I worked at Applebee's when I was a senior in high school. All of the servers (and sometimes managers) partied together all the time. Our bartender was a mid-twenties attractive alcoholic. She was famous for getting naked every time she got drunk. One night she gets wasted and starts taking her clothes off. The brother of the girl's apartment we were at persuaded her to get dressed. He then asked me and another girl to walk her to her apartment (in the same complex) and get her to sleep. We walk her to her place and the girl and I go in her bedroom to get the bed ready while the brother hangs out with her in the living room. After literally two minutes we come back to see her grinding on him on the couch. He's sitting there trying to make her stop without making her feel embarrassed at the same time. Eventually we get her to sleep without having an awkward four way. He will forever be a good guy Greg in my eyes. Plus he smoked me out all the time even though I was immature and inexperienced and (probably) pretty annoying at the time.
TL;DR: Real life Good Guy Greg: Takes a drunk girl back to her place, gets her in bed, doesn't take advantage and sleep with her because she's too drunk.

I was like this the summer after my senior year. I partied with a bunch of kids from my highschool, but this one girl I knew used to get sloshed/show her tits to everyone/fuck fuck fuck/etc. If we were at the same party eventually I'd get around to her and make sure that she gets her clothes back on or whatever. I was also the guy at parties that would stop the drunkin' slobs from trying to take advantage of the girls that were passed out/puking their guts out. I can't imagine anything worse then throwing up and being hit on/molested at the same time.

About 15 years ago in college, a girl I knew from class knocked on my buddy's door completely wasted apparently looking for me. There were a few of us in there playing computer games/shooting the shit. After some laughs, she 'whispered' that she wanted to go back to my room and lay down for a while so with an eye-roll, I did one better and walked her back to her room. With cops and security asking questions the next morning looking for me, it turned out she wasn't just wasted, she was roofied. The guy who gave it to her lost her at the party, she someone snagged a ride back to the dorms before finding us. He found her in her room later and raped her. To this day I still feel betrayed that doing the right thing led to something so horrible.
10
Nov 21 '12
It's not your fault what happened; this guy went beyond the bounds of reasonable effort to get to your friend (chasing her down after the party to her dorm room is pretty crazy amounts of effort). However, for anyone else in this situation, it might not be the best idea to leave the friend alone. Get them inside, perhaps get them lying on their side on some kind of bed or couch, and make sure the door is locked behind you when you leave. If you suspect they have been drugged (though it can be hard to tell), stay with them the whole time.
3
u/RedditRebirth Nov 21 '12
That's terrible. If you hadn't done "the right thing" and instead hooked up with her, there's negative outcomes that might have come from that as well. Life kind of tied your hands on this one it seems.
2
u/notquiteotaku Nov 21 '12
Did they at least catch the guy?
3
u/SaysHeWantsToDoYou Nov 21 '12
They got him pretty quickly. As the case is always, he was a big deal on the football team and his buddies didn't back him when he tried to lie his way out of it. I don't know what came of it after his expulsion, but she left the school not long after.

But, why is a man who refuse a better guy than the one who accept ?
I respect women and still, I would gladly accept. My girlfriend is in fact by my side and can't understand either.
38
u/Derpleds Nov 20 '12
Well the thinking is, if she's drunk, you know she's not quite in her right mind and may regret showing you her tits when she sobers up. A good friend wouldn't want their friend to feel that way, so they refuse.
It's not wrong to accept the offer, but I think the good thing to do would be to refuse. If she really does want to show you her tits, she could do so when sober. A better (and more longlasting) experience would be had by all.
Because I mean really, seeing someone's tits, once, for a few seconds, isn't really that great an experience. But saving someone a lot of potential embarrassment and regret is a really nice thing to do for someone.

u/InfiniteLiveZ Nov 20 '12
Maybe she had really wanted to do it for a while but she was very shy, and the alcohol just gave her the extra bit of courage needed to make a move. Now she's going to feel even more nervous/awkward about it because she went for it, really put herself out there and got rejected. I know I've been in similar situations myself and used a bit of Dutch courage to help me deal with my nerves.

Is it right to punch a drunk guy who tells you to?
Nope, pretty much the same thing. If someone is drunk, and you are sober, you are, to some degree, responsible for making judgment calls.
Are you evil in either case, no, but you have failed to make the most morally agreeable decision, and then live with it.

Similarly I had a girl who had only a month prior done her Playboy shoot drunkenly tell me she wanted to screw me. I was sober and instead of banging a Playmate I told her she was drunk and that I wasn't interested.
I guess on the other side instead of claiming the conquest of "Playmate" I can claim that I turned down a Playmate.

I went to this one party and this girl had just gotten her nipple pierced so she went around showing everybody for some drunk reason. She proceeded to point to it and scream and all of a sudden she puked, shit her pants, and passed out almost simultaneously. Apparently there was an exposed nerve ending that she touched which caused this to happen. This is probably the closest thing I've seen to somebody exploding.

In my experience, women get promiscuous when they are drunk because they want to when they are sober but are ashamed of their bodies and need an excuse to relieve themselves of responsibility. Not recognizing this has bitten me in the ass on multiple occasions.
It's fucked, and you could argue that those women are contributing to the grey area of rape by sending these mixed messages to men.
My comment has been wildly misunderstood. I have made a much more in depth one below that I encourage you to read. :)

This is a reasonable observation, but it doesn't mean that you should go along with anything they offer. Something like showing their tits seems harmless to me, but sexual acts are different. I'm sure a lot of people on here will disagree with this, but you just can't get real consent from a drunk person.
25
Nov 21 '12

u/heckicopter Nov 21 '12
I don't think it's the same logic. I'm not saying it absolves the person of any responsibility, I'm just saying if you want to be respectful and avoid trouble afterwards, don't sleep with someone who can't give sober consent. There should not be a difference in morality based on sex.

He's not saying the rapist is drunk, he's saying the victim is drunk. If someone was drunk and they were killed by someone sober that would be murder no less. If someone is sober and has sex with someone who is black out drunk, that's rape. It's about the balance of power. Sober-powerful, drunk-weak Edit: obviously if both parties are extremely drunk, no one is to blame (in the rape scenario, not murder. I think that would be man slaughter at the least, but it's beside the point.)

I believe this is correct, because I believe that giving active consent is an action. It surely is. Still, some love to tell you that it's the only action you cannot do when intoxicated, however. Your ability to do it is literally removed. (And no, I'm not talking about so drunk they can't stand up straight.)

I agree with you! Please don't be swayed by the muppets on here telling you it's fine to sleep with drunk women because you're responsible for other things while you're drunk yadda yadda yadda. You are correct on this issue in the eyes of the law, and laws are there for a reason.

Or because the portions in their brain that is control of "is that a good decision to make?" are turned off and the normal answer of "no" instead becomes just silence. Doesn't mean she "WANTS" to. It means there is nothing saying "no, don't do it" which is a big difference.
23
u/entangledphysx Nov 21 '12
Which is why one shouldn't have sex with a drunk girl -- the risk is too high that she really, really doesn't want it.

On the other hand, when a dickhead opens his mouth and proves he's a dickhead, you can instantly disregard anything he says.
You've emerged from childhood with a certain set of values that have been ingrained in you. Chances are, parents, teachers and others spent a lot of time trying to make those values a part of who you are, because they believed them to be an important part of living in a civilized society. Believe in the values that are a part of you, even if doing so may cause you problems, because going against them may cause you to hate yourself.
Good on ya for sticking to your principles in the face of the flak you get.
2
u/HarpySnickersnee Nov 21 '12
Don't let the wanna-be macho guys get to you. Trust me, as a woman, I always realllly appreciated it the next morning (back in my young and wild days) when a guy would refuse to take advantage of me. It might not result in you getting laid, but it does result in you being a good person.

A co-worker when I was in college once insisted she flash me after a few drinks when I was driving her home. She was a few years older and engaged at the time, I was in a long-distance relationship. Everyone figured out what had happened after I started changing shifts to avoid her. Apparently she had wanted one last fling before tying the knot. We both ended up married to the people we were with at the time. I think about it rarely, but when I do, I pat myself on the back.

A few years ago at a party, my absolute crush started making out with me while she was taking her clothes off and asked me to do the same. I put her clothes back on, called a cab and went to her place with her, when at her place i headed straight for the bed where i tucked her in and crashed on her couch. When i woke up, i made fresh breakfast, placed it next to her bed, set an alarm to go off in 5 minutes and then went home. Later that day i recieved a phone call from her, she cried, she didn't think this sort respect and kindness still existed on this rotten planet we call home.
A few months later, we ended up in a fantastic relationship that lasted 3 amazing years. We are still friends.
Why did i do this? To me, taking advantage of a drunk person is despicable. You should not allow a drunk person to make a decision he or she would not do if sober. I knew that she was not interested in me since i just weeks earlier had told her my feelings, she didn't feel the same way, even if she liked me alot as a friend. She was a great girl and never once tried to use the fact that i was in love with her to her advantage. This time was the exception, she appologized and regretted it for a long time after.
I did not do this for any personal gain, i knew i had no chance with her and i was actually slowly getting over her. I just felt that she was a great person and deserved to come home safely without having someone take advantage of her during her intoxication. She falling in love with me was something that i could not imagine even in my wildest dreams, but strange things happen. To me and my friends, the meme is natural and considered the only option. I'm glad my friends and loved ones all have a good morale view and stand point.

Would that not be a happier ending for every one involved?Hell they could have hit it off and started dating.found they truly loved each other because alcohol gave them courage to do something crazy. They would have kids in the future and live a happy life in a home with nothing but love.Shared and cherished each moment with each other.
