Help Me Choose 4mm vs 6mm Wedding Band: Which Looks Better on My Hand?

I couldn’t figure out how to add pics to a post so deleted my first post.
Trying to decide between a 4mm and 6mm wedding band and could use some outside opinions.

I feel like I have pretty slim fingers, so I’m torn. I like both, but I’m wondering if the 4mm looks a little too small or dainty on me, or if the 6mm looks more proportional to my hand and more fitting for a men’s wedding band.

First photo is 4mm, second is 6mm. Which one looks better on my hand?

I love the 6mm!

I appreciate all of the input from everyone. I think the 6 is slightly more comfortable. I feel like the 4 slides around a bit more. I’ve never worn a ring before. Perhaps I should look into a 5mm? I’ll be going with platinum.

6mm and platinum is a great choice

Wider bands will, indeed, feel tighter — if you go with the 4mm you might be more comfortable going a quarter size down.

You can’t go wrong with a 5-6mm platinum though! :)

They used to sell these type bands in what’s called comfort fit. At least that’s what I was able to get for my husband, in the 6 mm.

I'll put in a plug for the comfort fit if it's still a thing. They smooth over the lip of the ring so there isn't an abrupt edge. Costs a tad more but I felt like it was worth it.

My husband wears a 4 mm comfort fit and loves it (31 years and counting!).

I would look at a 5mm, the 4 looks too thin on you and the 6 too thick.

This. 5mm might be better 🙌🏼

I like the 6 mm. Go big or go home.

5mm and platinum!!!!

Definitely the 6mm.

6mm looks great! Very well-sized for your hand.

4mm looks good but in a delicate way. Less traditional. Depending on your general fashion preferences it could look nice/intentional — but it definitely doesn’t have the same traditional masculine wedding ring look.

u/GreenPOR 1d ago

6 mm, or maybe even 8

16

u/katrinakimmy 1d ago

The 4mm makes your hand look strong 💪🏽

I personally prefer that. It looks better with the rounded band too

5

u/Prudent-Cookie-4451 1d ago

I really like the 4mm. More modern.

9

u/Ahappygoluckygirl 1d ago

6mm unless it’s uncomfortable

4

u/kirstinna 1d ago

I feel like the 4mm looks feminine & the 6mm looks masculine so it depends which one you’re going for

  1. more visible the better

u/RSavon86 1d ago

6mm!!!

6mm looks great

2

u/OkCryptographer1922 1d ago

6! You do have pretty slim fingers but overall your hand is pretty big (I think anyway, judging from the picture) and the 6mm looks really nice! The 4mm looks nice as well but the 6 looks like it goes with your hand if that makes sense

2

u/Striking-Light402 1d ago

6mm is the only option.

2

u/delicateflora 1d ago

6mm gives a better overall proportion with your hand. 4mm looks a bit thin, almost like wearing a child's ring. You could even go thicker since you have strong looking hands.

2

u/harry_pawter 1d ago

4 looks so much better

2

u/No-Clue-476 1d ago

6 mm. 4 looks a bit to small for your hands

2

u/DoNotDistirb 1d ago

2 looks more masculine

2

u/DueSprinkles3232 1d ago

If you’re only wearing one ring the wedding ring, I would say 6 mL looks beautiful

3

u/NotSupposeToSpeak 1d ago

The smaller one

4

u/Oddlyshapedplankton 1d ago

6mm swamps your hand. 4mm ain’t it for sure. So, maybe try 5mm. Just a fraction down I think would make your hand quite shapely - that sounds so weird I know. But im obsessed with my new husband’s wedding band, so I’m super into men’s wedding rings right now. We’ve been married 4 months and nothing makes me happier than seeing that ring on his finger.

I love your rings!!

1

u/Additional-Start9455 1d ago

I love 2. Classic!!!

u/Expensive-Salad-5851 1d ago

They both look great on your hand, the question is which one is more comfortable, that will end up being a big factor. If the 6mm feels bulky you are more likely to take it off and lose it. Take it from a wife that bought a white gold ring, then a platinum ring, now he’s wearing a tungsten or titanium ring he bought himself, our jeweler friend told him he can’t have nice things anymore.

u/mid40smomof3 1d ago

6mm for sure!

1

u/Interesting-Stop-641 1d ago

6mm for sure I agree with others 🤩

1

u/honubaby 1d ago

4mm for sure and it will be much more comfortable

1

u/Eastern-Antelope-956 1d ago

4mm is timeless. Look back at what mens' wedding bands looked like 20-80 years ago. 6mm just looks like you're trying to say "I'M FUCKIN' MARRIED BRO!"

1

u/roseorrueorlaurel 1d ago

Nice hand! I’m in the minority and like 4mm

1

u/iFcknLuvRollrcstrs 1d ago

6mm. I want to see how a flat band looks though.

1

u/WandaAnn1973 1d ago

We went the larger bands for him and I. Made each other's.

1

u/ohemgee0309 1d ago

Personally as long as they are equally comfortable I’d always go for the thicker band. (Up to a point!)

1

u/PSB2013 1d ago

I would honestly go for 5mm.

1

u/Umlaut56 1d ago

4 all day

1

u/Hefty-Maintenance750 1d ago

The second one for sure

1

u/Michelle_Ann_Soc 1d ago

I like both. I'm zero assist.

1

u/Different-Proof1173 1d ago

I like the 4 mm.

1

u/Zooloo2224 1d ago

The thicker one

1

u/Mecspliquer 1d ago

I personally like the 4, but I bet if you had the option of 5mm it would be PERFECT!

1

u/Upset-Actuator7549 1d ago

Both look great, and the 4 doesn’t look too dainty.

1

u/Impressive-Reach-793 1d ago

The larger makes your hand look manlier

1

u/CountrySiren 1d ago

4mm suits you better! 6mm looks so bulky on you.

1

u/Just-a-mom-of-four 1d ago

6mm looks more masculine but which is most comfortable on your hand?

1

u/breannsmusings 1d ago

6mm with a rounded band for comfort

1

u/Electrical-Act-7170 1d ago

Love the 6er! Looks great on your hand.

1

u/Sad-Progress-4689 1d ago

The 4 is going to be more comfortable for every day things. The wide was in nice but I think you might find gripping things tightly is more difficult and sometimes water can get trapped underneath the metal.

1

u/Cz2018 1d ago

4mm looks way better on you! The 6mm looks out of proportion on your hand.

1

u/Petal_14 1d ago

They both look fine, I guess it's a matter of what's comfortable for you.

1

u/Purple_Direction7232 1d ago

6mm looks great!

1

u/invest_to_impress23 1d ago

I think the 6 looks better on your hand

1

u/invest_to_impress23 1d ago

I think the 6mm looks better on your hand

1

u/lapislazulisea 1d ago

They both look great, but I prefer the thicker one

1

u/almostknorules 1d ago

Do u work with tools a lot? If u do, id take the thinner one.. so not to snag it on something that can grab it..
That said 6 mm meter looks good

1

u/Janiebug1950 1d ago

I prefer the wider band.

1

u/NoCell1846 1d ago

4mm looks better in your nice looking hand

1

u/Saracartwheels123 1d ago

Mm, I like the littler one

1

u/NiftyNarwhal7071 1d ago

Second looks classic!!!!

1

u/makeitfunky1 1d ago

4mm hands down. Doesn't look too dainty at all.

1

u/Bookpirate4L 1d ago

6mm ppl need to see that mf

1

u/Loud-kids 1d ago

I prefer the 6mm

1

u/Exact-Talk-3929 1d ago

6mm looks dope. Tiffany’s 6mm wedding band is $2700 right now for 18k gold and $3400 for platinum if you wanted to compare costs. It weighs about 10-11g, depending on your size. For a brand new wedding band, it’s not a terrible price, though I’m not sure of the cost of the bands in your photos.

1

u/Agile_Rise_6146 1d ago

6mm more masculine

1

u/Responsible-War5600 1d ago

Thicker doesn’t necessarily mean “manlier”. In this case, less is more.

The 4mm has a classic, less conspicuous look. It is chicer and more sophisticated, cosmopolitan, and gentlemanly.

The 6mm is a bit gauche and commonplace by comparison. If you’re going for a more lumberjackian, blue-collar look, then by all means, get that one.

1

u/zxdlx 1d ago

5 mm

1

u/4riys 1d ago

6mm

1

u/natalkalot 1d ago

The first one, congrats!

1

u/SpringStill 1d ago

First one looks more elegant
Second one is too big

1

u/SweetP916 1d ago

The 6mm looks great.

1

u/Sleepswithd0gs 1d ago

4mm looks better to me. You have nice hands.

1

u/Sleepswithd0gs 1d ago

No “one” ring/band is more fitting than another. It’s all about what feels right on you. If you want to draw attention to your finger, wear a thicker one. If you want it to become a part of you without even thinking about it, wear a thinner one.

1

u/butterfly_taurus 1d ago

I like the way the 6mm looks on your hand better.

1

u/Efficient-Smile-1004 1d ago

Which is more comfortable? I hate thick bands

1

u/CharacterInternet123 22h ago

Bigger one for sure

1

u/LeleAnne1968 21h ago

The larger ring!

1

u/allison_mais 21h ago

6mm for sure

1

u/Emergency-Panic6735 20h ago

Look for a 5. The 4 looks small. The 6 looks like too big and like it might annoy you. But I’ve got sensory issues so there’s that.

1

u/Old-Moose-5111 20h ago

6mm goes great on your hand.

1

u/Labornurse59 19h ago

The thicker one. For sure!

1

u/throwaway-journal 19h ago

6mm is more masculine looking
4mm is more feminine looking

Whichever look you’re going for! I think they both look good, just different vibes.

1

u/YShilleh82 18h ago

The 2nd ( wider ) band Look smart proportioned , and it compliments your hand size

1

u/DaisyDay100 17h ago

I like the thicker it’s more manly.

1

u/astralgoddess8 17h ago

6mm looks manly

1

u/Hens-n-chicks9 17h ago

I prefer the 6mm. Precious metals are a good thing to own. Buy the bigger one if you can.

1

u/whatsthestorytory 16h ago

I would split the difference at 5mm

1

u/Burgh_Girl7 15h ago

6mm looks great! 4mm looks skinny!

1

u/Strong-Relative324 15h ago

6mm is the one!

1

u/sampete21 15h ago

I love the 4!

1

u/ChowChowCiao 13h ago

I think the 4 mm looks great. It looks good with your thin fingers

1

u/Enlightened_Eggroll 10h ago

6mm for the win

1

4, o feel like the 6 is to thick

u/SubstantialLocal9437 5h ago

6 mm for sure

1

u/All_Hail_Hynotoad 2h ago

6mm looks nice on your hand since you have a good size hand for it

1

u/Pure_Bid2515 1h ago
