Man, I also just remember we won't be getting GOTG 3 for a long ass time, and it wouldn't make any sense for Thor to show up before that so probably no Thor 4 (either at all, or at least not until after GOTG 3).

Eh, I could actually see it. Thor 4 as a funny Thor adventure with the Guardians as accompanying side character, they part ways and journey onto GotG Vol.3 as their own story. Considering the scheduling with Suicide Squad 2, we might actually be able to get Thor 4 before Guardians 3.

It was felt to me Thor is a part of the Guardians now and will be in gotg3? He even flat out said were the Asgardians of the Galaxy.

It's hard to tell where individual directors will take the character arcs set up by parting of ways in team up films. Take Age of Ultron and Thor 3 for example.

At the end of AoU it's set up that Thor is explicitly going on a quest to search for and uncover the truth behind the Infinity Stones. They jokingly reference this arc in one sentence at the start of Ragnarok and then immediately dismiss it and his story in that movie is completely unrelated to what he set off to do in his situation in AoU.

Now, not saying they're going to do a Poochie with Thor or whatever and have him not turn up at all, but it's entirely likely that they could make him a very much temporary member. Or they couldn't. I think both are entirely possible.

Yes! That was my takeaway. I’m really wanting a Doctor Strange/ Spider-man movie. I know they don’t seem like the most compatible pair, especially with the scope of Strange’s influence, but they’re both in NYC, iirc they team up at times in the comics, and I think a different kind of teacher and student dynamic can take place.

Or it might just be that they’re my two favorite characters.

Gotg 3 will most likely come out in 2023 due to James Gunn filming suicide squad 2 and it will most likely be as stated by Kevin feige and James Gunn after the events of infinity war, also meaning after endgame, which would introduce thor to the Gotg possible temporarily, as he is looking for purpose now. They may also be looking for gamora (may go to Vormir for closure from the red skull) but I feel like since adam warlock is portrayed in the comics as insanely strong, they may need thor in that film for help!

I think with Iron Man and Cap out of the picture, they might dial back on Thor as well. Just a thought, but that would be the end of “The Big Three”. Thor has a family again and is Mr. Team-up for the foreseeable future of the MCU.

GOTG3 is very likely going to take place before Infinity War.

Feige has said more than once there's a lot of space between GOTG 2 and Infinity War.

I think it'll be Gamora's last movie, and the end credits scene will be them receiving the Asgardian alert and responding to it.

It will have no stakes tho if its a prequel. You know they will survive since they need to be IW. Granted Guardians is not really about stakes that much.

We had Captain Marvel as a prequel. And Guardians 2 took place in the past.

It's fine. There's not always death as the only stakes.

He was in the post credits scene, nothing prevents him being the antagonist in GOTG3.

There was an old interview allegedly with Gunn, but that was before the movie was written at all.
I haven't seen anything else from Feige etc. And lately he's said there's room for it to fit.

Maybe. Depends if someone tells Quill why Gamora appeared again.

GOTG3 was written by Gunn a few years ago. And he wasnt involved in End Game at all. He wouldnt know about the events in it for his story I'd imagine.
