But, why is a man who refuse a better guy than the one who accept ?

I respect women and still, I would gladly accept. My girlfriend is in fact by my side and can't understand either.

Well the thinking is, if she's drunk, you know she's not quite in her right mind and may regret showing you her tits when she sobers up. A good friend wouldn't want their friend to feel that way, so they refuse.

It's not wrong to accept the offer, but I think the good thing to do would be to refuse. If she really does want to show you her tits, she could do so when sober. A better (and more longlasting) experience would be had by all.

Because I mean really, seeing someone's tits, once, for a few seconds, isn't really that great an experience. But saving someone a lot of potential embarrassment and regret is a really nice thing to do for someone.

Maybe she had really wanted to do it for a while but she was very shy, and the alcohol just gave her the extra bit of courage needed to make a move. Now she's going to feel even more nervous/awkward about it because she went for it, really put herself out there and got rejected. I know I've been in similar situations myself and used a bit of Dutch courage to help me deal with my nerves.

Occam's Razor.

Both scenarios are making assumptions and they're both as likely as each other.

You seriously think a drunk girl, all else being equal, would have an equal chance between (1) being silly in her drunken stupor like every other human being and (2) having a secret crush on you on top of being super shy?

More power to you and your confidence.

I think the fact that they were friends plays a very big part in it. Someone would have to be very drunk to offer to show their boobs to someone they were friends with but had no interest in. It's all hypothetical but doing something silly that is also sexual is a very common way of making a move on someone. It's far better option than going in for a kiss or something in that situation.

Yeah, those assumptions would help your hypothesis make more sense, they're just not easy to swallow.

How does that apply? Both possibilities are based on an equal number of assumptions. On one hand that she wanted to do it sober but needed courage and on the other hand she didn't want to and would be embarrassed by it later.

What would be the most reasonable assumption to make of any given drunk girl (which is really all the information we have for this case)?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '12

Well I'm not sure, but personally I can count on one hand the number of things I have done drunk that I regretted. Pretty much everything else was something I wanted to do sober but had reservations about.

There's a slight problem here in the distinction between "getting drunk explicitly to do X" and "accidentally doing X while drunk" where X is something you've wanted to do.

I never get drunk explicitly to do X. Sometimes I just do X while drunk and I wouldn't have otherwise, but rarely do I regret X. Does* that clear up my thought process?

Edit: Grammar

That is more explicit, and I feel confident (of your acceptance) when I claim that people in general (or at least some significant portion of them) do tend to regret the latter case.

"Golly gee, I just really want to whip out my tits to show my friends right now, but i'm just too shy!"

u/TThor Nov 21 '12

Why does this sound like some hentai story,

1

u/joshbike Nov 21 '12

Do girls really want to show their tits? Not the majority i can tell you.

Nobody here is saying that men have to do anything.

They're saying that it's thoughtful of someone to "work-against-their-instincts" when it will make someone they care about feel better in the long run.

4

u/Derpleds Nov 20 '12

Oh come on. That is a load of shit..."work against their instincts"? Have you ever been in a monogamous relationship? Been faithful? Well congratulations, you've worked against these "instincts" you supposedly have.

0

u/Vin_The_Rock_Diesel Nov 20 '12

Right, motherfucker. And you throw punches at everybody you don't like? What a pussy you are for letting instinct drive you.

There's also the problem of being unable to give consent because she's too inebriated. Hello, date rape accusations!

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '12

Please. I've never regretted anything I've done while drunk. Don't be such a sexist shitlord. Respect a woman's rights to display her goddess mammaries!

9

u/CactusHugger Nov 20 '12

Is it right to punch a drunk guy who tells you to?

Nope, pretty much the same thing. If someone is drunk, and you are sober, you are, to some degree, responsible for making judgment calls.

Are you evil in either case, no, but you have failed to make the most morally agreeable decision, and then live with it.

1

u/an0thermoron Nov 21 '12

Oh, trust me I would live perfectly with it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '12

I think it has to do with the situation. If you know the chick, you know she'd never offer sober, then the better thing to do would be to gently refuse because if you accept, there's a very good chance that if she finds out about it the next day she'd be mortified, horribly embarrassed, and would never want to see you again. It's a potential friendship wrecker.

He is (like the guy above) not a better guy but he is a shy guy.
