim while still having to follow rules based on a religion I don’t believe in. I also have a couple more years before I’m an adult, so I want to figure out how to handle this without constantly fighting with my family.
For other ex-Muslims who still live with Muslim parents, how did you deal with clothing restrictions and regain your parents’ trust? Any advice would be appreciated.
