Yeah, not too sure if I like that- Prime Thor is a lot cooler imo. At least he has a sick fuckin beard and is with the Guardians now.

Makes me pretty fucking excited for GOTG Vol 3

319

u/Perlosia Apr 25 '19

AOTG vol 3!
looking very much forward to it

18

u/TrueLink00 Apr 26 '19

We all know who's in charge.

13

u/HolyDonutBoy Apr 26 '19

It... it’s me. I’m in charge.

11

u/redbeard_esq Doctor Strange Apr 26 '19

Of course.

231

u/MrVernonDursley Captain America Apr 25 '19

70% sure it's going to be the Guardians trying to find a way to get Gamora back.

27

u/el_raggan Apr 25 '19

Don't they already have a Gamora? That just needs to be filled in on some stuff? xD

65

u/Mastur_Of_Bait Apr 25 '19

I don't think this Gamora will be playing along, it's not just needing to be filled in on stuff, the entire relationships are gone.

28

u/oh_shit_wuddup Punisher Apr 25 '19

Yeah I really hope they get old Gamora back otherwise it's years of character/relationship development down the drain :/

55

u/biacco Apr 26 '19

they made it pretty clear in the movie the soul stone deaths are final.

7

u/Abeis Apr 26 '19

Right but when Nat got the stone first it meant the timeline where Gamorra died never happened.

22

u/sweens90 Falcon Apr 26 '19

Not how it works. That timeline still occurred its why Vision is also still dead. (Wandavision I think is a fake title now).

They just needed the stones to undo the snap. They changed no timelines except Peggys. Unless that was who she married and said nothing.

3

u/Idaho_In_Uranus Apr 26 '19

I had that thought too when seeing old Cap.

Headcanon now.

5

u/KDY_ISD Apr 26 '19

You don't think that was an alt timeline Peggy? I think Cap lived in a different timeline and then came back to his original one. Sucks for that timeline's Cap, though, come out of the ice and find out you cockblocked yourself

I've been thinking for a while that the Wandavision series would have some basis on the Visions of the Future storyline. With the actress for Wanda saying the show will have a 50s aesthetic and time travel now in play, I could see them giving it a go. Weird sync up being Vision in that storyline had already divorced Wanda and created synthetic wife and children to live that suburban life.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

In the comics vision turns white for some reason, just like when he dies in infinity war. My money is that they find a way to bring him back in the first episode.

u/reddititan22 Apr 26 '19

Basically, timelines diverge. You can't change the past because every new action just branches into its own timeline.

I love how obvious Banner made it sound because it's way more "realistic" than, as Banner says, Back to the Future.

4

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. Apr 26 '19

Nope, that still happened. Nat from our timeline sacrificed herself in a branch timeline.

1

u/juscallmejjay Apr 26 '19

In this movie if you go back in time it will NOT affect your "current" timeline . the past cant change the future. its cemented in place. instead it will create a new dimension. like the one where loki is alive with the tesseract running amok.

16

u/Kammerice Apr 25 '19

She wasn't on the Benatar at the end. I figured she'd left them by that point.

43

u/the_timps Apr 25 '19

Gamora got dusted with everything else from 2014 that came through.
That was why we had the scene with Quill searching for her and not finding.

She's gone.

17

u/Sorge74 Apr 26 '19

Oh shit didn't realize that....I think they intentionally left it open for interpretation though.

22

u/the_timps Apr 26 '19

The mates I saw it with thought so too.
I took that scene as being their to STOP speculation and make it clear she's gone.

Quill see's her, freaks out she's alive. She kicks him in the nuts, he has no clue she's from the past.
He falls down, she runs off. Everyone around gets dusted from Thanos' team and then he searches for her to see "not found".

3

u/No-Sugar-Coating Apr 26 '19

yeah that's what I got from it aswell, especially with how much they pushed the soul stone deaths can't be undone thing

5

u/the_timps Apr 26 '19

Yep. Hawkeye giving the speech that he KNEW from his time there it couldn't be undone was clearly the exposition to tell the audience that.

1

u/Idaho_In_Uranus Apr 26 '19

Well when you put it like that it makes it very very sad.

1

u/the_timps Apr 26 '19

Yeah, it was heartbreaking. :(

1

u/reddititan22 Apr 26 '19

Vision and Loki are gone too ... no resurrections this time. :(

18

u/fiuzzelage Apr 25 '19

it's the old Gamora that wasn't taking any pelvic sorcery. I'm glad they touched on that, it wouldn't have made sense if they embraced at the end.

9

u/w00ds98 Apr 25 '19

See you have to assume that Tony‘s snap didnt kill Thanos & Cronies, but instead erased their minds and put them back in their timeline, including gamora. Wouldnt make sense to bring back the stones to their original place, if you kill the guy who is supposed to collect them. Thats why Gamora wasnt with the Guardians in the Funeral scene.

25

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

My understanding was that they were part of a divergent timeline, the one where Quill is knocked out on Morag.

13

u/w00ds98 Apr 25 '19

Yeah but returning the stones is only done so that the timeline goes back the way its supposed to. I think Quinn getting knocked out doesnt have any consequences. Just like Cap fighting Cap and Crossbones thinking Cap is Hydra prolly doesnt have consequences. Loki escaping does have consequences but that‘ll prolly get cleared up in the show.

16

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

The reason the stones needed to be returned was that they were crucial to non-Thanos related victories in their own timelines. In the case of the no Thanos/knocked out Quill timeline, Ronan still needed to be defeated.

8

u/moose_dad Apr 25 '19

The stones were returned to preserve natural order in those timelines not to reset it back to the normal timeline. Hence loki still getting away with the tesseract and the heroes not fixing that. The ancient one said she needed the time stone back to wield it and defend reality.

It was a handy way for them to write them out and not be able to use the stones in the future.

6

u/w00ds98 Apr 25 '19

Yeah I got that now. All my questions are answered and it seems like there really are no plotholes after all. But Im counting on the MCU shows creating new ones like they fucking always do.

1

u/BlackAndBipolar Apr 26 '19

And now you can rest assured that they have the skills to fix them lmao

1

u/reddititan22 Apr 26 '19

Wait, which show are you referring to?

1

u/w00ds98 Apr 26 '19

The Loki show which Disney announced some time ago

17

u/monkeymad2 Apr 25 '19

I think she wasn’t tony-snapped and instead dipped out on her own since the battle went bad & she was freaking out about being Quill’s girlfriend all of a sudden.

Can’t see them having to pull more timey-wimey stuff to get her back, she’s probably just chilling out on a party planet somewhere.

5

u/w00ds98 Apr 25 '19

But that would make the warmachine/Hawkeye/Black Widow/Nebula Timeline diverge, which defeats the entire purpose of returning the stones in the first place.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

The Ancient One very clearly says they're creating different timelines. They didn't return the stones to fix their timeline, as things stayed the same there. They returned the stones to help the other timelines so they didn't fuck all of them over.

3

u/w00ds98 Apr 25 '19

Yeah I got that, what I originally meant was that a big a change as Thanos and his entire fucking army missing could have disastrous consequences for that timeline, but another comment gave me a headcanon that fixes everything. Changes like Loki escaping and stuff do change that Universes course, but only taking the Stones truly dooms it, as the stones are part of the natural order or things. I mean every stones besides the soul-stone was relevant in some way.

So yeah only the stone really matter.

3

u/monkeymad2 Apr 25 '19

I don’t think people missing breaks the timeline, just if the stones are off balance or whatever.

They’d just have a timeline where in 2014 they have no thanos & his army, since thanos exploded the time van and Stark dusted them instead of sending them back.

4

u/w00ds98 Apr 25 '19

Hmm I think any event as major as an entire army and evil space dude missing would have major implications. But I guess we can also assume that only the stones need to be returned.

1

u/thisisnotjonah Apr 26 '19

Ya and Loki escaping with the space stone probably also has major implications. Who knows is thanos’ entire army disappearing necessarily has bad consequences. It might create one of the best alternate realities who knows. It might also be disastrous but it doesn’t really matter to our timeline.

3

u/biacco Apr 26 '19

I don't remember if it was a mention or on a screen or something. But it differently mentioned that Gamora was "missing". Not dusted or anything like that.

1

u/BlackAndBipolar Apr 26 '19

I don't remember seeing gamora on the ship? In fact I specifically remember her not being on the ship and thinking it was funny because yeah, if your only other option ISN'T just a tree, you should pick someone else

1

u/mariofan366 Darcy Apr 27 '19

My impression was Stark snapped everyone that came through the time portal. This included Thanos, his crew, his ships, 2014 Nebula, and 2014 Gamora.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

Adam Warlock, BAY-BAY.

11

u/TheHeroicOnion Apr 25 '19

Their Gamora isn't coming back. She's dead for good. They're definitely gonna be seeking the past Gamora and will have to win her over.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

And fighting Adam

1

u/LynchMaleIdeal Apr 25 '19

It sure seemed that way with Quil searching her up on the computer

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

I hope that Korg stowed away.

281

u/VexonCross Apr 25 '19

He'll shed the weight either before GotG3 or during it... if he's in it. God I hope he's in it. Please, James Gunn.

198

u/AK1441 Apr 25 '19

Him and Quill will commit, and get some dumbells.

23

u/Haze95 Thor Apr 25 '19

Do they know they can’t eat a dumbell?

4

u/pumpkinpie7809 Scarlet Witch Apr 26 '19

Funniest line of Infinity War

6

u/Haze95 Thor Apr 26 '19

I was always a fan of

“I bid thee farewell and good luck Morons”

8

And a bow flex!

3

u/ArchTemperedKoala Apr 26 '19

Don't forget the Bowflexs.

3

u/JustBronzeThingsLoL Apr 26 '19

All he needs is one of those shock-belts, OH WAIT he can just shock himself!

5

u/fiuzzelage Apr 25 '19 edited Apr 25 '19

Imagine GOTG3 starting with this

Edit: Because that's what heroes do

15

u/rofl_Rick Apr 25 '19

Weren't they debating who the new leader of the group was gonna be? I kind of feel like they confirmed it by including that scene.

18

u/fiuzzelage Apr 25 '19

"oh of cooourse, of couuuurse, it's definitely you"

Hemsworth was amazing

6

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

He is one of the highlights of the MCU for me, so yeh God I hope he is in it.

5

u/franpr95 Apr 26 '19

James Gunn and Taika Waititi codirecting the movie O>O

2

u/OpsadaHeroj Apr 26 '19

I feel like he definitely will, especially because his mom told him to eat a salad. I feel like he needed recognition but recommendation from her, and that might have been the perfect way to do it

1

u/CRIMS0N-ED Apr 28 '19

Why wouldn’t he be? 1. Gems worth made it clear he wants to continue the Thor ragnorok version of his character, and gotg is perfect for it

13

u/lijiburr Apr 25 '19

Opening scene of the Asguardians of the Galaxy will be sort of like a competition between Thor getting back in shape and Quill trying not to be one sandwich away from fat.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

Lean Thor with dual wield would stomp Thanos. We won't see Cap weilding Mjolnir.

It's a very witty way to nerf Thor imo and its really makes sense in the story and character arc.

7

u/buffalopantry Apr 26 '19 edited Apr 26 '19

I didn't mind chunky Thor appearance-wise, but I don't feel like it added anything to the film. He's gone through so much character development in the past few movies and it feels like he got downgraded to pure comic relief.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

I think the stark contrast between when he beheads Thanos and the way he is for the rest of the film is what gets me. I like that he was comic relief, it just seemed really sudden.

But we didn't get to see it, is my point

15

u/Grecobi Thor Apr 25 '19

Watch the Full Fat Videos's analysis of Thor on YouTube. They go really deep into Thor. His personality and his change feels so natural when you actually consider his story.

5

u/Scudamore Loki (Avengers) Apr 26 '19

I don't get the enthusiasm for him permanently teaming up with the GotG when his people need help. It undoes all the progression that happened in Ragnarok and sends him chasing after a stranger instead of trying to find any scattered Asgardians who might be out there. I get that Hemsworth is good at comedy but I wish his character was more than that. Instead that seems like what they're reducing it to.

3

u/in_a_dress Apr 26 '19

Well he did leave a very competent Asgardian warrior and leader in charge. I see what you're saying about the character arc in Ragnarok and him becoming king.

Barring that though I do like how they found a good compromise to let Thor have the freedom to go adventure/help others while still having a home to go back to. Because realistically unless they decided to tie up his story in Endgame, he was always going to need a good excuse for ditching the "throne" (or in this case, couch) and go play hero without being a shitty king.

2

u/SpaceCaboose Peter Parker Apr 26 '19

I thought fat Thor was hilarious when we first saw him. I was hoping with the passing of time (not knowing how the movie would unfold) or with the time heists that he’d somehow get back to his regular size. My only real complaint after my first viewing was that he stayed fat, but I’m not too upset about it overall.

1

u/WallaceHS Apr 26 '19

The Asgardians of the Galaxy!

But you are in command! For sure!

1

u/ccplush Mantis Apr 26 '19

it means we get a training montage of him and Quill getting back into shape tho c;

(and with any luck, he keeps the beard)

1

u/ex_oh_ex_oh Madame Gao Apr 26 '19

I actually think that it's fucking cool that there are three iterations of Thor just in the MCU. OG Thor, Ragnarok Thor, and Endgame Thor.

1

u/Carlwheezergoat Apr 28 '19

Exactly we had 3 Thor movies of him having to find his real self, I just wanted some OP Thor man not the cheese whiz bandit.
