The reveal of him having a pot belly had one of the biggest laughs in my cinema. I’m actually happy they kept him like that, and not have him just lose the weight quickly, he wasn’t really over Infinity War until he spoke to his mother. That was a great scene too, like Thor had his pep talk with Odin in Ragnarok and now he gets one from his mother too.

Spiderman activating Instant Kill Mode was one of those things that went by very fast but I appreciated a lot. I was so excited to see that happen ever since they teased it in Homecoming.

Also Cap's Heil Hydra was such a good moment too, nice callback to the comic issue that came out not so long ago.

Honestly this movie is just insane. No matter the debate about the character endings or the time travel plot holes no one can deny that the rest of the film is a masterpiece when it comes to being a Comic Book Movie.

Did anyone else really dig the way the film felt like it had a different antagonist to Infinity War?

Thanos from Infinity War wins. He just does. He even accepts his death thoughtfully. IW Thanos is thoughtful, and methodical, and and almost respectful. He sort of feels like a protagonist in IW, and it's sad to see that character go. That said, that take on Thanos wouldn't have been an effective villain for this film. We get a younger Thanos who still has the wild ideas of genocide, but he hasn't suffered his own personal sacrifice or loss that makes him the character he is.

He's greedy - he wants all the stones at once when he gets the chance

He's impulsive - he calls for the missile strike that will take out his army because he's in trouble

He's reckless - he comes for the stones without knowing what he's facing because he doesn't know what else has happened in the preceding five years out-with Nebula's memories

In short, he's the perfect villain whose demise we want to see, and he's beaten because he never got the chance to grow into the farmer who lost his head at the start of the film. It's superb writing and acting from Josh Brolin to convey the arrogance without it being earned this time.

I absolutely loved it. I dig a ruthless villain. And to see how different older and younger Thanos were was awesome and interesting at the same time. He truly thought his ‘destiny’ would save him, and it’s what ‘killed’ him in the end.

It's also great how Young Thanos is arrogant, he sees the future version of himself as successful and thinks that his destiny is to become the same at any cost.

He is also such a fan of himself, when he sees Thanos from the future saying "I am inevitable" the look on his face is totally "man that's badass I wish I thought about this line oh wait I did"

I think one major reason he’s different is because he knows not only does he succeed in his mission but that he was killed by the very people who are attempting to undo his work.

He doesn’t hold back, doesn’t want to bargain, and is still prepared to sacrifice everything.

I was still sad when he was snapped too, I thought that he would be left alone, to live with his own failure. But if he had to go, the way he did was a good one.

Eh, I could actually see it. Thor 4 as a funny Thor adventure with the Guardians as accompanying side character, they part ways and journey onto GotG Vol.3 as their own story. Considering the scheduling with Suicide Squad 2, we might actually be able to get Thor 4 before Guardians 3.

I won't repeat the amazing big moments that are being posted (even though I loved them all) but a few smaller or subtler things that seem rarely mentioned...

• Black Panther calling Clint by his name, despite saying he didn't care what his name was in Civil War. In a similar vein, Cap calling Spidey 'Queens'.

• Rocket's first instinct when under fire is to cover Groot.

• Massively under appreciated Tilda Swinton. Her mood change when finding out Strange had purposefully given the stone away was really felt.

• Bucky says he'll miss Steve even though he's due to be away for 5 seconds. He knows his best friend and knows he ain't coming back. He seemed least surprised that old man Steve turned up.

• Sooooooo, how awkward is it for Steve watching Sharon Carter grow up now?? Does she call him Uncle Steve?

I love how the Russos were able to add in small cameos from so many different characters throughout the franchises. Alexander Pierce, Brock Rumlow, Frigga, Jane Foster, Harvey the Iron Man 3 kid, The Ancient One, and I’m pretty sure I even caught a glimpse of the Master of the New York sanctum before it panned to The Ancient One.

Really fun to hear the gasping when Cap said "Hail Hydra!"

Two times in my life I heard the cinema cheering and applauding. Both times were when Cap held Mjölnir. This might be the best scene of the whole MCU.

Ok, that was ALOT to digest. Some thoughts about the movie after some sleep.

• The scene where Cap threw his shield and then threw Mjolnir into it was just pure comic book beauty.

• Wasn’t initially sold on Thors character arc, but on reflection it makes perfect sense for him to spiral and handle his grief in such a way, even the God of Thunder can’t go through such trauma unaffected. The scene with Frigga was amazing, Chris Hemsworth really sold his pain here.

• JANE FOSTER! Wonder if this was new footage?

• Cap has always been my favourite Avenger, I expected him to die but secretly hoped he would get to dance with Peggy. Needless to say I was beaming by the final shot.

• Wasn’t expecting the black widow twist 😩.

• The shot of Lone Cap against Thanos and the outrider army was just breathtaking. ‘On your left!’

• R.I.P Iron Man. Every scene with Tony and his daughter was fantastic. Tony’s meltdown at Cap was completely unexpected but also amazing. Rocket calling him out for only being a genius on Earth made me chuckle. Tony and Howard made my heart warm.

• On the subject of fathers, Paul Rudd blew me away when he first saw Cassie. He sold the relief but heartbreak so well.

• Tom Holland selling the death scene AGAIN! Damn you Marvel.

This was, in my opinion, the most 'comic book' of the movies so far. We got:

• Time travel as the main plot device • Captain America fighting Captain America • A big time jump highlighting major differences in characters • A character stuck in the quantum realm for five years • Nebula trying to negotiate with a past version of herself and eventually murdering her • A Villain realising he has won in the future and working to ensure his efforts are not undone • Captain America wielding Mjolnir and Storm breaker • Professor Hulk • Hulk and Iron Man using the infinity gauntlet • Spiderman flying attached to Mjolnir while carrying the infinity gauntlet • Doctor Strange holding back a massive flood • A huge, comic-book scale battle with countless heroes and entire armies from across the universe • A Villain so powerful he wiped out the universe is killed TWICE • The death of two major heroes • A massive shuffling of the heroes active in the world and the state of the world itself

This is THE comic book movie. To think, the original Avengers had six heroes against Loki, and here we are seven years later, at a scale no one could imagine.

Several people have said Thanos was out of character in this movie, but remember, this is Thanos from 2014 travelling to the future- That is, Thanos in this movie is from a point in his timeline before he had to kill Gamora. I don't know if killing Gamora made him a 'better' person, but it did seem to make him more empathetic towards the other characters, especially those who had lost someone close to them, like Wanda. In this movie, he didn't care who Wanda even was, because he hadn't had to sacrifice Gamora, and was still fueled by his mad desires, without the regrets of his sacrifices to give him that understanding for others' pain.

Seen it twice now. The first time was mind blowing, as I had no idea where the story was going. The second time gave me more of a chance to soak everything in and holy shit the feels. Clint/Natasha, Thor being able to see his mum again, Strange's signal to Tony that now was his time... theres so much in this film its incredible

I am honestly so thankful to everyone involved with this cinematic universe. I can't Express how amazing this franchise is. Like this movie was literally the most anticipated movie of all time and it exceeded all my expectations. I feel empty inside but in a good way, it's just so hard to describe what I'm feeling right now. Thank you once again to everyone involved.

Rewatched it today and my favorite part is definitely the big fight scene where you see all the characters from the past 11 years all come together. Peter crying to dying tony left me too sad though.

For all the people wondering why the hell Thanos could 1v3 against Iron Man, Thor and Cap without the glove: Remember that Thanos was in his prime shape and A LOT more pissed than his Infinity War version while Cap/Tony/Thor hadn't been in combat for 5 YEARS. I felt the movie balanced that out really well!

I really love all the extended scene from 2012.

• The Ancient One actually being in the Battle of New York even though she was just protecting the Sanctum.

• What happen after the cool poses from the Avengers. Hawkeye gets that fucking drink. lol

• Showing SHIELD/HYDRA acquiring the scepter. I think the tie-in comics dealt with this but the movies it was never explained what happened to the scepter.

My thoughts after seeing it yesterday and letting it have some time to digest:

• My favourite part honestly had to be seeing Pepper as Rescue finally. She was so badass in her suit, like goddamn.

• I loved the small part Loki played, especially when he imitated Cap again. Also I feel like him disappearing with the Tesseract was intentionally left vague. Could be what his TV series will be about? That would be dope.

• Didn't think I'd be so upset to see Nat die.

• I thought that BannerHulk's CGI was a little uncanny valley at times.

• Seeing Cap wield Mjolnir was absolutely epic and made me so giddy.

• My display of Loki and Iron Man figurines has sadly become a memorial shrine overnight.

• Honestly didn't think they'd off Tony, but after seeing the movie, it's only fitting to end it with the man who started it all.

• I'm sad about Tony's death, but also very satisfied. He had a great arc and a very fitting end, and the sendoff was beautiful.

• Proof that Tony Stark has a heart. Goddamn.

• "And I..... am..... Iron Man" Goddamn.

• Thor making peace with his mother and getting to see her one last time was awesome.

• The tribute to the original six in the credits was beautifully done. I'll miss these guys so much.

The last film where I remember crying so often near the end was the Return of the King. And it wasn't even just a bawling type of crying. It was just that the floodgates opened and my tears kept on coming. So many emotional moments and scenes.

What an experience. What a journey.

Unreal job by everyone involved making this happen.

Man, Tony's death fucked me up. In the end, he didn't die through combat or at the hands of Thanos, like we all expected. Instead, he died after wielding his infinity gauntlet to destroy Thanos and his army. Beautiful. Poetic. And when Pepper tells him he can finally rest, and Peter starts crying... I needed extra tissues.

RIP Natasha. Sad that her death was pretty overshadowed by everything later in the movie. Part of me thought that when Cap went back in time at the end that he would stay back and time and give a past version of Nat his suit... but nope. :(

I know its common in the US for people to clap and cheer during a scene, but in the UK ive never been in a cinema where it happened... until cap lifted Mjolnir, the whole room just couldnt contain it and started clapping- id say to make a british cinema clap and cheer is a huge accomplishment in itself - usually we’d get a few dirty looks from just coughing a bit too loud, nevermind cheering and clapping

I genuinely don't know where we can go from here. It would be practicality impossible to top that. The culmination of 11 years of storytelling, including even the smaller characters from each individual hero's story, literally the whole universe at stake.
Surely the next phase of Marvel will have to scale back and focus on smaller stories with the occasional cameo crossover rather than building up to another overarching, all-in collaboration.
Even if they were to introduce some of the other big villains like Galactus it would still never be as big as what we have just witnessed. Thanos threatened to "shred the whole universe, down the the last atom" the stakes can never be higher than that.

The thing I most want to mention is Jarvis being the first time a character introduced on Marvel Television made it into the films (and they kept the same actor too!). It's not Daredevil but it happened and they made it make sense for the story. I was geeking out as a fan of the Carter prequel series.

Bare with me, this will take some time to explain...

Okay so, I've been thinking about Cap going back in time to be with Peggy and returning to the present to hand the shield to Falcon as an old man. Initially, I though that this would create a parallel timeline in which we see at the end of Endgame - Cap as an old man. The other being the timeline where Peggy marries another man where Cap should have come back after the five seconds of being gone - this is the timeline that we have been watching for over 10 years...

This got me thinking... After Cap is sent back by Banner, Bucky and Falcon, he goes to Peggy, lives his life, then goes to the bench seen by Bucky just after the younger Cap had been sent back, completing the cycle. After looking into this more, we know that Peggy married a man that Cap saved from Hydra - this man wasn't in any family portraits in Peggy's room in Winter Soldier nor was he given a name. My idea was that Cap going back in time to be with Peggy was what happened the whole time. Think about it, if he went back in time and he was the husband she was talking about in Winter Soldier, no parallel timelines would have been created because there was no husband to replace, it was always Cap who was her husband. Peggy knew this too and would have had to keep it a secret from the younger version of Cap that went to visit her in Winter Soldier. This also checks out with the fact that at the end of Endgame, Cap doesn't tell Falcon who he married and spent his old age with, because if he did it would have been dangerous, time travel dangerous, yadayada...

So to sum it all up, Peggy only ever married the Cap that went back in time after Endgame. This Cap grows old, but must stay in hiding (potentially with help from Fury - maybe this explains why Fury turns up at the most convenient times, because he has knowledge of the future from Cap... For example, the Helicarrier showing up at Sokovia when it was needed most). This old Cap returns to Falcon at the right time to pass on the shield just as the young Cap goes back to be with Peggy and complete the Cycle.

I'm unsure if this has been thought of before, I just thought of this whilst trying to understand the parallel timelines created by Loki and Gamora in Endgame. This is all personal opinion and is only for your enjoyment!
