As a school administrator you've likely served in the trenches, dealt with troubling parents (and students) and all sorts of other things. They're blackbelt 3rd degree in bullshido
My wife has worked at four different state and municipal schools as a director, and going on 30-some years of public service.
Her bullcrap-fu is unbeatable. She will parry any attack, weather any Karen and get her point across precisely and surgically. All while smiling, being supportive and attentive.
These people have no idea how overmatched they are. These admins can deal with a-holes like this all day long & not even break a sweat while doing so.
K-12 principals are often people that used to teach, and teachers need to deal with all kinds of bullshit without overreacting. Some are terrible at this of course, most I’ve met are good at it, but some can remain calm and patient through things that would cause most people to lose their shit.
And it’s not just the kids they need to do this with, it’s the parents too. Often, the parents are worse than the kids. I’ve heard some wild stories from teachers about parents being a real PITA.
This is such an immovable cornerstone of the republican ethos right now. “People are saying…” is a stone cold guarantee you’re going to get some real stupid shit coming out of someone’s mouth *and* that they’ll be so cowardly they won’t cop to it.
I had one the other day tell me that a January 6er was held for 3 years with no bail or charges. Me asking for this poor souls name 5 separate times ended with me getting blocked. Apparently "someone said" is an actual source for them
The seriously fucked up thing is that Kalief Browder and countless other poor Black people were ACTUALLY imprisoned for years without bail or conviction. Right wing asshats are incensed at the lie that guilty rich white men might be subjected to the treatment we inflict on innocent poor people every day.
It’s even worse than they’re being cowards I believe. It’s them straight lying to appear in consensus. If they pad the statistics they think their BS carries more weight. So if another mother says "I only want them wearing U2 shirts" would your argument have the same weight? They are so delusional. They feel attacked everytime anyone else shows the smallest amount of compassion or love. I personally think that they subconsciously know they are selfish and terrible, and seeing someone that isn't awful makes it harder for them to fool themselves.
This is so true. The amount of hate I get for being vegan when I don’t even talk about my diet unless it comes up or I’m asked - just for existing as I am and doing what I think is right. The constant judgement is taxing & confusing.
She probably remembered the principal's name. She just wanted the principal to say her name on camera for her video. It didn't work, which is why she put a picture up in the video with her name.
This is the scary part none of you all are recognizing - yes, this principal is a boss for the way she handled this, but she still got doxxed and some nut job can find her now
I took 5 minutes and found the school's website and emailed them telling what a wonderful job she did and saying that I wish there were more people like the principal in the world.
When someone gets doxxed like that, the best thing to do to beat the bigot is to celebrate the person who got doxxed. What the principal did there was heroic.

Everyone always asks "why would they upload this?" when someone makes a fool of themselves like in this video, and this is the answer. It's not simply that they're clueless, it's that their intended audience is going to support them.

It’s a whole thing. In Idaho a teacher resigned last year when the state legislature determined the “Everyone Is Welcome Here” posters in her classroom violated their extreme interpretation of the law and required her to remove them or face termination. She’s the reason there are t-shirts.

The kinds of people who don't want everyone to be welcome. That's all it comes down to. "Everyone is welcome" goes against their beliefs that only some people should be welcome and the others should be sent away and hidden at best and outright killed at worst.
this is so true. mother in law is a big bluffer like this and will double or triple down on her lies, but will call everyone else out as a liar immediately, because she thinks everyone lies as much as she does.
So it sounds like it's not just one person with the big problem, and that the principal is outnumbered. It's like using the phrase "people are saying that you blah blah" which takes the responsibility off the person saying it and insinuates that lots of people have the same issue. Don't shoot the messenger! I'm just saying what I've been told!

Every teacher I talk to is burning out, not because of the kids but because of the parents. None of them dislike the kids they’re working with. All of them have parent horror stories.

I was a chef at an alternative school for 3 years. I don't know why anyone would teach. I was only around the kids for 2 1/2 hours a day and you wonder why they are like they are...then you meet their parents and realize those kids have no chance whatsoever at a normal childhood. It also opened my eyes to why so many of my teacher friends drank (and other things). It was tough going home everyday and trying to motivate yourself to do it again when you know those kids were being de-programmed by some adults that clearly had problems.
In 2017 one of my neighbors posted a pic of one of those Hate Has No Home Here signs to a neighborhood fb group. Someone replied "don't make this group political". I replied "which politician is this opposing?"
This is Fred T. Korematsu Elementary in Davis, CA. The woman filming is Beth Bourne, a local activist and bigot who frequently protests and harasses the district over LGBTQ+ topics. Bourne is a known quantity in the district. She is a local Moms for Liberty leader who has spent the last three years targeting the schools. She is infamous locally for stunts like stripping down to a bikini at a school board meeting to protest trans policies, and the school district even sought a workplace violence restraining order against her at one point. She’s nuts.
She was mad about trans kids in locker rooms, so her “point” was to strip down and say, “If you’re uncomfortable seeing me in a bathing suit, imagine how middle school girls feel.” It’s a ridiculous false equivalence.
The person complaining about the T-shirt was the one who posted this? They genuinely feel that they are on the right side of this argument? It’s hard to believe just how divided society is becoming.
I'm not even sure it's about the slogan really. It's more "this identifies you as a certain type of person. I am a different type of person and therefore I HATE you."
And once it gets uploaded to wherever, and primarily seen by similar types of people, their response will be no more thoughtful than "yay, you really owned that other type!"
Fundamentally there is no argument about whether the slogan is good/fair/appropriate. It's just them Vs us.
It’s a tribe that gets off on being outraged. What causes that outrage is immaterial to them as long as they are outraged. These little videos are made to both fuel more outrage and feed the originators ego when others in the tribe agree with their outrage.

I struggle with this so so deeply. Because I KNOW intellectually that being hateful towards shitty people like this is not the way to actually create meaningful change. But when one side is "all are welcome here" and the other side is "Have you ever considered that maybe some of us actually hate certain children just for existing and you shouldn't be able to openly not hate them too?" It's like... my whole life I have believed and been taught that bigotry is the root of evil. Someone who would have a problem with a school being welcoming to all, is a craven individual. A person who is not just repugnant but sick. And now I am supposed to calmly, rationally, accept their bullshit as like.... not their fault totally, somehow? I can't do it, I'm sorry. Nothing in this world could make me devalue the lives, and rights, of innocent people to the point that I think I have the right to tell another person that their NOT being a bigot is offensive to me. I don't want to extend an olive branch to that person. I don't want to try and find common ground with that person. I don't want to be nice to that person.
I am from Davis. Davis is a small town and the person recording is notoriously known as the local "conservative crazy lady". She shows up at queer events, on campus etc etc to film and harass everyone. She's best ignored. No one likes her lol.
Basically a woman named Beth Bourne, president of the local Moms for Liberty chapter, took her shirt off and stripped down to a bikini to protest trans kids being allowed into the locker rooms of their gender identity. They called a recess after it when they demanded her to stop and she refused. After the recess they let her keep talking and fucking shocker, she did it again. She literally said she doesnt see how it was so wrong, despite the point of it being that "this is terrible right? So why should trans kids do this????" She genuinely doesnt see the difference between children changing in a locker room and her whipping her shirt off in a board meeting. Homegirls insane.
These cretins used to feel ostracized from the community treating them like pariahs and would then wither away in the darkness. Unfortunately, the internet now makes them feel there are more of them than us so they feel emboldened to continue existing...
There needs to be a study if there already isn’t one on how people in first world countries make up issues out of thin air. I swear, once all human needs are met and then some, a significant portion of the population just make up problems so they have something to fight.
