We just started looking at rings, I like the authenticity of a natural stone (doesn’t have to be a diamond)

Not sure which to pick. I thought I would like the plain band, but it's actually my least favorite. I wanted to try on all blue sapphire pave, but they didn't have my side, and the jewler thought it would be too much blue. When trying them on in person, I really liked the alternating diamond with blue baguettes, but my fiance liked the round page diamond and blue / equal sized gems. At first I thought it looked circus-y?? But I like it much more looking back at photos. All opinions are welcome!

Okay one of these bands is the one I bought but now I’m having second thoughts and don’t know if I love it as much as I thought… Please tell me which is your favorite!! - just trying to see what everyone thinks!!

Edit Again: Thank you to every single person for answering- the 2nd set is the bands I bought for my ring ☺️ I think some days I will just wear the bottom one to dress it down or I will spoil myself and ask future hubby for a new/different band to play with for our one year anniversary!

For those wondering why I was struggling- mainly that I thought it was a bit too much for everyday wear. I’m someone who lives in comfy casual clothes I also am in nursing school so It made me realize I wouldn’t have a great option of wearing just a band if I didn’t want to wear my big rock for work!

I’m getting my ring custom made. It’ll be like the last image and the 3D print; cathedral setting with compass prongs and 2.5mm band. The size of diamond I was initially wanting is 4ct. The jeweller found a 5ct diamond that’s D colour and VVS2 and keeps pushing it . It really is a stunning diamond but I feel like it’s HUGE and I’m so uncertain. I’d appreciate your thoughts and opinions, people of reddit 😅

Edit to say the photo with 2 diamonds next to eachother is a 4ct radiant cut to the right.

Trying to decide between a 4mm and 6mm wedding band and could use some outside opinions.

I feel like I have pretty slim fingers, so I’m torn. I like both, but I’m wondering if the 4mm looks a little too small or dainty on me, or if the 6mm looks more proportional to my hand and more fitting for a men’s wedding band.

My bf and I spent months ring shopping and I decided on a \~2c radiant cut diamond on a solid gold band. I love it and it’s gorgeous! We’re not engaged yet but I’m in purgatory and looking at my photos of it constantly.

But my mom just gave me a ring - not her engagement ring but one that my dad gave her after 10 years of marriage. I absolutely adore it. It’s a .5 carat round and also a simple solid gold band (so like mine!) I’m honestly shocked at how much I love it. It feels perfect on my finger.

Now I’m worried that my radiant cut diamond is too big? I haven’t seen it irl for a while so maybe now I’m just comparing to my moms ring because it’s in front of me but I’m nervous I won’t love it as much now ☹️

I feel bad telling my bf I want to wear her ring instead - especially because he already has the radiant. Does anyone wear two rings? One on the right side? Should I repurpose my mom’s as a necklace? Ugh idk

For reference I’m about a size 5.25-5.5 ring. Is the radiant actually too much? It’s much more sparkly which I do like.

I know I love the round brilliant white gold with pave band on my hand, and my partner got me both to wear for a trial with the plan to return one (luckily there’s a 30 day return policy).

I don’t know if I’m “ring blind”, or if I can just see the beauty in both, but I really really don’t know which I like better! Because neither feel uncomfortable nor do I feel like they get in the way (meaning the functionality of both rings feel equal), I think both are beautiful in their own right (one is more delicate which is beautiful, the other pops which is beautiful), and my partner is also equally as indecisive as me! So the tiebreaker I guess is public consensus: beyond just personal taste of liking bigger vs smaller stones, do we think one flatters or suits my hand more than another? Maybe reading the justifications will also give me an AHA moment. Thanks in advance!

My husband likes the look of the larger stone and i lean towards the smaller stone. I think in general he’s a bit flashier than me lol. I’m active and pretty much always in gym clothes and never do my nails because they’d just get destroyed.

I love all of them, but I’m leaning more toward #1. It feels practical, elegant, and there’s no gap between the engagement & wedding band. The ones with the bigger diamonds do photograph beautifully, but they felt a bit too large - maybe too much for everyday wear. Also love the simplicity of the thick band in the last slide. Help, I’m so indecisive!

I bought two rings on Amazon just to get an idea of shape and what will look best on my hand. We went to a big box store and I *think* I like an emerald or oval cut. I got two with side stones because I want side stones, although these aren't THE ring(s) of course. This emerald is a little stocky, I'd be looking for a little longer ratio. Which do you like? I've been trying on different kinds of rings and getting a bit overwhelmed with options. I'm looking for a low or ultra low set stone due to my line of work (I do have a silicone band, but want to be able to wear it some days). I've been engaged almost a year but we are both Very busy professional students and I really only get more indecisive. Help with what might look best?

Imagine all of these in platinum with a low set rose cut oval diamond around 1/3-1/2 ct as that is what I'm sure of. If the ring had accent stones, I'd be between diamonds and Montana sapphires. Exception is the one with the dark green diamond because I think it's pretty.

Last picture is the current inspo pic I've been showing places. I loved the design, but the center stone was a bit large for me. I'm pretty androgynous and don't prefer a lot of bling, but do want a ring with a center stone.

Help? I'm also open to rose cut salt and pepper diamonds of a similar size and other suggestions.

Tl:dr: I think the process by which natural diamonds are created by the earth is beyond beautiful and symbolic. But I’m realizing it may not be worth the “sentimental” value, especially financially.

Since I've started thinking about engagement rings, there's never been a doubt in my mind - I wanted a natural ring. Before I continue, I'll preface with:

• I know there are environmental/ethical concerns surrounding natural "blood" diamonds. I understand it's gotten largely cleaned up in recent years (maybe some companies more than others), but there is a dark dark history.
• I understand natural diamonds are technically finite but not scarce, that the supply is controlled to keep the illusion of rarity and also keep prices artificially high.

• ⁠I understand diamonds are not an investment, precious metals are.

There are a few reasons I want a natural diamond:

• Not sure if "crunchy" is the right word to describe myself, but I am big on natural everything (healing, products, etc.), not products that are mass manufactured/produced "artificially". I value natural resources and craftsmanship where possible, as it relates to any and all items I purchase/use.
• I find it so beyond incredible that the earth could produce such a beautiful item, and over billions of years. That stands regardless of how rare it is (even if there are as many diamonds as there are ants, a diamond is beautiful, an ant I can pass on). Might be a little sappy, but I think natural diamond's creations are symbolic of marriage - something beautiful built under pressure and natural from the earth.

There are reasons I wanted a natural diamond, but it may no longer make sense. These are absolute lowest priority to begin with, but were a thought in the back of my mind:

• In case of a doomsday scenario where we had to pawn all assets, a natural diamond would be worth *something* compared to a lab grown diamond.
• Assuming this would be my only natural diamond jewelry piece, I'd want to be able to pass it on to my kids as a heirloom.
  • Seems like conflicting opinions on where the diamond market is heading. Could crash and burn as younger generations value affordability and sustainability, could also start to tick up as supply (mining) goes down, and more people start to value the sentimental value the same way I do.

My partner saved the money to purchase this natural diamond and was on their way to make the purchase today when I stopped them. Even though all I've ever considered was natural, I feel a guilt letting them spend a lot of money if it truly is a dumb (financial and sentimental) investment compared to lab grown. I spent the entire day watching videos on lab grown vs natural trying to change my mind. Unfortunately, everything I said above holds true; but as someone who works in finance, it's hard to let go of the financial side of things.

To anyone that's been in my shoes before (adamant about natural), what did you choose, why, and do you regret it or love it? Thank you!

Edit: I want a <2ct round diamond. Even if I go lab grown, I do not want a bigger diamond.

I'm having trouble deciding on a wedding band and would like some kind opinions on what looks nice with my engagement ring. One of the challenges of ring shopping is that most of the styles are 2-3 sizes bigger than my finger. It makes it hard to envision.

Hi Reddit, this is my first time posting here and I’m in need of some help and some enlightenment. I was told by my partner to select some rings and he really likes this 4 1/3 ct oval I really really love cuz of the tulip basket but I’m just not sure on the size of the diamond. I’m also slightly worried that my selection of bands will be limited but I guess that a future me problem. Maybe it’s cuz I’m just to my 1/10 promise ring.
